Any other MF owners with sticker shock on 50 hour service!? I paid it, but I'll be shopping around for my next service...

Same as above. The cost of buying the filters and doing it yourself is usually a couple hundred bucks and a few hours of time. Similar to cars, work in the service shop is where they make their money and you pay handsomely for it. If your able bodied and have at least a covered space to work in it's not terribly difficult to do.

The $253 charge is not itemized, but the filters are not cheap, the hydro oil is also expensive if you use the OEM product and then a few hours of labor finish the job (on your wallet..)

I bought my machine used (400hr) and did a round of maintenance right away. I'm not surprised that a shop wanted that much. Buying the bits and putting in your own labor will save you half. No free lunch with these machines. On the other hand, before i had it, the cost of hiring someone with a machine was really high, so it more than balances out if you have much work to do.

Good news! Your next service is at 300 hours. You might want to begin watching videos at 100 hours, but your service interval after the first one is every 250 hours. Unless they changed that since the 2410.

My GC1710TLB shows 50 hour service. Then it specifies frequency of daily checks, every 50 hour check/changes, 100 hour check/changes, 250 check/changes and annual tasks and which tasks should be done at which interval.

I asked when I bought my 1705 and they said it would be about 4-500 bucks being they go over the whole unit and make any adjustments needed so I am ready for the 1st dealer service shock and after that I値l do it myself, having them doing the 1st service is important to me being it all gets properly recorded in their records and helps cover yourself Incase any warranty issues arise before your next scheduled service.

I know that it's too late, you've already bought your tractor OP... However part of my purchase deal (actually, the Salesman included it) was a free 50hr service at my property.

Granted, that 50hr service was oil/filters/lubrication, not hydraulic fluid/filter. But my 4105 doesn't call for that until 400hrs. The mechanic was happy to have me over his shoulder, showing my all sorts of things (including a couple of grease nipples that weren't in the Owner Manual) + some 'tricks of the trade' for general maintenance and what to plan to have in order to do the job.

I was, therefore, quite confident to perform the hydraulic fluid/filter change when the time came = the OEM fluid & filter, the correct tools to perform it and a large plastic storage bin (I'm sure that you have another word for that :)) to collect the fluid. A funnel and a measured 1 litre container for the last bit of fluid finished the job. The procedure was all in the Manual, but the tools/bin/funnel/measured-container was not.

As stated, do your own. It's not complicated. And, you have control of what products are used.

You actually don't want the dealer doing your 50 hour service. Because, the same kid who missed a bunch of stuff, when he prepped your tractor, just missed it all again when he did your 50.

A person with a vested interest in the process, will always be more willing to take the time to check everything thoroughly. It takes time to check every inch of hose for rubs, and chafing. I'm willing to bet you, it wasn't done.

Everyone is here if you have questions on how to do your own maintenance in the future.
