    Caltric replacement hood for X590?

$1200 seems a bit pricey. The X590 hood is made up of 4 individual pieces... top, left panel, right panel and grill. Do you need to replace all four pieces? Even adding up the price of all four pieces only comes to $960 LIST and you can usually do a bit better than list some places. This is...

    Tire chains on tractor tires

Not necessarily. The tire will only spin until the next cross chain comes around and contacts the ground. 4-link chains still offer a good traction enhancement compared to a bare R4 tire. In some ways I prefer 4-link chains to 2-link chains.

John Deere LA125 Lawn tractor 21HP B&S single crankshaft Oil Seal needed.

There is nothing preventative you can do. The automatic compression release mechanism on the camshaft has a bad habit of breaking on the B&S 31000-series engines. I have an Ariens with the same engine and I've replaced the camshaft three times in 7 years. B&S knows about the problem but refuses...

    Z330R zero turn mower

Are you sure about the model number? JD doesn't list a X330 "R". You mention the price is "up to $4200", are you bidding on a used machine? A new X330 with 48-inch deck lists for $4399.

    Mini CarryAll for my X380

I did the same thing to an Ariens rider that I use for a yard utility vehicle. Bolted a milk crate to the back. I also attached two short sections of PVC pipe to the back of the milk crate that holds a can of bug spray and a can of bee spray. I'd be lost without it.

    Changing type of deck

If you look in JD Parts, they show both deck types under the X320. The lift mechanism is identical for both. It looks like the non-rotating wheel deck uses one belt for the drive and spindles whereas the rotating wheel deck uses a separate belt for drive and spindles. You can compare diagrams in...

    Changing type of deck

The level of effort would depend on exactly what "other type of deck" you want to use as a replacement. Some decks will simply attach to the same hangers as the existing deck and off you go. Other decks may require a bit more fiddling and or fabrication.

John Deere OEM Easy Change Conversion Kit

Most machines these days use an oil drain hose which is usually more convenient and less messy than using the old style drain tube, You can buy drain hoses on Amazon for pretty much every mower engine around. It would probably make it much easier and less messy when changing oil.

Tuff Torq K46 - rebuild or just drain/refill oil?

By cold I mainly meant that it has been sitting a while in the garage and the spindles are cold. It sounds like my X500 acts just like your Husqy.
  17. J

Tuff Torq K46 - rebuild or just drain/refill oil?

Does the Husky only have issues getting the deck started when everything is cold or is it anytime? The reason I ask is I have a similar issue. An old Ariens will start the deck up effortlessly any time but a newer JD X500 struggles when the machine/deck is cold. When I first get it out of the...

Yeah, sorry... things did get a bit off track. I agree with the previous poster. Check the condition of the magnet. Tuff Torq K46 - rebuild or just drain/refill oil?

Check out the CVT transmissions in the huge Case 225HP Magnum farm tractors. They use a hydraulic motor (aka hydrostatic) to power the transmission. Deere's IVT transmission is similar and available in their 400HP 8-series tractors.
  20. J

Tuff Torq K46 - rebuild or just drain/refill oil?

That is not necessarily true. I bought a JD 175 Hydro new back in 1988. The manual stated to never change the hydrostatic oil... so I never did. I had that tractor for 24 years... mowing steep hills, pulling a heavy lawn cart, pulling a 900 lb lawn roller and pulling a 700 lb. landscape trailer...

Now that you've gotten it to move I would keep soaking it with a good penetrating oil like Kroil. Then see if you can get any movement, even a 1/8-turn is progress. If you haven't moved the knob in 3 years that is likely the cause of the problem. These ROD valves like to see regular...

How many hours will a 17HP Kawasaki Industrial Engine run without major problems?

I bought a JD 175 Hydro in 1987. It had a 14HP Kawasaki engine. I sold it 26 years later and it was still working like new. It had around 2200 hours on it. Tire pressure gauge for ballasted tractor tire

According to some manuals, the valve stem should be covered. This is from my 2720 manual: "Fill tubeless tires at least to valve stem level (minimum 75% full). Less solution would expose part of rim, possibly causing corrosion."

Tire pressure gauge for ballasted tractor tire

If the tire has been properly filled to cover the rim you'll likely still get some liquid even at 12 o'clock (I know I do). As others suggested, just get a liquid-compatible stick-type gauge at Tractor Supply for $9.00.

That coloring looks very similar to the oil in my X500 reservoir tank. As someone else mentioned, the tank really isn't a "reservoir" as it only hold a few ounces of oil. 2720 finally delivered!

After multiple delivery delays my 2720 finally arrived today! The remote spout control for the 54" blower hadn't come in yet but the dealer agreed to come out and install it once it arrives. I should have a few weeks yet before the first snow hits. :) I've been following these forums for...

Replace NAA vane hydraulic pump with piston type?

Does anyone know if it is still possible (feasible) to replace the original NAA vane hydraulic pump with a piston pump? Apparently at one time there was a factory kit to do so. It looks like you would need the new pump and new suction/pressure lines. Is there still a source for these items...

Is my hitch hydraulics working properly?

Can anyone tell me if the hydraulics on my Ford NAA hitch are working properly? I've changed all the fluids and the hitch raises and lowers okay but it does not seem to raise my snow blade as high as my 9N did. It seems to have plenty of power. My 72" LandPride snow blade weighs at least 250...

Where to get 12V / alternator wiring diagram?

I'm still working on what is turning out to be a life-long project... getting my NAA into running condition. :) The person I bought it from had already converted it to 12V but I've been having intermittent charging problems. One min it charges fine (10-15 amps) the next minute the ammeter is...

Direction of water flow on Jubilee/NAA?

Time for a silly question. What is the direction of water flow from the water pump? Is water entering the radiator at the top or the bottom? I'm trying to determine if my thermostat is opening.

NAA - Problem replacing temperature gauge

First - let me say that I really appreciate the help from this forum. Not many places to go to get advice from folks with experience with old Fords. I purchased a new temperature gauge for my NAA and replacing it was easy enough but the temperature probe will not tighten on the engine. Even...

Ford NAA - Do I need a new clutch?

I have my newly acquired NAA just about ready to go into service. One thing I've noticed is that the clutch really has a different feel than the one on my 9N. The throw is a lot shorter and it feels softer. In gears 1st thru 3rd and reverse, the tractor takes off very quickly if the clutch is...

Proper rear tire size for Ford Jubilee/NAA?

I'm trying to get my recently purchased Ford NAA into operational condition. The rear tires are "ok" but the rims are nasty and the innertubes are questionable. I would like to replace them prior to the upcoming snow season. I'm a little confused as to what size tire I should have installed...

High oil pressure on Ford NAA?

I just bought a 1954 Ford NAA and I am in the process of doing the usual tune-up and fluid replacements. I changed the oil and used 10W30 which is what I use in a 9N I have. The tractor starts quickly and runs very smooth but the oil pressure guage didn't work when I bought it and upon replacing...
