$10K L5030 Plus Restoration, or $25K Newer Tractor With Perilous Electronics?

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned buying a new TYM built tractor. If they have emission issues all of that can be completely bypassed without issue as per threads on this forum.

Buying a ZTR, what should I look for, or avoid?

2006 Gravely commercial 260 owner here, we bought it new with a commercial Kohler Command 27hp gas engine. I have put $0 in engine repairs or parts except maintenance items. I would never be able to justify the extra cost of a diesel engine. When I worked at a small engine shop we had many, many...

    compact tractor

In Indiana, my understanding is that tractors can be on the road as long as they have a SMV triangle or some kind of flashers on the rear. Farm vehicles actually have the right of way here, I believe.

    Price Check Sell or Scrap

If I had them, I would throw them up on Facebook marketplace for at least a little while and see if you get any bites. It seems a shame to just scrap them, but I wouldn't want to put any time in it myself. Put them up for sale for 3 or 4 times scrap price and I bet someone would buy them.

TC 33D Hyd leak from weep hole

I had the exact same leak on my TC-30 and the exact same hope of an easy fix with an "O" ring. Alas, it was not to be. If you check this thread, NH 2005 TC30 leaking internally $4000 to fix? anyone else? on the second and third pages, I have several pictures of what I found and fixed on mine.

Loader Aftermarket loader on a Ford 1520

I bought my TC-30 without a loader because the price was great (needed a bit of work that I did). I ended up driving about 12 hours one way to buy a loader that fit it. I bought an Ansung NTC-30 loader, it has a quick attach and a bit higher lift than the 4108 that New Holland made for it. You...

    Alternate Hydraulic Oil and Filter

I repaired a leak on my TC-30 last year that required me to split the tractor and I replaced all the hydro fluid with fluid from Rural King. I just made sure it met the spec for New Holland (134D maybe?) I found no need to spend $$$ when a generic that meets spec is only $. I certainly don't buy...

Mold and grass buildup on mower deck underside

I have a 2007 Gravely commercial zero turn. I use my blower to blow off the top of the deck after every mowing, but I have never needed to clean the underside of the deck. I mow wet grass all the time. The statement above about not all decks are created equal is certainly true. The underside of...

Buying a ZTR, what should I look for, or avoid?

I worked at a hardware store that sold Gravely mowers along with a competent small engine shop. Most of the commercial mowers have good engines on them, and most of the residential mowers have much lower quality engines on them. The commercial Kohler (Command) engines were just as good as the...

Aluminum Axle Housing on Smaller Tractors

Several years ago (15ish) I worked at a rental store. We had a John Deere CUT, 33hp but can't remember the model number, that had aluminum rear axle housings. A customer rented it without a rear attachment on the 3 pt hitch. They backed into a concrete curb and busted the rear axle housings...

    Tractor Hours/Year

I've only put about 50 hours on my TC30 since I got it 2 1/2 years ago. But those 50 hours of tractor time have saved me 100s of manual labor hours, or not being able to do the task at all. Well worth it to me.

Just wanted to follow up on this thread. The new gasket from Messicks was metal, not paper. $180 with shipping is still hard to swallow. From start to finish I have about 16 hours and $450 in it. Well worth it IMO.

Since the Zero, the Tractor Sits

When I bought my TC30 a couple of years ago, it came with a MMM, but no loader. I didn't need the MMM because I already had a nice commercial Z turn mower. I sold the MMM to help pay for the loader I bought for my TC30. I would have always just been taking up space.
