Given the wet and rainy conditions Nationwide outside tractor time has been limited this season as my land is still just mush. I've been reduced to using a field mower and my 4x4 ATV as a means to mowing the back half of my land (about 1.5acres). That made for some ideal garage project time. For this particular thread im going focus on changing my lighting from stock/factory bulbs to LED replacements and adding as close to factory looking LED work lights as possible. And here we go...

Replacement bulbs are headlights #912/921, tail lighting of #1156 and #1157. All worked perfectly and I could share the bulbs I ordered on request. They were available via Amazon.com

I created the work light holders using some square stock steel tubing, rattlecan primer and MF red paint as well as some U bolts from the store. I changed out the hardware for the work lights to neoprene washers, oversized washers and a lock nut to create a firm swivel joint so that I could turn the lights depending on what implements/needs I have for the conditions. I drilled wiring holes in the ROPS and added grommets to protect the wiring and keep a clean look. He wiring was then run through the ROPS and out the bottom next to the factory taillight wires, all wiring front to back is wrapped in a protective outer wire guard material. I used a step bit and added a rocker switch to the dash below the current lighting switch. All the wiring is run alongside/zip tied to the factory wiring harness underneath and up the back of the tractor. Given that this aftermarket harness had a fuse built into it and a relay I connect directly to the battery terminals for independent operation vs being on the key and drawing power through that circuit. I'd be glad to share more pics upon request. If your machine is still under warranty, you just created a problem if the ROPS fails in any way for any reason. I only use brackets or straps to mount anything to it.
If it is it's barely so. I got my GC in April of 2015. If the ROPS fails I have bigger problems than warranty issues. That being said, it won't be because of the 2 x 3/8" holes drilled into it.

I did this too (used this location) for aux 12 volt power to rear that was NOT under ign switch control... Wished I had placed it somewhere else as I keep bumping it with my knee and its alway off or on, opposite of what I want...

Also moved tail lights in board, designers do not know about tree branches (even with guards) and new light assembly is $125...

I wish I could to that dale. Unfortunately I have a TLB model with the folding ROPS and that's where I sit to run the hoe

Make strong light guards... The ones that come with ractor are wimpy...

The entire thing is whimpy. The light gaurds are attached to the plastic housings which if the guard doesn't fail, the plastic the bolt screws into surely will. For optimal durability they should have recessed lights into the ROPS or place them down in fenders of the tractor

I did this on both the 1710 and 1723e, have no issue running the hoe with the lights inboard

You must be a bit leaner than me lol. At 5' 11" and 260lbs I need the space. I measured it out and for as deep in the chair as I sit it wasn't feasible

Makes sense, with my seating position my upper arms are next to the lights and have just enough room, we are the same height.
