Hello everyone I'm new in this forum :) a lot of good information in here.

So I have around 6.5 acres of land most of it have hay, I will need a tractor that will be capable of cutting the hay, grass, move dirt and do some gardening shores. I looks at the kubota bx series and the JD series 1 I test drive the 1025R and like it but I did not like the price I get quote in kingston, Ontario a little over 32k for 84 months financial with 4 attachments: snow blade, rotary cutter, front loader and a rototiller. Kubota bx was like 4k cheaper. I'm checking if a Kubota b2301 or 2601 will be a better investment as the price seen to be around the same as the jd 1025R but it is my understanding that the B series is in another level compare to jd series 1. What do you guys will recoment ?

I don't know Deere. Kubota has the BX series, the B series, and the new LX series. It is my understanding the new LX series is sized like the larger B series. Do you plan to cut your hay with the belly mower? I suspect you plan to use the rotary cutter but you didn't specify a size. Get a handle on tractor weights. When using the rotary mower you don't want the tail wagging the dog so to speak. I pull a five foot rotary behind my L2501 and was dubious about getting anything lighter for that purpose. The main purpose is cutting ten acres of grass on somewhat hilly terrain. That ruled out a subcompact for me.

:welcome: to TBN.
Have you consider what type transmission you would like...HST or gear?
You planning on filling rear tires also using rear tire chains,if so you may need rear spacers for tire chains.
If you go with Kubota start around 30hp L series it's little wider heavier than the B series.

Jasper's about 50 miles if you want to contact Advantage Tractor and see what they have to offer in Blue.

The fundamental importance of TRACTOR WEIGHT eludes many tractor shoppers. The most efficient way to shop for tractors is to first identify potential tractor applications, then, through consulataton, establish bare tractor weight necessary to safely accomplish your applications. Tractor dealers, experienced tractor owners and TractorByNet.com are sources for weight recommendations.

Sufficient tractor weight is more important for most tractor applications than increased tractor horsepower. Bare tractor weight is a tractor specification easily found in sales brochures and web sites, readily comparable across tractor brands and tractor models, new and used. Shop your weight range within tractor brands. Budget will eliminate some choices. Collect a dealer brochure for each tractor model in your weight range. I spreadsheet tractor and implement specs, often a revealing exercise. I have a column for cost per pound.

Selling a used tractor is easy. Selling multiple light implements in order to buy heavier, wider implements for a new, heavier tractor requires a lot of time. Depreciation on implements is worse than depreciation on a tractor.

When considering a tractor purchase, bare tractor weight first, tractor horsepower second, rear axle width third and rear wheel ballast fourth.

A quality dealer, reasonably close, available for coaching, is important for tractor neophytes. Most new tractors are delivered with a glitch or two requiring correction. My kubota dealer is six miles away. I feel my local dealer continues to add value to my equipment after seven years. Dealer proximity is less important for those experienced with tractors and qualified to perform their own maintenance.

Kubota B2301 - DIMENSIONS

2018 - B-01 Series

Series next: Kubota B2601

Weight: 1566 lbs [710 kg]

Height (ROPS): 83.9 inches [213 cm]
Ground clearance: 12 inches [30 cm]

It is my understanding that the Kubota B series is in another level compared to JD series 1. What do you recommend ?

Within subcompact and compact tractor categories a significant tractor capability increase requires a bare tractor weight increase of 50%. It takes a 100% increase in bare tractor weight to elicit MY-OH-MY!

Ground clearance due to larger wheels and tires is the single greatest difference in tractor specs between (all brands) of Subcompact tractors and the lightest Compact tractors. Larger wheels and tires permit compact tractors to bridge holes, ruts and tree debris with less operator perturbation relative to subcompact tractors. Important mowing fields.

I believe moving up to either the B2301 / B2601 would be best.

I would look at one of the new LX tractors or maybe a L2501, good bang for the buck if your not finish mowing.

I’d also look at a larger size. The price you got on the JD seems really high. In U.S. dollars it woukd be closer to $20k
