Saws cleaned up sharpened and ready to load for tomorrows adventure.
Started up the 490 and 620p and both are ready.
Lots of gunk from cutting up dead trees.
Pole saw may be ready for a new bar soon, it took a beating on the mass of downed maple branches.

Good Morning
72°, 96% RH. High overcast, with sun peaking through. Forecast high of 90 and chance of a passing shower.
We got about 1/3” of rain yesterday in several showers.

Yesterday started with the airport authority manager (that’s also an old friend) stopping by early with checks for me to sign. We had a nice chat over tea in the shop. After he left, I started back to cleaning up in the shop and trying to find new homes for various “stuff” like these table legs.

A neighbor came over with a shaft off his mower to see if I could cut a new key way in it to keep him going until a new one arrived. The original one that is wallowed out is 180° from this new one. He also left with the table legs…..

Next on the agenda was to pull out the gear we will need for Saturday’s show. This one we have to provide the PA and lights as well as the sound engineer.
Thats a lot of stuff to move and set up for a batch of septuagenarians. It doesn’t make it any easier that we lost our longtime friend and drummer Monday afternoon. His understudy is easily up to the task, but he will be missed. He also oversaw the setup of the lighting.
We have a couple of youngsters to help move and setup the equipment, they are both engineers in their day jobs, be interesting to see how it goes.

I also had to do some setup on the mixer as we will be using stage monitors rather than in ears, nothing like lots of configuration changes to make sound check interesting.
Because of all that, we are starting early, and I’ll miss Drew’s tree party.

No outside work today, I’ll continue setting up and staging gear for Saturday.

The son of one of my wife’s old coworkers is coming after to lunch to review and prepare for his Private Pilot check ride.
The goal is to make sure that he has all of the boxes checked and requirements fulfilled before he meets with the examiner (possibly my oldest son). That will take a while, there’s lots of boxes to check. It’s surprising how many applicants are not qualified to take the test due to missing one of them.
After we confirm his eligibility, we will go over the knowledge areas. This is helpful to me, as it keeps the information fresh, and we look up what neither of us know….

After that, our sound engineer is stopping by to review the changes I made to the mixer setup and routing, so he can minimize his surprises at sound check

That should take me to dinner and the recliner….
Sorry about your drummer friend. Hope the gig goes well.

Nice job on the keyway. I often just use a flat endmill in lieu of a keyseat cutter....that being said, I have a brand new set of KEO keyseat cutters at work in a very nice wooden box. About 20 cutters or so, I don't remember.

Ron, beautifulo indigo.

Bupps and Holly, prayers.

Drew, thanks for reaching out to Ted for us. Let them know we care.

Day 2 of prednisone treatment for poison oak/ivy. 5 day regiment.

Son and I starting on the pond rake, but have to do at least a myriad of pickup/straighten/organize chores to get to the real chore. Prolly have about 4 more myriads.

At least I took off the FEL lift cylinder, cleaned it externally and put in on the bench for rebuild. Don't want oily/greasy hands when I get to welding.

80 very humid, a few drops of rain but mainly dry

Took the time to smoke the groundhog that had bored under an old shed. Was worried it would put it on fire so had the water hose ready. Used a long stick and taped a large smoke bomb to the end of it and stuck it down the hole as far as possible.Hope it was down there. Put a rock over the entrance to see if it gets disturbed

Trimmed and mowed some more. Caught up. Wish I had not sold the 15 ft Woods batwing mower but the reduced acreage after tree plantings was the reason at the time

Cleared the areas where the tree cutters are working tomorrow

Spent most of the day putting wood in the basement...whew,figure one more cord so be enough.
While wheel barring wood 1 of the 2 cubs became noisy move with 40' and laid down for hours watch, mama bear didn't seem to mind  after couple hours mama let couple huffs out all 3 disappear into the woods.

Well it's time to head for the deck feet up enjoy smooth cigar wait for critter and stars.

Enjoy your evening all.
