Doug- Awesome video. Thanks for sharing. I do not want to think about all the $ spent on drones. I had all kinds of drones, transmitters, and batteries and charges galore

Ted, Rswyn, Fritz, Drew, RNG, Dennis, Phil, Billy, Bill, David, Kilroy, Ken et. al. I really enjoy reading about all your projects with accompanying pictures. I get tired just following all the ongoing projects

Kilroy- Thanks for the definitions of headwear.

Ron- Thanks for sharing your Blue Jay picture.

Popgadget- Nice looking dog. Boyo does not like water as well.

All the prayers and + thoughts for our friend appear to be working and thanks. We had a “surprise” visit with her yesterday afternoon after spending Thursday at MassGeneral in treatment, and Friday and Saturday morning on the MA North Shore doing “fun stuff” before going home and then coming here. She is an amazing woman.

Today’s morning low temperature was 40ºF and it appears that today’s high will be 58ºF. There has been varying degrees of high level haze/clouds and filtered sunshine all day. There has been a steady breeze as well with 19mph wind gusts recorded. I did not do much today as planned, but I did capture a picture of PO’d grackle:

So far, a success for a productive day.... cut the metal for the planters, ran a new supply line for the drip irrigation to the new pinyon pine, and got the last 2 zones watered on the abbreviated schedule.

Mother nature is now washing the tractor for me..... just a few light sprinkles. Enough to stop any outdoor work.
I'm able to continue building the planters in the shop, so that's the last thing on the agenda.....

Took out a couple of NY strip steaks, sweet potatoes are baking already. Grill will get fired up in the very near future....

Hope the rain continues......

Here’s new tailwheel cobbled together.
Ended up making the collar to keep the wheel on the “axle”. Used the insulation from a piece of 12ga THHN for a bushing.
Hopefully the wind will die off and I can test it.

Makani has mixed feeling about the hose. Doesn’t like to be squirted but loves trying to catch the stream from nozzle. Have to pay attention when I’m using the pw as he doesn’t appreciate the difference.

So far a bit of rain and sore shoulders winning out over pressure washer.

Grilling a nice NY strip and one of Sophie’s pineapples (white one) for an early Mothers Day dinner.

So went back up to the barn and changed air filter and front axle gear case oil on the RTV. Found the oil pump for the bucket of UDT and transferred to a 2 quart pouring container and then used the syringe to suck it up and a plastic hose to reach the fill port.

Opened a bottle of Riesling and we went out on balcony to watch and listen to the birds performing for us
Saw a nice I think Baltimore Oriole

Yup ... (y)

Would have to check my maintenance logs to be sure but I'm pretty certain I did the anti-seize on the mating surfaces last time I had the rotors off on the Sprinter. Always do it on the threads.

Know for sure I did it on the Passat (alloy wheels)

One thing I did run into with wheel bolts on the Passat, which probably applies to any other vehicle as well, is that the threads aren't the only place that they will seize.

The mating surface where the bolts contact the rim can also be problematic ... ;)

At any rate I did get a good look at the front brake pads yesterday up at Discount Tire while they had the wheels off: 50% or better left ... (y)
The entire mating surface of the rim and rotor should get an anti seize treatment IMO

Didn’t realize you was in that part of NC. Went thru Asheville a month or so ago. Roads were terrible and so was traffic.
Just far enough west that I can drive down south into Georgia without hitting SC 😁

Good afternoon! 82˚F, humid, partly cloudy, 1.3" rain the last two days.

Went to Mom's Friday (because of forecasted impending floods this weekend) and brought her lunch, got her lawn mowed, AC fixed, mouse out of the kitchen and raccoon barricaded out of the garage. A good day spent with her.

Had a shower this morning so the potato harvest will have to wait one more day. Hopefully it will cool a few more degrees before our evening walk.
