I don’t find removing the clutch & pulley much of an issue but I don’t lay on the floor anymore, I have a lift Drain the oil, remove engine & lay on work bench to replace seal I use a small manual chain hoist to lift engine from mower or get someone to help lift off mower

the crank shaft seal can usually be easily replaced without any engine disassembly, removed from the outside

You can put grooves in the guide with a demel tool, use a high temperature loctite product making sure all is perfectly clean Also if you have access from the outside you can drill & tap for a set screw
