Northern Tool "Hotline" membership - worth it?

I'm wondering if the $40/1yr or $60/2yr extra charge is worth the money. There's an obvious savings on shipping initially but as far as the other benefits go, does it pay? Any advantages or disadvantages? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

    PTO pump shaft question

I am the proud owner of an 8 roller PTO pump. This is my first one, and I got a "kit" with the arm, spring, chain, etc. Now my question - The pump shaft has a groove, to accept a kind of key. They included a collar to attach to the tractor PTO, which also has a groove to accept a key. This...

When is the best time to apply corn gluten to a lawn?

I think my question says it all... I want to get the fertilizer benefit as well as killing the weeds, especially the dandelions. The lawns and fields are too wet to get out now, but as soon as they dry out, should the gluten be applied then?

Shopping for a lawn tractor - need advice

I'm looking to cut grass. That's about it. About 1 acre around the house, up and down the driveway, around the barn, road, etc. Generally in long strips. The ground is flat. I don't need this machine to do anything except cut grass. Everything else, the 4320 will do. So, what are the...

Help needed - Tandem roller setup

I have acres of lawn and pasture to reseed and roll. I bought two (2) 48" wide lawn rollers from TSC and would like to pull both at the same time, side by side, to get a 8-9' wide pass. [The tires on my tractor are set to be about 96" wide]. Each roller has a yoke on it, with a cat 0 pin, so it...

    Turbo Noise in 4x20 Series

Q for the board: Up in owning/operating someone began a thread about enjoying the whistle/whine sound from the turbocharger. I know the sound well - from my F250. Oddly, I cannot hear the turbo on my 4320. Now, it is a loud engine, but wouldn't ya think you could hear that whistle? So, my...

    Spreader  Manure Spreader help request

I have an opportunity to buy a New Holland model 125 PTO spreader. Has a single beater. It is used and the seller says "it needs work." It's a consignment and the he can't tell me what it needs. Price is below $400. I am a novice and could use something to haul a pile of horse exhaust once in a...

How to identify old CCA wood?

I just removed +/- 200 lf of wood board fence from my property. There is a lot of 4x4 posts and 5/4x8 boards piled up. I'd rather burn this stuff in the fireplace and not have to pay to dump it. Question is, how can I tell for certain that the stuff is safe to burn and not CCA treated? Most of...

Risks & rewards from allowing hunters on property

I'm in a relatively lightly populated area in a densely populated state. Hunting, especially for deer, is popular where I am. There are so many deer around me that they are damaging the ecosystem; there are no seedling trees, invasives are taking over, and their foot traffic has even caused...

Removing telephone poles safely - How?

On my sorta-abandoned farm I had a public road running down the eastern third of the property. It has long since been vacated by the township. There are at least 4 telephone poles that remain, and have had all the wires removed from them. Two have been cut off so that 2-4 feet are above ground...

    Adjusting Track Width on 4320

I'm trying to improve stability while I clear some abandoned pasture, and the "pucker factor" is really up there when the tractor wheel falls into a foxhole or some other thing hidden in the brush. Some of my property has 30% slopes and I'm trying to not kill myself here. My 4320 has 2 position...

Rolling Lawns and Pasture after seeding

I'm planning my spring projects already. I would like to redo some lawn and pasture areas with grass seed and wildflowers. All instructions I read require the earth to be rolled for good seed contact. I'm looking at multi-acre areas.... Can you folks provide a source for rollers in the 72" and...

Price Check  Pricing, Use on a 4120

Help! I'm new to this forum although I've been reading various posts for a while. I am a tractor novice (farm novice, too) and have been looking for a machine for snow removal, landscape work, fence construction, pasture maintenance, forest clearing and cultivation of a few acres. I was looking...
