    He crossed the rainbow bridge

The problem with getting old, aside from not wanting to deal with training a pup. Is that you don't want to leave a heartbroken critter behind. The solution my brother-in-law found, was to enquire at the vet about an animal that had to be given up when their owners were sent off to the geezer...

Anyone ever use freeze protection valves?

I concur. I lived in Bayou Vista just across from Galveston for a bit and noticed it was always warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, by around 10'F +/- than if you when up into Houston. Although, when Houston is 104'F being at 94'F with high humidity isn't that much, if any, of a relief.

Does anyone own one of the modern cast iron or carbon steel frying pans?

Apparently Lodge cast iron comes in a couple of varieties; Seasoned Cast Iron, and Heat-enhanced Cast Iron. The later (more expensive) heat-enhanced cast iron is sold as dishwasher safe and frequently used for preparing and serving individual portions of food in commercial eateries. I was at...

Anyone ever use freeze protection valves?

This has got me to thinking... it's rough to start nowadays, but I eventually get up to speed. I'm almost in our new house. It has fully foamed interior insulation - attic & all exterior walls. The wiring and plumbing came after, and all of the pumping except for the fixtures are PEX. All...

Does anyone own one of the modern cast iron or carbon steel frying pans?

I've heard that old cast iron is better than new. The thought is that the casting method, metals used and finish were better. It's easy to find contradictory views however. We have a couple we use frequently. If it's too crusty and stuck with whatever, I use a chainmail scrubber, maybe a...

9 Worst Things You Can Do to a Diesel Engine

9 Worst Things You Can Do to a Diesel Engine

This doesn't apply to vehicles that get run often, and thus get brought up to temperature frequently and get the fuel replaced regularly. But, my understanding is that vehicles that sit for long periods it's best to keep the fuel tank full as possible and use additives, as condensation can...

Wanting to "cut" a slot in the ground

I've had a belt drive McLane I've used at the house for years. Yeah, I've gone through 3-4 belts over the course of about 10 years, but I'd consider the cost vs. use in buying one. Belts are cheap, and the link ones are easy to change out.

    Seller Beware

I realize this is approaching the subject backwards. But when buying something I'd be wary of anyone requesting that cash be brought. Here, that's a good way to be robbed. Sure you're showing up at an address, but is it their address? Maybe they know the homeowner won't be there for a while...

    death of regular cab pickups

I have a Crew Cab Dually with an 8-foot box. The trouble is at 22 feet long it's getting harder to park and maneuver. It gets turned away at carwashes and in the last parking spot I backed into both rear tires with sitting on the lines.

Is country line stuff any good compared to land pride?

I believe this is in reference to Stellantis North America having 90% of production occurring at the Saltillo Truck Assembly Plant in Mexico. Although Ram trucks are still assembled at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant and the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Michigan.

    Thoughts on 02 F450 dump

I own an F-450 although in a completely different configuration (diesel, crew cab, 8 ft box) as I use mine as an RV tug. If you need tires a full replacement can cost up to $3000 on those 19.5 rims. And since they're 10 bolt rims you won't be swapping with much of anything else. Also, the...

    Side by Side or 4x4

Grandkids. I'll allow my grandson to drive the Kawasaki Mule, but I'd never let him try and drive my (or any other) truck.

The next guy that claims "green (or orange) paint doubles the price"

I bent a rod on my FEL and bought a new rod from the dealer (much cheaper than a complete cylinder). What I found out while researching my problem was that apparently, Massey had a problem with the original rod diameter and a larger bore rod was available that fit the same cylinder. If I'd had...

The next guy that claims "green (or orange) paint doubles the price"

I had a bent rod on my FEL. Bought a new rod from the dealer (far less than a complete cylinder) and it came with all the seals. I researched on Youtube about cylinder repair (which was a complete waste of time as none of the videos showed what I had). Long story short, the job was done...

    Torque Wrench Suggestions

This is what I use. It allows me to use a breaker bar of whatever length I need and doesn't take up much room. It's around $80 on Bezo'sMart.

Will these fit the Massey 1725?

Maybe try AGCO's site to find a dealer. Shop AGCO Parts

Will these fit the Massey 1725?

The rule of thumb I go by is that they'll usually mention everything under the sun that the part can go on in order to maximize sales. If they don't mention any other brand it's because it won't fit any other brand. Occasionally, you will see postings about rims that can be exchanged, but...

What is the coldest you have ever been ?

Cold is relative. I've spent January in Tobolsk Russia which is in Siberia. I've been on a North Sea oil platform that lost hotel services and had to pile on the blankets at night. And, I've slept in tents during the winter snowstorms with the boy scouts back before they fell to ruin. But...

    Just a minor gripe.

Time to cut up an old car tire drill a couple of holes and secure it with tie wraps.

Home Building Questions - Propane - All electric - Fireplace

As was already mentioned an on-demand hot water heater may be the way to go. These can be propane or electric, centrally located or placed at the delivery point. Depending on the area solar water heaters can be an option, if for nothing else than preheat. How fast you get hot water depends on...

    HD box blade?

This is mine. A roll-over box blade. As such it's built like a tank. Since its a specialty item they are not cheap. I use mine to maintain trails where I can't turn around and this allows me to pull, push or drop the scarifiers.

    Generators, sizes and fuel options?

Maybe this will help. I had a 6.5KW Duromax that threw a rod this past summer. I had run it only on propane and it was probably underpowered to run my RV trailer. I know I couldn't run both AC units with it. Duromax gives a 3 years non-commercial warranty. Since I had bought it on Amazon it...

    Generators, sizes and fuel options?

Yes to both questions. Surge protectors are common with RV users on the shore power cable. You can use the same cable and surge protector on a generator. There are a (very) few gasoline/LP/NG units out there. I'm not aware of any diesel combo units.

    Generators, sizes and fuel options?

Somewhere in the fine print it probably says 20LB tank will run for 5 hours at 60% load and 70'F. The difference between sales and marketing is that sales don't know they're lying.
