How do you quiet a steering wheel squeak?

Would you try to pop that out and coat it with lithium grease?

How do you quiet a steering wheel squeak?

My RK55HSC has developed a pretty annoying steering wheel squeak. Everything in the cab seems covered with plastic and inaccessible. I've greased what zerks there are below the tractor. The noise seems to be inside near the steering wheel. Does anyone know how to get to whatever linkage and what...

RK55 Oil leak at hydraulic rear end plate

As an update, the leak continued after having that plate fixed. This time, it turned out to be a round plastic plug (not threaded--just pushed into the hole) behind the draw bar on the back end for accessing the gears I presume. The mechanic was flabbergasted at this design. There is no way this...

RK55 Oil leak at hydraulic rear end plate

Just out of warranty (of course), I found an oil puddle on the ground below my pull bar. The RK mechanic told me that even if it was under warranty, it wouldn't be covered because gaskets and sealant are considered wear items. So I had a local independent mechanic fix it. There's a plate above...

RK55 DPF Regeneration And Engine Service Indicator

I just had my second regen at 77-hr. My first one was at 17-hr. Each time I parked it and left it at 2400-rpm for approximately a half hour.

    RK55 Exclamation Point on Dash.

The controller behind the dash burned up on mine. When it did, it gave me that exclamation point, wouldn't start, and blew smoke into the cab. Maybe it is signifying an electrical system problem. Something's not right. Was it just a matter of taking one battery out and replacing it with another...

    Hydraulic hose covering

I wonder the same thing. Mine is fraying on the bottom but I think that is from it rubbing against the tire when I make a sharp turn. Do the actual rubber hoses deteriorate quickly in the sun? Would the covering help shade the hoses?

    Real world RK ownership Experience

I can share my experience with an RK55HC. I was drawn to the value and what seemed like a good tractor and solid service. I had seen this tractor sitting in the lot for quite some time, almost a year. I asked if I could have the newer model. Nope, they said. Then we spoke to the local mechanic...

RK55 Hydrostatic 50-hour Service: My first big RK post

Approaching my 50-hours. I'm not finding most filter and oil SKUs on ruralking.com. I found only one product. Would these SKUs have changed? Aside from saving labor cost, what are the advantages of doing the service yourself? Would doing so possibly cause difficulty in getting warranty service...

    RK37 AC

Update: I cleaned and washed the condenser coils. Air conditioning blows only mildly cooler air than outdoors. Something is the matter, but there must be a little bit of refrigerant still left.

    RK37 AC

Thanks. I'd be curious to know how many kg of 134a the system takes in case I do need to charge it myself. I always clean the radiator and condenser screens, but if I can figure out how to get the screens off without disassembling the entire engine bay framework, I will clean the condenser...

    RK37 AC

My RK55 stopped blowing cold after 30 hours. The store tractor salesman recommends adding a can of 134a with sealer. I don't want to introduce moisture with a can and gauge only on the low side, or over-pressurize the high side and cause damage. I cannot reach the newly-hired tractor mechanic on...

    Love it but regret it

I am having the same tractor service frustrations in Sweetwater, TN. Eternal holds, store and mobile tractor mechanics quit, new tractor mechanic never available in person or on phone, never answers phone, never calls back when leaving my number, etc. I've tried emailing and calling for the...

    Chain Attachment Point

I want to find an old tire and rim to loop the chain over.

    Chain Attachment Point

It does, but I can't get access across a ditch and dense pines around the back. I can loosen dirt first with a shovel. Thanks for the advice.

    Joystick Button

Ah, okay. Makes sense. No, I didn't. But maybe RK has the button standard.

    Chain Attachment Point

I had one. Hook the chain over the red bolt?

    Chain Attachment Point

I actually meant the drawbar. Is that the strongest attachment for a chain? How should you best attach the chain to the tractor?

    Joystick Button

What is the push button for on the front of the joystick lever knob? I don't see any reference to it in the 55HC owner's manual.

    Chain Attachment Point

I want to pull out a large shrub with a 3-inch trunk. I have a shrub grubber chain and Grade 43 3/8-inch chain. I know to throw a blanket over the chain. Is the best attachment point to the tractor to hook the chain around the swing drawbar pin?

    Tip Angles

Being brand new to tractors, I have no idea what grades are considered safe, caution, and extreme danger for tipping over. The 55HC manual doesn't discuss tip angles. I'm probably being overly cautious now. For instance this grade falls off to the left at about 3:12 to 4:12. Is that safe to...

    Tire Pressures

Can anyone point me to the tire pressure specs in the 55HC manual? I'm not finding them. The RK tech did not know when I called, if you can believe that. Or if you just know what is best practice in general, I'd appreciate hearing. Is there any secret to checking and filling the tires since they...

    Extendable lower arms

New owner of a 55HC, my first tractor ever, so I appreciate reading these boards. When do you use the extendable lower arms? Are they for certain implements, or for ease of hooking up?
