I bought a wiring harness from YT few days ago and decided to start putting it on the Ford 4000. The tractor is 12 volt and had a voltage regulator up under the dash. There was also a resistor by the coil because a 6 volt coil was still being used. Couple questions here.... Do I have to have a voltage regulator if I have a regulated alternator? (I have a three wire alternator I believe it’s self regulated?) Can I run this simple wiring diagram on my Ford 4000 4 cylinder? Also my coil is now 12 Volt with 3 ohms of resistance so that does mean I can get rid of the resistor next to my coil? Also I’m only wanting ignition wiring for the time being.
Thanks. IMG_0139.jpg

Generally a 3 ohm coil does not need ballast resistor, (usually made inside coil body)...

IF you are sure you have internal regulated alternator, then old regulator for generator is not needed...
