Did you notice what type were the privately owned fighters?
We used to camp in Boy Scouts at an old ordinance factory grounds. Many places were marked CONTAMINATED!, so, of course, what do teenage boys do? Climb the fence! Bullets, brass, grenade fragments, parachutes...We hiked for a day on a military range near Yuma maybe 30 years ago. Amazing what's on the ground or there! We found anything from WW2 50cal brass, to small rocket parts (air to air?).
We checked in at the base and were allowed to be there.
