    1845 v. 1850

Yeah the 1850 is certainly the better value, but if I buy that I think I will need to keep the zt for the house yard. 1850 will for sure be to big

    1845 v. 1850

It's a grass pasture. Some of it needs to be bush hogged still, but the intent is to have more grasses in the fields and less brush. I will till, harrow , power rake or whatever as I learn more but we want it to be more grass like and mowed often. PO just let it grow and it is a lot of...

    1845 v. 1850

I'm really struggling if I should move up to the 1850 for the extra pto power as a trade off to maneuverability. i have many areas with trees that I want to be able to mow. I think the 90" mower will be to big. I mean it will be nice on the open areas for sure, but I would like to maintain...

    Thoughts on new Ventrac 4520?

I understand tier iv is an issue but I was hoping for a more powerful diesel in the ventrac. I had a demo on my property and I felt it struggled a little. Plus the fact that the slope rating for the diesel is not continuous made me rule out the ventrac. I have an onsite diesel tank and don't...

Value Proposition: What Makes Your Brand Of Tractor Better Than The Others?

Honestly I considered a lot of brands. For me it came down to availability. From what was available I chose Branson because of its simplicity. Engine parts will be easier to source if the dealer disappears. It is also easier to work on without special computer diagnostics. Hopefully other...

    1845 v. 1850

Any opinions on if the 1845 is nimble enough to be a lawnmower replacement for the zt? Understanding that it cannot turn it's own length

    1845 v. 1850

Anyone have any experience with the 1845 and 1850? My situation I have a nice branson tractor but it does not do slopes well So the PT would be mostly mowing my sloped areas (~15 acres max 30 degrees) and hopefully the house yard I am looking for opinions on maneuverability. Could it replace...

    Pto rpm question

Thanks for the replies. If I get the 1845 I was thinking about getting a Lane shark and trying to adapt it. Has anyone else done that?

    Pto rpm question

Ok so it's the hydraulic motor on the implement side that determines the rpm, correct? I calculated the hp on the 1845 pto to be ~26. Does that seem right?

    Pto rpm question

Looking at power trac and diving in to the specs. I am considering a 1845 and I am wondering does the hydraulic pto run at 540 rpm like my tractor does? Or do hydraulic pto run a different standard? Thanks

    Branson 5520R 50Hrs Service

303 is a no no. lot's of states have a stop sale on 303 now and it is getting harder to find. That's a good thing. Travellers is blended by one of the warren companies. I'm sure it decent stuff, I probably would have used it if Mobil 424 was not on sale.

What have you done to your Branson today?

Not JM7500 but TSC had Mobil 1 delvac (424) for sale last time I was there 49.99 a 5 gallon pail

What tires are on your truck?

Defender LTX right now. About 50k and they are done, they did their service. Good in rain, just ok in snow. I tow heavy often so I am happy with the results. Had Cooper HT3 before that, they wore like iron but were not so good in the rain. I now need a more AT type tire that will also have...

Buying Advice Looking for a tractor

OP may be a troll, don't know. However the question is not that strange to me, as it was similar to myself six months ago. I went from .5 to 85 acres. Thought I was going to keep half of it mowed all the time. I now realize that is unrealistic and I have tempered my expectations. I never...

    Fram tractor hydraulic fluid?

VOA cannot tell the whole picture. Non metallic additives for example do not show up in a VOA. VOA also will not tell you the group number of the base, etc.

What have you done to your Branson today?

I did my 50 hour service a couple of days ago. I ended up pouring the hydraulic fluid into a smaller container for easier filling. took awhile but I was mostly mess free (mostly). I do think I overfilled so now I am thinking I have to drain some out :(

Filter C&P (cut & post) | phone users - picture heavy

I am also active a bitog. I don't stress that hard about oil though. I use Kirkland in the truck right now, been known to use cheaper filters. I just like oil for some strange reason. I am mostly a spec guy, so I look for A40 oils for my P cars, CK4 for my Diesels. I do UOA on every change...

    Fram tractor hydraulic fluid?

My point is you don't know what man came armed with the 22 and which one came armed with the 357 without looking (data) at this point you just know they both are armed (j20c) :) If the Mahindra oil is truly from Warren oil I'm not sure where you can get the off label stuff. If it's from WPP...

    Fram tractor hydraulic fluid?

I've sent an email to pqia to see if they would consider testing UTTO being as there are quite a few consumers with scut and cut tractors now. Would be great if they did. https://pqia.org/

    Fram tractor hydraulic fluid?

OK but how is that determined? I mean specs are for sure set as minimums, but it could be that mobil 424 meets the minimum and tsc exceeds it. We have know way of knowing so it's all just marketing at this point. I'm not making a case for either fluid, I'm just saying that proclaiming one oil...

    Fram tractor hydraulic fluid?

So question if fluid A (generic) is 30 bucks for five gallons and meets j20c and udt and fluid B is name brand 80 bucks for 5 gallons and meet j20c and udt What makes the name brand "better"? They both meet the same manufactures specs and that is what matters, right? FWIW I am using Mobil 424...

Filter C&P (cut & post) | phone users - picture heavy

I have quite a few of them, mostly relating to equipment I run. So 3.5 EB, 6.7 powerstroke and my P cars. Now that I have the Branson and Grasshopper I'll have more to add to the mix.

Filter C&P (cut & post) | phone users - picture heavy

Filter has slightly over 10k miles on a powerstroke 6.7. Filter had no tears in media and looked clean of larger debris. It was IMO well built. Large spring in the bottom of the can, wire backed media and pliable adbv.

Filter C&P (cut & post) | phone users - picture heavy

One of the weird things I like to do is cut filters and look at how they are constructed. It's not scientific and decisions on what to run should not be made based on pictures. with that being said I have a lot of pictures of different filters cut and quite a few ready to be opened. My...

    Fram tractor hydraulic fluid?

I think this thread is supposed to be about Fram oil, so OP I am sorry for the hijack. I am going to start a thread for filters. 3pt hitch problem

I was mowing with my ditch mower yesterday and had a problem with my 3pt. I was mowing very steep sections of my property. Inclines up to and probably past 30 degree's. Up and down for an hour or two. Suddenly I got to the top of one hill, raised the flail arm that rotates on the vertical...

    Is this frost weed?

So many things are popping up that I am getting behind on my tasks. Add to that I had to go back to FL for a week so that has put a dent in my time budget. Is this frost weed?

New to land maintenance and I have a question about these plants that are everywhere. Is this frost weed? Should I get rid of it and if so how? I mow it and it pops right back. If I leave it it gets pretty tall.

    Filling a cistern

Pictures don't really show scale. I would estimate 5 and a half feet across and I can see down about 3 or more feet. That would be one big fire pit. For those saying get the wood out. I am not going in this thing unless I absolutely have to. All I need is for something to shift and snag my...

    Filling a cistern

well I used a lot of petroleum products and as predicted it would not light. It was fun watching the flame front in the bowl of the cistern. As for punching a hole in it, with the amount of rain we have been getting this thing should be full. Initially I had an idea to fill it and float the...

    Filling a cistern

What if I made a pipe with a 90 degree on it and shoved one end down as far as I could and put a fan on the other end? You think that would keep the fire going for awhile and burn this stuff? I really don't want to remove the tree stuff by hand, it looks like a lot.
