Morning all, 72 going up to 86 and heavy smoke filled skies.
Son's friends came for practice, pool time and slept over. So pretty hectic here.
And dog is sick again :-(
Brother goes in for stents in a few weeks, but lots of unresolved issues even after that so hoping he will be able to heal up.

back to work,

Rabbit babies not so small in only a few weeks, multiplying like rabbits!

Have you got room in your creek to add a couple of more "sumps" settling ponds to let the water clarify before it gets to your pump pit. With good clean gravel or course sand between them.
our “creek” is all of about 18”-24” wide and 2”-3” deep, my stumps are basically two excavator buckets. They silt up in about two weeks.

what my filter plan is, is to take a 5-gallon bucket and use some used HVAC air filters to make a coarse filter cartridge, and two bulkhead fittings, and let that filter out the big stuff between the pump and the sprinklers.

still trying to find tubing for gravity system without having to take a fourth mortgage out…

Good morning.

71F and partly cloudy @ 09:00. Heading up to around 82F for the high.

Air Quality Index is 160 which is Unhealthy but a slight improvement.

A mix of clouds and sun this morning then clouding up later this afternoon. A stray shower or thunderstorm possible.

Got east side and back mowed yesterday, also some of the west side. Will get it finished up today.

Dipstick for B2910 was in at the Kubota dealer's when I called yesterday but hadn't been checked in yet. Probably run over there today at some point and pick it up.

Sprayed stink juice on west peach tree and two burning bushes out front. Also on redbud and hostas around trees in back. Going to need to filter stink juice through a coffee filter as it tends to clog the sprayer up. Not sure whether it's the putrified eggs or cayenne powder ... or a combo of both.

Got a couple of the larger tomato plants in pots stuck in the ground over in the garden. They were around 3' tall, one of them had several tomatoes on it. More of that on the menu for today.

Garden seems to be draining/drying out pretty well so probably try and get the soil amending and grading finished today and get at least some of the weed block fabric pinned down. Soil on the north end is a little low.

Hear Woman stirring so it sounds like She may have gotten up ... fresh coffee shortly ... :giggle:

Butterfly weed up at the shop somehow managed to fight its way up through all the weeds and is now blooming:

Hope everyone has a Good Friday ... (y)

Good Morning!!!! 79F @ 7:30AM. Sunny. Hot. High near 105F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.
Gradually increasing temps until we hit 109F on Sunday, then tapering off into the low 90s by the end of the 10-day.

California politics may be all screwed up, but I've never had a wheel or brake rotor stuck to a hub, even an alloy wheel. Probably because the weather tax is so high.
Now, this is in no way a 'put-down' of my North American Mates, but she just can't find a good/decent red wine (Shiraz) anywhere. She's taken to drinking bourbon. :D Any suggestions?
I'm partial to Weller's Pot Still, but Basil Haden is very smooth and very reasonably priced.🤣 If you're referring to what we call Sirah, you'll need to qualify what you mean by good/decent. The flavor can vary from sweet and jammy all the way to chewing on bark. For Sirahs and Zins, I prefer the jammy end of the spectrum, and have had luck looking for alcohol percentages of 14% or better. The theory is that if the grape had enough sugar in it at harvest to make that much alcohol, it'll probably have a sweeter profile. In a red blend, again on the sweeter side, Ménage à Trois Red can be found for about $7 in any decent liquor store, and the winery has a variety of other wines that are well made and reasonably priced.

Neat sunrise photo, Ron. Are those sunspots?

We haven't had any big wildfires this year yet, but I doubt that'll last much longer. When the air gets bad, I've found that an N95 mask, a real, made-in-USA N95, works well enough I can no longer smell the smoke when I'm outside. I bought a Dyson filter for inside the house when particulate levels went over 400 ppm during the Dixie Fire, and had to supplement it with purple filters from 3M in the central heater. Just running the fan part for a few hours would get the levels down into the single digits.

Yesterday's video of what should have been the mail delivery showed the mailman sailing right by the mailbox. So I called the post office, and the gal I spoke with confirmed that my mail was still being held. And that they had no date at which it should be resumed.😲🤬 I wondered how that could be, as the hold was scheduled on the USPS website. Anyway, she said she'd tell the mailman to deliver it today. I'm not holding my breath.

Got an email off to Mopar tech support asking if the sway bar part numbers I have will fit my van. Automated reply conveyed a case number, so we'll see. The tech working the phone charging problem has yet to respond, and a forum post on it came back with various versions of "they all do that". Also got a recommendation for something called Sumosprings, but I really don't want to increase the ride height just to cure the wallow.

Trip to town uneventful, but confirmed the van is enough wider than the F250 to make parking a little bit trickier. Learned that the side view mirrors easily fold out of the way when they hit something...

Headed south to my buddy's place with the old roof panels from the flying porch cover, and a bunch of used 2x4 and 6x6 wood, to help rebuild a garden shed. From what I saw of it when I was down there last time, it'll be easier to just tear it down and replace it. Anyway, I need to get the metal cut down so it'll fit in the van, so I've got early starts planned to get it done while it's still somewhat cool out. Then siestas the rest of the day.

TGIF gang!

68°F and .25 inches rain

Guys won H&F, 1st win since Jun 1.

Ridgeline goes in for servicing this morning.

Want to start reclaiming my patio chairs while just surface rust. Could be lots of wire brushing/sanding before rattle can painting. Fortunately the seating material in good shape. This is why I quit buying steel patio furniture years ago. Unfortunately, bought these before that enlightenment.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

83 already going to 86. Air quality alert index 160

Went out and tilled a couple of slopes that had been excavated. It leveled out very nicely.

Seeded 40 ft of green beans in fresh tilled dirt while Cody was running around inside the fenced area.

Moved some logs left from a tree down over into the pile.

Plan to stack some more wood

Good (Friday) morning. Overnight Low was 1.2C (-0.6C at dawn) with a light frost. It's presently 12.9C, clear and calm.

What with the current Wintery (for NE Tassie) overnight temperatures, my thoughts go to the local 'homeless', most of whom live in the bush. So I've decided to go through my closet and donate to the local "Op Shop" all of the jumpers (sweaters) and clothes that I no longer wear. Most of that stuff is too big for me anyway having lost over 25kg a few years ago and I haven't gained any of it back.

My 'WhatsAp' call, yesterday, was from my friend in Washington DC (her husband is a RAAF Squadron Leader on exchange)... Now, this is in no way a 'put-down' of my North American Mates, but she just can't find a good/decent red wine (Shiraz) anywhere. She's taken to drinking bourbon. :D Any suggestions?

That's about it, take care all.
Penfolds makes a decent shiraz that you can get here in the Northeast.
Their "bins" are usually the higher quality/cost.
We get some really good South African Shiraz, selection from down under is jusr ok unless willing to spend too much.

May I suggest the HD 5 gal nylon paint filter before the HVAC filter to get the larger stuff?
I use in combination with panty hose on my catchment system before water goes into tank.
Not the configuration you need, but maybe spark an idea
IMG_8808.JPG

On this the water flows from inside out in a 4 inch PVC from roof gutters to tank fill pipe. Maybe you can rig such that pump draws from inside a 5 gal bucket that has passed thru the filter into bucket.
