yea, its great, but also tough to get used to after having an old gear drive with no synchro's. my feet are trained to run the brakes on the right and the clutch on the left, not the forward and reverse on the right and the brakes on the left.

dang, if someone gave me those prices, in USD I would tell them to come and do it straight away! I think its funny how the aussies call that an "american style barn" did not see your location in the first post. I worked for 2 years out by the Queensland/SA corner. Moomba, and got to know the...

Looks awesome! What company? I love that style but save a bit of money doing clear span. I got an updated quote... Holy hell. 55k for the building itself and I can't imagine concrete will be any less than about 11 per sq foot. So I'm going to have to find another company or downsize. I got a...

    anyone switch to LED lights?

got my led's installed. the work light with the switch seems pretty heavy duty. nice cast housing, big stainless hardware. the lights are brigter to the eye, esp. the back up lights. the blinkers are a bit faster, but not enough to make me put the resistor in. the 4 way flasher is a nice...

with the 10 ft eave and 60 wide, i have about 18 feet peak height with a 3/12 and 20 with a 4/12 pitch and the center bay max height is about 15. at 12 feet wide in the center bay we still have 12 foot of interior height minimum at 3/12 and 14 at 4/12. with a truss wall height at 14, its 20...

    new barn design help

huh, never seen it that way. love it. much stiffer wall package than 2x4 on the flat. i was thinking steel to keep the overall height of the building lower and still keep good interior height for the center bay. also the cost for materials seems not that much different and the steel comes all...

    new barn design help

i was thinking back corner for wood shop. maybe 20x20. that would really be plenty for me. its actually more money to do the center posts vs clear span the 60 feet. 60 feet is nothing to these guys. no trusses, clear span steel. 40 depth only requires 3 frames.

yea, i think drive through on at least the center bay. its for sure larger than our house! house is 1900 sq ft ranch. ill shoot for a light color roof, good advice. not really planning on hay in this building. if we end with with animals they will get their own space.

we want to build a workshop. I am thinking about 60 x 40. want a steel building for good bay height in the center, but keeping it lower overall to lower its visual impact on the property. It will be placed a few hundred feet in front of our home on a narrow, long 5 acre plot. we will store a...

    anyone switch to LED lights?

a properly made LED bulb should work fine, HID lamps require a totally different reflector. I also hate when people use non-dot compliant headlights, I don't think it will be a problem on the tractor though. about half the bulbs in my tractor were out anyway, so if doing all of them, why...

End up plowing snow in the dark quite a bit here, drive is about 1500 feet long to the dirt road and there is very little light pollution in our valley that runs north and south. sun raises and sets maybe 45min early and late due to the mountains on either side of a narrow valley which makes...

so far I am loving this machine. i mean... you cant even mow with any of those, the clutch thing and the engine rebuild are red flags to me. how about you make do with this: pto, cat 0 3 point, solid machine well under your budget that will be worth 2k for a long time. and it will mow the grass without extra stuff...

i would not worry about turf vs ag tire at your budget. the trufs are nearly useless for anything but mowing. if you want a loader, save up, increase your budget and/or wait to find something with a loader.

Still looking for a tractor. What do you guys think of this JD 2350?

there is really nothing wrong with the david brown, they are well built machines and parts are not as hard to come by as you might think. lots of them sold all over the earth. i would be seriously considering weather you think 2wd will be adequate in Alaska though.
