    Tractors and (upcoming) tariffs?

It is interesting to read the discussion from the US side of the border. The announcement of 25% tariffs is big news in Canada. We export upwards of $600Billion to the US every year. This will have a large effect in Canada and ripple effects on prices in the US. Lots of data is being reported...

Help me pick a tractor (25-45 HP)

Weight, clearance, stance, and lift. You need all of these two work with such wooded property. Consider a grapple or a set of forks with a grapple arm. I know Kioti so I'll speak to them. The Ck3520SE has reasonable weight, clearance, and lift capacity. You can do lots of work with it...

    Woodland Mills WC68 Chipper

I bought the WM WC68 about 5 years ago. It works very well. For the most part I have been chipping branches off of dead trees. Loader dk55 and KL551 counterweight

My DK5010 is rated at about 2600 loader lift and I have a 1300 lb counterweight and loaded tires. The tires stay on the ground when lift the max, but barely. I wish I had made it 1500.lbs. I leave it on all the time - feels more stable!

I added a 2 foot long, 2" hitch draw bar to the Cat1 drawbar, along with extra steel, then built a set of forms around it, and filled the forms with concrete. No trailer I have towed has been able to lift the 1300 pound counterweight.

    New/old box blade

My guess. If you back up with the flap up, the exposed beveled blade will likely cut in and remove material off the surface, especially a crown in the centre of your driveway. With the flap down, it might just spread material without cutting any deeper. A couple of tests and it may become...

    Snowblower and crushed rock driveway

You need to create a base of snow for the first few snow falls. If you are only clearing a few inches, use the bucket in float mode with a slight upward angle. It will scrape off any high spots. New DK4720SE add-on's? Are they DIY friendly?

@D&D and Mitch. To answer both of your questions. I was able to access one set of remotes by simply removing the seat plate. New DK4720SE add-on's? Are they DIY friendly?

I am slow to reply.., adding a rear remote or two is very straight forward for an avid DIYer. I just replaced a leaking O-Ring in mine - first time working with hydraulics! Kioti ck3510 vs dk 4210

Compare the rear wheels. The DK should have bolted centers that allow you to widen the stance/width of the tractor and this is a great safety feature, especially for new owners, if you are. I'll answer my own question. I did some more reading and watched a couple of videos. It seems that I needed very little bleeding because the fuel filter was still full. I do not have a 2019 CK or a shop manual electrical diagram and hopefully someone with those will provide an accurate answer, but here is what I have discovered. I have three connectors at the rear of my 2016 DK (see photos)... 3pin on left- ground, 12v hot, 12v on ignition (I am using this...

Let's see some homemade 3 point ballast!

Thanks for the advice. My ballast is attached! Using the forks to remove the ballast/pallet off my trailer without a ballast was a scary experience - both rears lifted!! Once I repositioned the pallet I was able to lift it a few inches while my wife pulled the trailer ahead and I set the...

    Ballast weight

Success. The ready-mix concrete place filled my forms with concrete. The forms worked and the ballast is attached! Again, thanks for the advice. A few observations... Concrete truck drivers obviously do not carry a trowel so the top is quite rough - oh well. The ballast was build on a...

    Ballast weight

Kioti owners: I have a DK5010HS with a KL5510 loader (2600 lb lift cap.). I have pallet forks, oh, and loaded tires (880 lbs). I am without an owners manual that may describe proper ballast amounts. I need to move logs, large rocks, and gravel on a 10% to 15% grade in amongst a heavily treed...

Let's see some homemade 3 point ballast!

I have the forms built for my ballast and am trying to decide how much concrete to use. I can fill the non-beveled section anywhere from 27" high to 36" high. See sketch. I estimate 27" high to total 1200# (my original design) and every 3" of additional concrete in the rear section will add...

Let's see some homemade 3 point ballast!

Here is phase 1 of my homemade ballast box. It is a bolted steel frame using a Cat 1 drawbar, 2 foot long 2" receiver, 3/8" thick 3" angle, 1/4" thick 1.5" angle, and some threaded rod. It will be encased in concrete 24"W x 24"L x 28"H and estimate it will be 1300# including the steel. I...

    DK 10SE rear remote size

No one has answered so I can share what my 2016 DK5010 (older model) uses. Attached is a photo of one of my implement hoses. Silly me, I measured the very end at 13/16". I should have measured the wider flange but I estimate it is a 1" connector - I am not near the tractor. This does not...

    Loader  Quick Attach?

Your Monday morning laugh at a rookie. When is quick attach not very quick? When you try it on a 3year old tractor you bought used! I was feeling like a complete newbie on the weekend when I decided to remove my bucket for the first time. Just pull the handles, then curl and back up...

    4WD lever & indicator light.

Someone mentioned a few months back that their CK park brake indicator on the dash was there but did not light up when the park brake was engaged. It sounds similar to your 4WD indicator. I have a theory. I bet the dash assembly has the function/brains built in but certain models are not wired...

    Best Subsoiler/ripper

I just bought this old beast from my neighbour. It has been leaning against a tree on our property line for years, but I never owned a tractor...until now. It will be interesting to see who wins, tractor, subsoiler, or the ground and roots.

    Hydraulic Shuttle Operation

Here are a couple of rookie questions. I have a DK5010HS and I am curious how it 'really' works. If I press the clutch pedal, pick a gear, move the shuttle lever to forward and let out the clutch then clearly I am using the clutch and pressure plate to get the tractor moving. If the shuttle...

    Woodmaxx Snowblower Shear Bolts?

KanataRick:. I have learned a great deal from your thread. Thank you. Angles, parallelagrams, and PTO shaft phasing - that was a big one. I feel like I owe you. I'll bring you some shear pins the next time I am in Ottawa, but I guess you will not need them! Here are a couple of photos of my...

Snow Equipment Owning/Operating Pictures of your snow weapons

I was able to clean up the 30cm/12" of snow we received on Wednesday. I am up to a whopping 20 hours of seat time on my machine since getting it delivered in November. The blower is a Canadian made Lucknow. I always enjoy others photos so here are a few from today. Our yard is a bed and...

Lynx snowblower anyone else own one?

Disappointing for a new blower. My father sold snowblowers (Yardman walk behinds) and he and I had the same size/model, but his was one year newer. The only difference was the length of the chute before the deflector; 13" vs 20". Wow, what a difference it made in how far it could throw snow...

Microwave ovens. Am I just unlucky?

We purchased our Panasonic microwave in 1987 soon after we moved into our first home. I guess that makes it 32 years old. How old is that in tractor years? It heated tonight's dinner just fine. Maybe look for an old timer. Yes, it is 10:52 yesterday in your timezone. By the way, it's hot...

    Parking Brake Light CK2610 question

I am slow to respond because I had to visit my tractor to take photos. I expect the "brains" are still in the dashboard. I have to wonder if, to cut costs, Kioti simply stopped installing the park brake switch. Today I took photos of my park brake switch. You can see it is a basic closing...

    CK20 HST Lost 4wd

I found this in an online CK20 maunual but it didn't tell me for what year of tractor so it may not apply. Hopefully someone with the same model and year will chime in.

Ck4010 HST cab 12v power source and cable routing

Since no one has answered I will share what little I have learned so far about places to tap into 12volts. On the back of my DK5010, I found three available connectors just under the safety triangle bracket. The left one is hot, switched, ground. The middle is for trailer lights (L,R, park...

Ballast To load or not to load. That is the question.

Based on everyone's great advice I loaded the rear tires on my new-to-me DK5010hs - 50 gallons/400 lbs per side. Spreading crushed rock with the FEL showed that I am still a little light and could use a ballast box. I connected the 3Pt snowblower (600lb) for winter and gave it a test run with...

Wiring up a rear work light

Interesting. There is a blank switch position on my dash. I'll have to look. Here is what I found so far on the back of my new to me 2016 5010HS just above the PTO. Three connectors - left to right: A three pin (white plastic), a 6 position with 5 wires, and two bullets. - The three pin...

    New tractor owner

I have been following the forum for a while and just created an account. I am the new owner of a used Kioti DK5010HS tractor and loader. We have an acreage that we are building on. This summer we cleared 70 trees and are extremely grateful to our 82 yr.old neighbour/tractor who assisted us...
