I find the level indicator on my Kioti to be very useful. I adjusted it when the tractor was new and havent needed to touch it since, I used a paint marker to mark the rod for my forks, that has worked great as well.

I would wager it’s easier to do the plugs on my 3.5 Ecoobost than a 1970’s Ford, they are right on the top of the engine. Btw, the 70’s dentsides are my all time favorite truck.

They dont stretch, they wear and its from poor quality oil/ or long oil change intervals.

And on the spark plug topic, these engines are hard on plugs. I do mine every 40K miles, but im also tuned. Thankfully they are very easy to replace.

They added electronically actuated louvers in front of the intercooler to cover it when not needed to eliminate the condensation, that was fixed in 2014 or 2015. I know my 15 has had no issues with intercooler condensation.

The Gen 1 3.5's didn't have phaser issues that the Gen 2's did, chains wearing is the main issue with the timing set on the gen 1. Clean oil is a must in any new engine and sadly its the most overlooked since most MFG's are pushing 10K intervals now which is a problem.

My exmark ZTR battery is almost 10 years old, has never come out of the mower.

No I do not, I will just disconnect the battery after I make sure its charged and passes a load test. I stopped using tenders a few years ago and my batteries have lasted longer just leaving them charged in the machine and disconnected.

It is a workhorse, especially for the price! My former brother in law and I take turns with it, he paid like $400 for it a few years ago and he uses it in the spring, I use it in the fall.

Now that the weather is cooler I’ve been cutting up all the wood I got from the summer storms into firewood lengths. Tractor of course is a great help moving stuff around. I’d love a grapple someday but for now a chain and this thing (not sure what it’s called) works pretty well.

I should have mentioned Maruyama, I have one as a lightweight option for big trimming jobs. It is a fantastic trimmer, light, powerful for its CC and butter smooth. If I could only have one trimmer though Id keep my KM130, its way more powerful than my 25cc Maruyama.

Stihl 194 is 31.8cc and 7.3 pounds, Echo 2511 is 25cc and 5.2 pounds so not at all apples to apples. Not sure of the HP for each but the Echo is obviously much lighter and in my hands has better balance and ergonomics than the Stihl.

Water soluble coolant like used in CNC machining centers works great from a spray bottle on drills in the press or hand drill and I prefer it over oil, its just harder to come by for most people.

If you dont have a weigh station near you find your local garbage dump, I have to weigh my truck/ trailer anytime I go there. Will give you a good idea if you know what your trucks curb weight is.

Usually it will tell you the payload rating which is basically the GVWR minus the trailer weight. At least the trailers I have list that. Otherwise find a CAT scale near you and weigh it.

I doubt many dealers if any actually transport for "free". They have to pay for the truck, trailer and the person to trailer it somehow so they will either charge a transportation fee or they will make it up in the cost of service or the price of the new machine.

You should just have to set the brake and shut off the PTO to keep the engine running. I wouldn't try to over ride the PTO safety.

This is all true. My ZTR is almost as wide as the deck which is 50" so it is very stable on hills, but as you mentioned side hilling it has a tendency to want to slide if its too wet.

This does show the ONE thing I can think of that a lawn tractor may be better at, steep hills. Though in my case my ZTR still handles my hills as good as my JD used to and actually doesn't bog at all going up them like my JD did.

I ditched my JD Lawn tractor in favor of an Exmark ZTR over a decade ago and have never once looked back. I kept the JD around for a summer because I thought I would need it to pull my small yard trailer, thatcher and aerator but my ZTR actually pulls all of those better than my JD could ever...

My guess is to ensure it burns off any residual moisture in the engine. Either way I agree with some here. Just run it when you need it and keep up on maintenance and it will be fine. I'd rather use my tractor for 20 minutes here and there than not use it at all.

It can be. Mine needed a little tuning after break in which is originally why I removed the limiters on the carb. If you can do buy do one mod though I highly recommend the 1/4” pitch conversion, cuts so much better than the stock 3/8” bar/chain that most come with.

Yeah, I tossed the limiters and wish now I hadn’t. It is kind of a pain to get to the screws with the saw running. Not a huge deal but annoying nonetheless.

It’s an old school mechanically injected diesel, they are loud and rattly. Unless you notice a lack of power or an unusual amount of smoke I wouldn’t worry about it. As for the three point, use the knob under the seat between your feet to adjust how fast the three point lowers.

The tight ones are left flat in the middle on purpose to allow semi trailers to use them easily although I’ve never seen anything needing to do that around here.

The lightest Stihl top handle saw is 1/2 pound heavier and less displacement. It also feels like a brick in the hand compared to the 2511T. Also this video shows the quality difference between the two. I love Stihl, but in the small top handle saws Echo has it.

Are any of you guys using your wood chips for mulch in flower beds? How does it look compared to the commercially available mulch?

This is after the initial tune, going to fine tune it when I use it this weekend. Throttle response is insanely fast and top end is higher RPM. This thing rips!

Yeah its become my go-to saw as well. I love my Stihl MS261 for bigger stuff but I find myself grabbing the 2511 more and more, awesome little saw.

Got the Egan pipe in today and installed. Haven't tuned the carb yet but so far its awesome! Its really not too loud, especially with ear pro on and boy is it snappy! Its got a good crackle to it too, love this saw even more now. Thanks for the recommendation!
