Mainly bought this tractor to use in winter for snowblowing the Long driveway up to my house. Found a new 6' inverted Pronovost on auction for that job. Now I'm looking for a good used L853 fel or westendorf model to hook onto the tractor.

    New Kubota Corrosion

Does your shelter have a dirt floor? My car had corrosion after I stored it in my dirt floor barn for the winter. These photos you've shared look way worse than what I've dealt with, but the car was inside for only 5 months in the winter When no dew came up from the ground like it does every...

Tractor Colors~ What Would You Pick?

I'd probably pick orange because that's what I have now, and we had an Alis Chalmers when I was growing up. We did have a couple red tractors too; A Farmall Cub (my dad still uses it and it looks brand new still) and a Super C model with narrow front end. Oh, and also a gray Fergusen TO30 which...

Clearing 154 acres of woods in west Tennessee

I'd guess if you were retired (had lots of time) and own a good size bulldozer and chainsaw it could be quite a project on your own. If that weren't the situation, I'd hire it out if I could afford to. Keep us updated how it goes. This is interesting.

Box Scraper Land Planes / Grading Scrapers

I think you're on the right track with the land plane. I've been looking at them myself. I haven't found a used one near me, and new ones aren't in my budget this summer. I'll probably fab one this winter. There's a few videos on utube that demonstrate how good they work at finishing a road...

Sealed or serviceable bearing: your choice?

For myself and my personal equipment, -serviceable every time. It's usually simpler to use a zirk fitting than disassembling things to access a bearing to replace it.

    Fighting 'Solar Farm' Installation

Yup. Almost sounds like you live In our town here in northern NY. Same story here. Some want it, most of us don't, as at least not where they want it. Solar energy is a great concept, but lately it's gone overboard with promoting it. It uses up good farmland we desperately need. Where I live...

Any Excavation Professionals Feel Like Giving Advice?

Use the second guy. Textile fabric will keep the mud and loose soil from coming up into your limestone while letting water drain down through it. Road grindings aren't a good base for anything unless they're ground down to very fine like you could use to pave with. The stuff I got from the...

Excavator boom swings and drops too fast

Is it required to use Canadian made blanks South of the border? I know these make good brake line seal washers on Sunday when all the parts stores are closed and you need the truck the next day.

12x16 Shed Sitting on Blocks Needs Attention

I don't know the dimensions of the shed, but you could get probably few more seasons out of it if you can get a good layer of plastic (tarp or whatever) under the whole thing, then if there's enough space, slide some treated 6x6 posts under it from one side to the other to support the floor...

    Crimping hydraulic hoses at home?

I've always used aeroquip re-usable ends with the rubber cased steel braided hose. It's usually a quick fix that just needs a couple wrenches. If you have a chop saw, you can make your own hoses easily.

Learning how to drive with a trailer..

A flatbed trailer will give a better opportunity to see the situation behind the trailer. It could be even better with cameras (I've seen temporary cams that are magnet mounted and wireless transmit to a cellphone in the cab). Cams would be a huge benefit on a box trailer. Definitely practice...

    Boosting question.

This is gonna sound absurd, but it's not an old (antique) style tractor with reverse polarity is it? A couple young lads wanted to borrow my dad's old farmal cub a few years ago and tried jump starting it like a normal car or newer tractor with negative ground. They never got it going and just...

    Radiator hose "snapped"

I was wondering what type plastic it is too, but I've repaired some plastic stuff in the past with limited success. anything that gets cycled between hot and cold with plastic and metal doesn't seem like a good choice of materials to use. I can't imagine any repair to that plastic tank that I...

controller for pronovost puma 74iv hydraulic chute rotation and deflector

Lou, you nailed it. It took me a bit before I realized the joystick operated by cables. The only only others I've ever used were direct hydraulic plumbed. Not used to these new-fangled gizmos yet! So, yes. I'll be using the other two open ports on the loader circuit to run hoses back to the rear...

controller for pronovost puma 74iv hydraulic chute rotation and deflector

It's probably been a month or two since I checked in here. Yeah, I need to make up another set of hoses from the other loader ports to the rear and stack a second set of plug-ins on top of the ones already there. I've been waiting for the dealer to send the hose kit for the rotator, but I'm...

controller for pronovost puma 74iv hydraulic chute rotation and deflector

Yeah my drive is about 1/4 mile of crushed limestone. It has a bit of a crown in it though. I want to box blade the crown down so I'm not throwing the stone out to the field. I haven't tried the cruise yet. I bet its great for snowblowing a long stretch.

controller for pronovost puma 74iv hydraulic chute rotation and deflector

I agree about the remote levers being easier to reach when you're sittng sideways to watch behind you. I have an inverted unit that just tracks behind you as you drive forward. I've had a few injuries and the old neck doesnt crank around too good anymore. The other thing is I don't have the...

controller for pronovost puma 74iv hydraulic chute rotation and deflector

This thing is challenging to figure out for me while I'm working nights and sleeping days. So... the joystick is cable operated to a valve body where two hoses leave there and become the rear remote. It "looks" like power beyond is routed back into the system right now due to no loader or other...

controller for pronovost puma 74iv hydraulic chute rotation and deflector

Thank you Citydude, LouNY and CH4ohio. I'm not sure what the previous owner used the joystick for. There's only two ports from it running up to two ports on the loader port block (Whatever it's called). I'm not sure the joystick is spool type valve. If they had a loader up front with 4 Hyd...

I'm still a stranger who showed up here late and not sure how to initiate a thread. I guess I'll find out if this it the way or not. I bought an old, but nice L5030 grand a month or so ago and still getting familiar with it (it's still "new-fangled" to a guy like me that has mostly used old...

    Kubota paint color

I was just looking on amazon and sounds like the type 2 is lighter/brighter shade than type 1. I'll get some of each and paint the snowblower with the mismatch color. They have krylon and rustoleum. Tractor supply has brush-on paint for kubotas. Not sure if it's dark, light, oil base, acrylic...

Call off the dogs! I actually had a day off to look at the tractor in the daylight. The solution revealed itself instantly. Looking at the top link connection point at night didn't show the hydraulic cylinder covers are plastic and simple to remove with a 10mm wrench. Once that's done and with...

Thank you sixdogs. Pictures would be a huge help. I stopped by the tractor store again tonight to try to find another option. I'm getting more confused every time I look at them. This tractor can use cat1 or cat2 size top link ends and pins. I found some shorter pins that are theaded on one end...

Kubota L5030 HSTC Heater Fan Repair

I don't need a fan motor yet, but browsed parts the last week or so and saw the price for that fan is wicked high like you said. Hard to justify that cost. Thanks for sharing your fix!

Looks like I'm a little late to this dance. I see this thread started about 12 years ago. Anyway, I just brought home an L5030 that was built in 2003. I look forward to learning some things about this machine as it's the newest tractor I've ever used. In particular, the 3 point hitch on it is...
