No chance on water getting in there and freezing. Tractor is parked under cover and never saw rain. Also, the dealer has torn apart the tractor and said they are waiting on parts, but hasn't told me what they think the problem is, so I don't know what parts they are supposedly waiting on.

Also, after it happened the first time, I again attempted to climb the hill and again it wouldn't move due to whatever issue it was. So, on the third try, I locked the rear, thinking it might help and nope, same thing again, so I doubt BOTH tires were spinning on their respective rims.

I guess that's possible...but every time the problem occurred, there was a significant vibration, too, like something mechanical slipping, ratcheting, or grinding. In any case, I don't have the tractor, so I can't test it.

Nothing was on the 3pt hitch. Once on the hill, the only way to continue up it was to use 4x4, because rear drive only resulted in sitting there with the loud noise and vibration in the rear end. Going down hill and on level ground I didn't need 4x4.

Just talked to the dealer. They tore into it and didn't find anything wrong. I asked if they test drove it to recreate the problem and he said they didn't. Sigh.... Not sure what's going to happen now, but he said they're going to continue troubleshooting next week.

Agreed. I recently bought my MF 4707. It is the nicest, most capable tractor I've ever owned or operated. Spent the extra money and got the air ride seat and it is such an improvement over mechanical suspension.

We have a TYM on the farm. It's a decent little machine. I'm sure TYMs have gotten better since it was purchased in '06. Having said that, I think I'd trust a Kioti more than I'd trust either a TYM or an LS. My two cents.

I know two guys local to me that have them. One is a 2606 and the other is a 2607. From what I gather, they like them. Personally, I think the 4707 is a much better option for a tractor in that horsepower range. However, if price and old world technology is what's important to you, then go for it.

We've had a few ourselves. Still have one 9N and one 8N. They are finicky on startup and are notorious for leaking oil onto the brakes. Glad you found five unicorns that never had these issues.

A '53 Jubilee or '54 NAA would be superior due to the upgraded engine. A '55+ would be better still due to improved rear wheel seals not leaking all over the brakes.

Yeah, I put a little bit of air in the tires when I bought the tractor. They were too soft for the work I do. BTW, now that the little problems have been addressed and fixed by the dealer (coolant leak above the cab, 3pt hitch controls were wonky), I really like this tractor. It's kind of perfect.

My 4707 has the FL3615 loader, which has a rating of 3,400lbs. I routinely lift and move 2,000lbs with the loader and many times fill the bucket with gravel or loam and that must run 2-3,000lbs. Even with just 2k, the back end is light and forces me to engage 4wd.

I made a new counterweight for my 4707. Quick attach style. 2,600lbs.

I bought the filter and oil from my dealer. I figure changing the oil will happen infrequently enough where I'd rather just pay whatever the dealer charges and have "Massey Ferguson" on the side in case something happens.

Just did my first oil and filter change. The two drain plugs were easy. The oil filter is not. It's also horizontal, so you're going to want to fill the new filter with oil and then let it sit for about ten minutes to get absorbed before you put it on.

My counterweight is 2,500lbs. It lifted it with no issues. It also tugs around my trailers perfectly fine. Why are you nitpicking it when I built it to suit my needs and does exactly what I wanted it to? This isn't my first rodeo.

I did use 1/4" steel on the tower. Also, I think I mentioned it already, but while you can't see it from the pics, I reinforced the top rail from the tower outward towards each side of the attachment. It should be plenty strong enough to tow trailers in the yard.

You can't tell from the pictures, but the gooseneck tower goes all the way to the bottom. Also, the top rail is beefed up towards the tractor.

OK, I finally finished it. I converted a SSQA backing structure for forks into a 3pt hitch setup. Also added a conventional hitch and a gooseneck hitch. Yeah, I had big problems with my 3pt hitch control. Took the dealer two times to fix it, once at our farm and when that didn't work, they came and picked it up and brought it back to their shop.

Mine had a handful of issues early on after I bought it a year ago. I think they've all been addressed and I'm very happy with the tractor. A few people have commented that they think the 4707 is underpowered, but I don't necessarily agree. It's a stump puller.

Except they are not easier to handle that way. They are significantly easier to handle when off the ground by about 12-16" or so. That's part of the problem with my current trailer. The bottom of the panels should be about a foot or more higher than where you are standing.

Just to follow up on my previous post, what you posted is exactly what we had to deal with. We made our own bushings, filed the throat of the steel block, and drilled and tapped in a grease fitting. Without doing this, the mechanisms are completely inoperable.

I had a Massey Ferguson 1643 Hydro with loader. After eight years, I couldn't take the hydro any longer and replaced it with a 4707 and Powershuttle (12x12). Very much prefer gears and now I'm happier.

The only TYM we have on our farm has had electrical gremlins for years. Nothing major, but annoying nonetheless. I personally think TYM and LS are on the same tier, with LS maybe being ranked slightly better.

Update: tractor was delivered back to me from the dealer a few days ago. I "think" the 3pt hitch issue was fixed, but I won't know until I hook up to trailers and start yanking them around the yard. That's hard to do with all the snow we have right now. Also, the leak over the cab was fixed...

Every tractor and vehicle I've ever purchased was tested with seat time beforehand. There really is no other way, IMO.

Strange. My local Massey dealer is loaded with new tractors. There must be four 4707s on the lot, let alone the other models.

My 4707 has air ride, front and rear wipers, radials, ePTO, and two rear remotes. I think it was all standard. I also got the upgraded FL3615 self-leveling loader with cushion.

Don't forget the radial tires. Those are big bucks.

Yes. The 7.3L Powerstroke was (is) a really good engine. Mine is 19 years old and a is still my daily driver and it tows trailers all the time. No complaints whatsoever. However, if I had to choose, I'd choose the 12V 5.9L Cummins. It's a little better.
