    Homeowner / DIY internet forums?

I haven't been on TBN a few years (we had to sell our land unfortunately) but I had come to rely on it as a great place for good advice... Is there a similar high-quality forum for DIY homeowners? TIA!

How best to excavate this stump?

I'm about to remove a several-hundred year old sugar maple near my drive way. It's about 6' DBH and unfortunately rapidly dieing. I plan on planting another fairly large tree in its place. Therefore, I'd like to get rid of the majority of the stump and roots without disturbing the asphalt...

Ballast - Any merit in this idea?

These are the two distance I was referencing: I can't tell dimension 'A' from you sketch. Have you thought about captured lift pins and/or angle iron for your ballast? I'd be worried thoses flat irons would twist (maybe you just drew it this way for simplicity). But you could easily double...

    ROPS canopy

I'm sure FTG will get back to you but here's my version. Still going strong. I put it on the trailer backwards. Some other people have posted pics of their builds in there too. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/build-yourself/367229-my-40-canopy.html?highlight=

    New MX4800 owner

Congratulations! What dealer did you get it from? I have been extremely happy with mine. If you're not planning on using a quick hitch and you switch implements often you might consider upgrading the three-point lift arms to the telescoping ones. (That's what I did but now I wish I hadn't...

Ballast - Any merit in this idea?

Above is what I made for my MX. Below is the 900lbs box I made for my previous B3300. A lot cheaper to make.

Ballast - Any merit in this idea?

My 3pt ballast is 1300lbs plus 1000lbs of liquid in rear tires and 240lbs of cast iron wheel weights. By build thread has " frankenballast " in the title. You can search for that if you want. Whatever you do it's incredibly useful to incorporate some storage/carry-all functionality into...

Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

Anyone with HF tool cabinets have a solution for this? The little black plugs that hold the drawer lables in fall out and I have lost a few. Any ingenious tricks to keep them from falling out but still be removable? Substitute ideas for the ones I've lost?
