What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

I would certainly want to have something to protect the lines. Maybe it can be added without much trouble now. Wont be long and I will be trying to do the same to mine.

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

Nice work! Bet you feel better knowing you don't have a weak link anymore. I wonder if those people who bent the frames, had any success fixing it?
  11. oldrustysteel

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

You may want to consider adding the filter. Most of the hydraulic components are pretty pricey. Some are hard to locate replacements for, and some are in places that only a 4 year old can get to..

    Future electric oil

We are praying for you, my friend. I really enjoy your contributions on this forum. You are from the OLD school where common sense and hard work was a necessity to make a good honest living. Unfortunately those days are long gone.

    Future electric oil

I have never known our power grids to be as frail as they are now. So lets quadruple the demand and expect everything to be just Fine and Dandy. Why the rush to put us lower than a third-world country?

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

I remember when I changed my switch so the hour meter worked on the key switch only. I noticed the original had the wires soldered to the bottom, and there were 2 unused solder points on the switch. I wondered then if maybe those were to be used for accessories when the key is on. I saved it and...

    Future electric oil

I can't understand how anyone can think the future is going to be electric. In the last 3 years our electricity has been off at least 4 times. We constantly hear of states talking about brown outs and warning the power will go out. Remember Texas a few years ago? Cold weather and then the power...

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

Nice work. Maybe you can post some pics soon. Did the blade mod seem to help? I have considered widening the blade, but I don't want to alter it permanently. I want to make something that just hangs or attaches to blade easily. How many hours on your groundhog?

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

I remember seeing the shorter teeth on your bucket, that's what prompted me to ask about length. was hoping you knew the length they extended out past the bucket edge. It looked like about 2" to me.

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

I think that when I install the ext., my issue will be fixed. At least they acknowledged the problem and came up with a cure. Way more than I expected. You got good customer service from your manufacturer, if I recall your posts correctly.

It's a good day when there is a wooden box waiting on your deck when you get home.
  27. oldrustysteel

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

They probably try to make one tank style fit several different models. The port can't be too near the bottom because the strainer has to screw in the port. If the strainer is 3" in diameter, then the port would need to be about 1-3/4" above the bottom.
  28. oldrustysteel

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

Dump trailers sit up pretty high. ramps were probably steeper than I would want to try. Unless maybe your ramps are 8-10 ft long.
  29. oldrustysteel

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

The pump supply line enters the hyd tank very low on the rear side. When going downhill, the fluid in the tank moves forward enough to allow the pump to pull air. The extension will move the inlet very close to the center of the tank. The tank is approximately 12x24" and lays horizontally...
  30. oldrustysteel

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

The videos show the hydraulic oil and filter (strainer) change, but it also shows how the extension tube is used, as it comes off when he removes the strainer. Probably not much of a video, unless you have an L12.
  31. oldrustysteel

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

The end of the suction strainer is threaded and screwed onto the fitting in the tank. Remove the strainer, screw on the extension to the fitting in the tank. screw the strainer onto the ext. The extension has male threads on one end and female threads on other.

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

Importing and modifying a new mini excavator from China

Both are certainly possible. I suspect the mesh is the likely culprit. I have considered removing the swing motor and enlarging the mounting holes so there would be a little adjustment possible. Then push the motor a little closer to the ring gear to remove the slack. As the weather here...

Importing and modifying a new mini excavator from China

Could you turn camera on and slide it under the digger and then wiggle the house? Or use a selfie-stick? I would be impressed if the hoses allowed the movement we see. Very interesting, must be a recessed bolt in there. Or a set screw up above the gear?

Importing and modifying a new mini excavator from China

Thats about the same amount of play I have. I would like to know where the play is coming from. Maybe the drive gear could be moved closer to the ring gear? Or maybe its in the keyway between the motor shaft and gear? Hopefully the cushion valve will substantially lower the chance of damage...

What did I find on the farm?

An uncovered well is pretty dangerous. I immediately went and got a piece of 3/4" treated plywood and covered it. Its only about 100' from the old haunted barn. I know there is an old,old house foundation there hiding somewhere. I was looking for the old house when I found the well.

One of the videos I considered posting for Sonny, showed the guy putting track on using a strap and the bucket to pull it on. I didn't like that idea so I didn't post it. I am not doubting you when you say you have to remove the drive wheel when track is off on the inside, but I don't...

I don't think it will be too difficult. I am going by what I have seen, I haven't lost one yet. Loosening the tensioning roller will be first. I think you remove the grease fitting for that. Then raise up that side with your bucket and put track back on one end and use the wheel motor to...

That 6.0 was a workhorse. It will be interesting to see how the EcoBoost will hold up.
  74. oldrustysteel

What do you drive for a truck?

When I think about it, seems like all the American trucks were great thru the 90s. Seems like after 2000 the quality started dropping as the prices starting going up and up. Unless the big 3 improve quality, my next truck will be a Tundra.
  75. oldrustysteel

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

Correct. That is a major concern, as well as the power needed. Our little single cylinder engines don't have much power to spare.
  76. oldrustysteel

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

Probably was on his mind. I doubt that he makes any foolish mistakes. It's obvious he has been fabbing for a long time. I won't try the hydraulic motor until I know how much heat is produced on a 80* day.

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

Cam is quite the Entrepreneur. He saw an opportunity and he jumped on it fast.. I was amazed at how quickly he was able to start putting kits together and offering them for sale. I hope the economy holds together long enough for him to make some good money..
  78. oldrustysteel

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

Yes, I want to try it, but not sure about the hydraulic motor. I don't have the skill, parts, tools or time to do what he did. Mine will be crude, more of a steppingstone or a learning experience. If it fails, no big deal.

Once you use an extended cab, it would be hard to give up the extra room for tools, boots, people. I also wouldn't want less than 6-1/2' bed. The old truck I have is perfect for me.

Exactly!! And its rather enjoyable to make improvements on a NEW piece of equipment, not the old, dirty, rusty, greasy, wore-out, stuff I usually work on.

The one thing that you wonder why you didn't buy sooner?

I gave 6500 for mine tax and delivery included, but I think prices are dropping. Mine is the L12 which I think is one of the better models. there are some different models in the 4000 price range.

    Cast iron repair

After seeing the pic of the wheel, I am not so sure welding is the best idea. I had pictured in my mind a much thicker and heavier wheel. While its possible with a smaller diameter rod to weld cast that thin, Tig may be the better option if it's as thin as it looks in pic. I hope I haven't...

Are tractors and equipment a good investment right now?

Thats why most taxes are taken from you at time of sale, or in the case of income tax, its withheld by the employer so you never actually possess it. What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

I don't know. They are so overgrown I have a hard time getting close to the base. I may be able to scratch them out with the bucket. The thumb wont grab anything less than 4 or 5 ". Live and learn for me at this point.

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

Yea, I dont expect to have something that will chew up 1" stuff. Realistically, if it will cut 1/4 or maybe 1/2", I will be happy. Then I can get in there and cut the base out with a small battery chainsaw or equivalent, at a later date.
  108. oldrustysteel

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

I don't have a grapple, maybe you are thinking of the thumb? The adjustable angle mechanism could possibly be fitted with a spring to allow it to flex a little when you encounter bigger stuff. Then you would leave it "loose" so you have that safety feature. You have lots of possibilities...

I think you have a reputable fuel supplier, so you may never have an issue, which is great for you. I have to get my diesel from UDF so I am skeptical of the quality. Their main product is ice cream, so I don't expect high quality fuel. I am unfamiliar with Racor so I want to check...

Buying Advice Tier V emission standards soon for new diesel engine tractors?

Several years ago, I researched this issue and I found it is true that when sulfur is removed, lubricity is also removed with it. At that point is up to the fuel company to add the necessary lubricant package to replace what was removed. I do not trust the fuel companies to always do what they...

Buying Advice Tier V emission standards soon for new diesel engine tractors?

The biggest improvement in diesel pollution, IMO, was a few years ago, when they removed almost all the sulfur from the fuel. Before they did that, the exhaust gave me headaches, but now, no issues. Unfortunately, without the sulfur, our engines will wear more rapidly. I add 3oz of 2cycle oil to...
