My Tesla Y is almost 2 yrs old and not one visit to the service center, which is a 2 hr drive. All "recalls" were over the air updates.I and another family member both bought new cars at the same time, me an SRT Charger 392, and he a Tesla Model 3 Dual Motor. At the time, I remember pointing out to him that the closest Tesla service center was something like 2 hours away, and that was one of several factors making the car less appealing to me. His counter argument was to say he should never have to visit the Tesla service center, so distance really wasn't a factor.
About two years in, we revisited that topic, and he had to admit he'd made more trips to that Tesla service center than he'd even care to admit. I think it was due mostly to recalls and other assembly issues. His Model 3 was a 2017 model year.
Meanwhile, my lowly Dodge Charger has still never visited a dealer for anything other than annual safety inspection and tires, in the 9 years I've owned it. And even so, the dealer is 10 minutes from my house, I literally drift past it almost every day.
I had to replace one tire because of side wall punchture. No oil changes, no worries about transmission issues, drive belts, spark plugs, etc.
I bought a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu new and at 130,000 miles and 10 yrs later it finally gave up the ghost after a few repairs.
I'm to the point now that I will never own an ICE.
