waiting out the storm (virus)

I only recall getting spanked by my father once in my life. I was misbehaving in church and he told me to knock it off. I didn't. He told me again, and said if I didn't, he'd take me out of church and spank me. Yeah, right.... so I did it again. Well, turns out dad was a man of his word. :laughing:

His hand looked to be the size of a barn door right before I lost sight of it coming down behind me. Felt like one too. Yeowy!

Then he made me do the perp walk back into church to our family pew. I was all huffing and sniffling and looking down. I'm surprised the church didn't applaud my father. :laughing:

Anyhow, it taught me a valuable lesson: don't get caught.

With many not able to work due to closures, some can take on home schooling....but some of the people I know are not able to teach much except how to drink, smoke and go to fast food places.

I think there will be a lot of couples splitting up if they are forced to stay in close proximity for a long time and act as adults if one them "grows up".

Perhaps it will be for the better.

Didn't miss nothing.... I'm a 12 year survivor of Catholic school. Had one nun beat me once. My dad told her it better not happen again. It didn't.

I'm a survivor of early Catholic school through 2nd grade. I'm left handed and still remember being forced to write "right handed". I was so glad we escaped to Vermont.

Dad had on occasion talked with Monsignor and word deceminated at lightening speed...

Don't know if Dad being heavyweight US Champion factored or not... but he was always the most diplomatic. .. speak softly and carry a big stick.

The nuns had no compunction dishing out a "Thrashing" but a 67 year old nun with 55 fifth graders says something too

I'm a survivor of early Catholic school through 2nd grade. I'm left handed and still remember being forced to write "right handed". I was so glad we escaped to Vermont.

My dad is right handed. My mom left. 1st sibling right. 2nd sibling ambidextrous. 3rd sibling left. 4th sibling right. And I'm left.

So three rights, three lefts, and a switch hitter. We had specific seating assignments at dinner.

My mom was forced to write right handed in school. So she knew the stigma and pain. She made sure they let me write left handed. While that was nice, here's the kicker. I'm right eye dominant. I write, throw, bat left handed. But I aim right handed. So things like guns, scissors, drinking are all aiming tasks. The teachers tried to force me to use lefty scissors. Finally convinced them I'm split handed. :laughing:

Over time, I became mostly ambidextrous. I whittle left handed, but I cut food right handed. I can use a hammer, screwdriver, hand tools, power tools, etc.... with either hand no problem. I can write with either hand, but left is noticeably nicer. I shift my car right handed too....

Yes... we always had military kids and accomodations made...

Not long ago I was at the school and it is now Montessori and I counted 24 desks.
