    First tractor

I used mine for the same purposes in the hills of TN. Anything smaller or lighter than my Kioti CK3510H would have been dangerous for moving 9' hickory logs after cutting or fixing a gravel drive on steep hills. Check the specs for loader and other weight capacities. With a dedicated TLB you...

Why so much tongue weight on 22' car hauler trailers?

20' Rice 10K trailer loaded with everything precious to me ;) Pulled with 1/4 ton F150 and weight distribution hitch. Rear sat 2" lower (which actually leveled the truck) and front raised 1/2" ... if front lifts any higher you have to adjust load.

    Truck Size to transport

More truck will be necessary...the weight rating is about double with a gooseneck vs WDH but a F150 just won't pull 14K safely.

    Truck Size to transport

NO! My 2900 lb. trailer is rated 9990 GVW and my tractor and all implements were about 6500 lbs. My issue was the max tongue weight of 500 lbs. was increased to 870 lbs. with the weight distribution hitch.

    Truck Size to transport

The weakest link in my setup was the tongue weight on my F150 which required a weight distribution hitch that brought it up to spec. The 20 hour trip from Tennessee to Wisconsin was uneventful ;) My granddaughter did not make the trip on the tractor.

    HVAC problem this morning.

Correct, the switch closes when it senses the pressure difference between the negative (vacuum) pressure of the combustion chamber and atmosphere (14.7 psi)...pressure differential.

    HVAC problem this morning.

Old gravity furnaces were great...no power necessary, quiet, mostly reliable. Replace the thermopile every fall and you're good to go, that octopus of 12" round duct eats up a lot of room in the basement though.

Battery based vehicles of today and tomorrow pt 2

The first cost is the diesel fuel the farmer used to plow the field, till the ground, harvest the beans, and transport them to the food processor. Not only is his diesel fuel an embedded cost, so are the costs to build the tractors, combines, and trucks. In addition, the farmer might use a...

Battery based vehicles of today and tomorrow pt 2

Rechargeable batteries only differ in their internal materials, usually lithium-ion, nickel-metal oxide, and nickel-cadmium. The United States uses three billion of these two battery types a year, and most are not recycled; they end up in landfills. California is the only state which requires...

Battery based vehicles of today and tomorrow pt 2

“Sorry,” NM giggled then continued, “three days ago, at the start of my last lecture, three people walked out. I suppose they were disappointed there would be no dancing girls. But here is what I noticed about them. One was wearing a battery-powered hearing aid, one tapped on his battery-powered...

    HVAC problem this morning.

Think of them as pressure differential switches. The ignition cycle is interesting... 1- All safety switches are checked for closure. 2-the ignitor, or glow plug, is powered to light a pilot flame. 3- The pilot flame is proven by flame rectification whereby a dc voltage is passed through the...

DIY septic tank and drain field?

It's certainly possible for you to install another system but I would tap into the inlet of the existing system and have the tank pumped every other year to be sure solids don't build up in the first chamber. Consider adding another run to the drainfield to disperse the extra liquids involved...

    HVAC problem this morning.

FYI to avoid confusion...a thermopile creates a millivolt current which powers the gas valve and requires no 120v to provide heat, not used on modern equipment. A thermocouple (or glow plug type igniter) is what senses pilot flame in modern equipment.

    HVAC problem this morning.

The pressure switch and all other safeties in the circuit must be connected at initial call for heat...the control board senses that all safeties are closed before starting the ignition cycle.
