    Choosing my First Tractor

As posted, I have a 20 HP and 84 HP and 5 more of varying HP in between. All 7 have their assigned task. Size your tractor for the upper end of the required task...If an implement is rated for 45 HP, get a 45 HP tractor. Have to be careful overpowering gear boxes...like on shredders....as the...

New Tractor for buyer new to tractors

I'm am (was) an old school guy when I bought my compact tractor getting one with mechanical gearing. 6 years later I sold it and bought an HST. Never looked back! Have had the new one since Jan. 2021 with zero problems. For a new guy the hydro will allow you to spend more time focusing on...

    TYM (Branson)

TYM bought Branson to get the Cummins licensed mechanical fuel injection system and the Cummins reliability...as the story goes and I believe. My 6530 has that engine, bought new in 2007. Totally bullet proof as are most if not all the Cummins family of engines for road, industrial, and farm...

One Tractor To Do It All?

I think I have seen this post before or something similar. The answer to your question is: It doesn't exist!!!! I am up to 7 tractors now for the reasons you think you can find one to do everything and looking to buy the 8th. Suit the tractor to the job you do most and improvise on the rest...

    TYM vs Yanmar

Neighbor has a 45 hp with cab and has problems with his TYM. Yanmar was the first small overseas manufactured tractor sold in the N. Dallas area back in the '60's. Yanmar engines are in JD and lots of other makes.....my LS has a Yanmar engine.....bullet proof.

    Compact sub compact?

Get a lawn mower to mow your lawn and the tractor to do tractor chores. Mower just gets in the way and is a "beach" to clean out spring wet, clogged in the welded deck, grass. Last time I checked you can get a good ZT mower for what the tractor MMM costs.

    Welder Recommendations

I have 4 I think, welders. The one I use the most is the HF 230V Mig with .030 wire and gas. Most of my welding is not welding main frames on tractors and such and the little Mig is right there, easy to start, gas gives me a clean penetration, on a roll around cart.

Buying a ZTR, what should I look for, or avoid?

In don't like fabricated decks as there are too many places where grass gets clogged and cakes up. I like stamped steel because they have almost 100% round surfaces where grass can't hide. Ok so you can't run into brick walls with them but I don't run into brick walls!

Best oil for your diesel-based engine; make 1996 Kubota M5400S

I go the syn. 5w-40 when new and after they get older I go with the 15w-40. I see your point and no reason why it wouldn't work. I just do what I do because the oil is thicker and stays in an old engine better and is cheaper. I used Shell Rot-T for years but have been using wally world oil...

Running a fertilizer spreader on a BX 3 point hitch who does it

I don't know what you are talking about. My 3 pt conical spreader is red, lightweight being made out of high tensile steel, cost me under $500 new, had no mfgr.'s designation but it is like the first picture in this post. I plant seeds in with my JD drill but on fertilizing I use this spreader...

    Curious non-issue

I find several postings of broken front axles on small HP compacts and if you investigate the details, the operator was using the front axle as the main propeller.....which, as you said, wasn't designed for that.

    Curious non-issue

I have a 2007 6530 Branson that goes into 4WD ok. It just is reluctant to come out ever since it was new. What works is to put the shift lever in reverse and pop the clutch while putting mild pressure on the lever. Comes right out. Apparently the coupling that slices over the shafts...

    New MT226HEC

On a MMM, I think you would be wise to speak to other folks that have that option. I don't have nor want one and they can probably tell you why for my 225s.

    Deere 5105 overheating

If you squeeze the lower hose and don't feel water, there must not be any.......the lower radiator hose is the lowest point in the system......... Assuming that's a measurement error, take the thermostat out and bring up the radiator water level until the top of the tubes are covered half an...
