I'm retired so we had a little income with SS.. definitely not enough to live on forever, or at all without some kind of backup. The wife (5 years younger) was working for Boys and Girls club of America, but with kids out of school she got furloughed pretty early on. Recently she started with Amazon as an Operations manager in their big distribution facility here... saved the day!! And we survived by having enough put away to do just that, survive... but that doesn't include metal roofing!
That live edge siding started out as scrap , cutoffs off the log as I was squaring it up, but early on I started thinking some kind of siding so I cut them at a consistent thickness and it worked out great... never tried live edge siding before!

I was terrified when they announced the lockdown and how long I could pay my bills. It's been amazing to me seeing how people have dealt with it, and how many have ignored it. I personally ignored it and I've been having the busiest year of my career as a contractor fixing and remodeling homes. My wife works for the University, and they haven't slowed down either, so we've been fortunate.

It's nice to see your progress and hear that you have been able to keep on working on it during the Covid madness. Hopefully you'll post some pictures of your success from the deer blind!!! I haven't seen a single deer from my blind since the season opened a week ago. They are 100% nocturnal around here right now.

The wife and I sat up there Saturday evening with a couple adult beverages, saw 8 deer from up there. I had no hunting gun as I wasn't hunting, just enjoying the nice weather from the new "fort"!

I like how it's morphed into more than planned. That live edged siding looks like it's treated. Did you treat it or is that a natural greenish color?

I treated it with this stuff, it says its good for ground contact and docks in the water for 30 years. I have no idea if its that good for that long only been using it for about 4 years now. Its pretty much the same thing as they use on "pressure treated" wood and its pretty vial stuff. Oh, and bonus... makes it like a nice green camo color!!:D
