Rail roads and their tracks.

We closed some rails around here in the 70s & 80s. After some of them closed massive housing complexes were built and large retail centers. The closed rails would be great to reopen as commuter rail and it has in fact begun.

Rain in BC Canada washed out some lines. This looks like pretty light gauge and not ribbon rail.

Progress on our shining new commuter rail station. It has an indoor station and a parking garage. It replaces what was once little more than a commuter train platform and small parking lot. A local developer is building a huge housing complex nearby.
Wonder how Covid has affected local commuter rail with so many now working from home? How many will return to commuting? Will this station ever see the vision of its intended capacity?
It was designed and commenced well before Covid.

You know, just a few short years ago, video of that quality just wasn't possible. Outstanding.

Thanks for the link.

I was wondering how that was progressing. I remember following that storyline by you a couple years ago.

And legit questions and concerns about how the new workplace may affect rail travel. My wife continues to work from home. It will be 2 years in April! She only goes into the office about 1 workday out of 7 or 8 for things that need to be physically handled (mail, mostly). They removed all of the individual cubicles (several dozen) and installed a 'pod' of 4 workstation desks. You bring your laptop with you, sit down at a workstation desk, take care of business, and go home.

Demand for self-driving cars may take a hit if commuters don't need to go to the office anymore.

So would the demand for each household to have a 2nd,or 3rd car; one (or two) for each member like we had pre-2020. Thus, on the occasional day that the 2nd person needs a car, they could just call a (24 hour) automated self driving car service.

I think that is Southern Railway of British Columbia, a local line, not CN or CP.
