On the utube reviews I’ve seen wix is at the top on filtering ability of the popular brands. I don’t know how they compare to OEM. I think Napa gold is the same as wix. That’s what Napa told me

Some filters don’t even look and feel to be high quality enough for me to put on. It don’t hurt to shop around but I want at least OEM standards we know the price is cheap when compared to a repair.

Runner you might plug that hole with a screw and ruck more grease in there. It most likely is a cone shaped bearing, like a wheel bearing. If you could get to it to pack it, be good packed for a long time

No if it’s stopped up you couldn’t pump it, providing it’s a good primed up gun. Sometimes that’s a big area to fill. So you should have judgement to get a feel of what’s happening. Good luck and keep on trying

Sir I’m not familiar with your machine. But I have replaced many PTO switches in my lifetime. All were bad. There is always a chance of a bad solenoid or wire loose to cause this problem. You got to start somewhere and your guess is probably better than anyone on here. Good luck

When that was bought new I’d bet it ran with 30 wt oil. Now multi viscosity, make enough difference to notice. And you might overhaul it and sadly have the same issue.

Rscotty before the oil change it was most likely some low on the dip stick. He filled it with new non diluted oil and it helped. I’ve got a 600 ford with an oil gauge, when it gets a quart low the gauge is up and down. That how I know to check oil in it. Just old 70 year old equipment for you

Since that solenoid is inside the starter, if that voltage remains constant while that key is turned the only thing left is within the starter. Be it a bad solonoid, or a bad starter motor. It might take two people to do this.

About the starter, the only thing I would know to do is place my digital volt meter as close as possible to that solenoid. Both of them, positive and negative. Then observe and confirm voltage at that point while it is clicking. That should give direction in which way to work. Good luck sir

It could. I’m not that technical. The seal will look perfect, wore or degraded just enough for oil not to seal it as it should. And the shaft may be scored instead. Never know until you investigate my friend. I like the way you think, good luck sir

Right. The shaft seal, where it is driven by the flywheel is the most likely culprit. It keeps the pump from priming then once it primes it’s good until you stop again. The pump is going to be removed the take the back end off. I buy the seals vintage tractor 800-853-2651

I vote JB weld. Walk by it and look, and think that stuff really holds. Maybe make a tv commercial.

Steve it the end that driven by the flywheel. Don’t mess with that other end, got a lot of springs and such. It will prime right up when you get that fixed. And even if you need a new wobble shaft it ain’t to costly. Good luck sir

My experience tells me your pump seal is most likely bad, on the suction side. It isn’t priming like it should. Not an expensive fix and not difficult

I would think the clutch coil is going bad.

From where I sit, it has a good 14 volt wire at the starter while cranking. So the ground must not be present. Bad ground connection somewhere.

Brack without assuming to much you should be able to see if the voltage regulator is still hooked up. And if it’s visible it be marked somewhere. Also if it has an alternator you could safely assume it’s 12 volt. You are smart by checking this out, the devices work best at their rated voltage. I...

Sir I worked in a plant and used these. Kerosene with electric motor. The problem was always the steam coil stopping up. Not related to fuel type. Mostly caused from putting to much soap thru it. Good luck

My thinking is probably leave the gasket off and use the orange silicone on the thermostat housing. I think on the rest just the gasket. Others might have a better idea.
