    I have the older Kubota 500 and the new updated Kubota 520, the 520 is much improved over the 500 with a power boost and it's much nicer to run. Both go about 25 MPH but the 520 gets there much faster and holds its speed much better on hills. SR

    SO, like I said above, "it depends on what pump you have". I woulod consider my Timberwolf splitter "modern", and it has a "single stage" pump on it and requires more than 12hp to get full power out of the splitter! BTW, I really like the single stage pump it has on it. SR

    I have a 3 point splitter that runs off the tractors remotes, but the one in the pictures above has it's own pump. The difference between the two is speed! Having it's own pump really speeds the ram up and it's plenty fast even at the aprox 1400 RPM I generally run at. SR

    I would make sure both gasket surfaces are smooth, (flat file off any burrs) then put on a new gasket WITH a thin layer of auto grade silicone on both medal surfaces and torque the bolts. Then let the tiller set overnight before you use it. SR
