There are an outfitter here called R M Williams who make workwear for farmers, shearers and horse riders, their pants are almost bullet proof and made from a drill material or denim, while they last seemingly forever they are quite thick and you tend to walk like a robot, when they get comfortable it generally means they are buggered.
I have had a pair for 30 years and they are still stiff.
I don't know if it makes it to the USA, the pants used to have a button fly as the originator said that shearers could stitch a button on themselves but not a zip.
My work pants have knee pads and lots of pockets in contrasting colours, made by Yakka, another local I think.
Yakka is a colloquialism for work.
