Why no Ecoboost in the F250?

The new ram interiors are very, very nice. Near luxury feel. But given the track record of Chrysler/FCA/Stellantis, one must ask whether they will still be reliable (electrically) in 10-15 years. The interiors of the 2nd and 3rd gen Ram pickups were obviously pretty much just hideous garbage that quickly crumbled to bits, but its not like Ford or GM were all that much better. Whole different level of quality now, across the board.

With regards to you guys calling Ford stupid for not putting a cummins B into the F250/F350, well no, they were not ever going to be able to do that. Chrysler made sure their contract with Cummins kept the B exclusive to Ram, standard operating procedure. Ford could maybe have worked with Cummins to develop a new, alternate engine platform... but we saw how poorly that went for Nissan with the 5.0L V8 LDD piece of crap and a 12k towing rating for a supposedly "HD" titan. sad.

Not really. The Ram interior is NOT a pile of crap. Mine is on par or better than Ford. Ford uses outsourced Dana axles and NP transfer cases, so nothing new there. The Aisin transmission in my Ram has been good.

I think you are still living on 25 year old folklore. Ford & GM marketed the heck out of their trucks in the 90’s & 2000’s Dodge/Ram didn’t. I was a Ford guy 25 years ago. Thought they were better. Not anymore. They are all fairly close. If towing is your gig, I’d chose Ram.

I owned an 18 Ram with the Cummins. Awesome rig. Sold it for more than I paid for it as we downsized our farming operation and had no use for diesel truck any longer. Had no idea my ecoboost/F250 question would get me educated on a wide range of topics

Fords 7.3 is good when compared to the other junk they put out. But it's all junk. It's like winning are you smarter than a 5th grader when the cummins is a published PhD graduate.

Ford did put a 5.9 in their medium duty trucks. They also put 8.3 Cummins in their medium duty trucks. 5.9s power other medium duty trucks like garbage trucks and school buses. 5.9s powered a fairly wide range of equipment. Dozers, loaders, rollers, tractors and I’m sure other equipment had 5.9s. They also came in boats or generators. 5.9s were in no way exclusive to dodge.

I owned a Case 850D bulldozer with a naturally aspirated 5.9.

Some real world review of an EV towing:

Funny they talk about a 4000 pound tow rating: My V70 is rated at 1800kg or 3968 pounds but gross combined weights of 10 to 13k are not unusual to me, but i never get below 20 miles per gallon..

They were exclusive in the pickup market. Is all that I meant to imply. It was contractual, not some missed opportunity by Ford or GM.

I guess Cummins didnt see the huge potential of an industrial inline 6 in the market of light duty V8 diesels either, or they wouldnt have agreed on exclusivity to the, at that time, smallest (with a distance) player in the market...

What was/went wrong with the Cummins 5.0 V8 ? And is the 12k tow rating due to the Cummins engine, or due to the Nissan truck ?

Remember that the 5.0 was developed as a more domesticized, less commercial grade addition next to the 6.7 but Ram didnt take it, so Cummins offered it to anyone else who bought it, which happened to be Nissan, and Cummins was glad someone took it.

It was never intended by Cummins to compete in the horsepower war between the B6.7, the Duramax or the Powerstroke, but to be a sort of Ecodiesel for the 3/4 ton mixed use customers. Perhaps Nissan placed it wrong in the market ?
