None personally. But I know of 2 second hand, both police officers. On the other hand, I also don't know of anyone that has died of HIV either.

What causes this pine tree problem?

I have been told that pine beetles transfer from one tree to the next by contact. That happens when one infested tree contacts the next, usually by the wind blowing the limbs from one infested tree over against a healthy tree. I can see that happening here on my 12 acres of pine tree mix. My...

    Kubota Grease Points

I'm glad you firmly learned that you weren't going completely crazy. A zerk-less shaft is a very good idea as long as it stays free. Being underneath the tractor sure leads to an opportunity for dirt to gum every thing up, even with the zerks. Sorry you received all of the incorrect...

    Groan 3; the Sequel

An old, blind cowboy wanders into an all-girl biker bar by mistake... He finds his way to a bar stool and orders a shot of Jack Daniels. After sitting there for a while, he yells to the bartender, 'Hey, you wanna hear a blonde joke?' The bar immediately falls absolutely silent. In a very deep...

    Kubota Grease Points

I'd bet they're still there. Mine are hard to find without a flashlight. Once I did find them (there are 3) I put yellow zerk colored caps on them. That makes them much easier to find next time. AND - they are very easy to overlook when greasing you tractor, but they are very important to keep...

    Exploding tractor battery!

Sorry for the mishap. That of course, can and usually be very damaging to both yourself and your tractor. I also had a similar mishap with my 1969 Dodge some years ago. Turning over the motor by shorting out the starter solenoid under the hood, my 'Lifetime Guarantee" Die-Hard battery blew...

Good work shirt for warmer weather?

I started to order a couple of Red Kap shirts, based upon your recommendation. Then at the last minute I cancelled my order... they're having a 25% discount this coming Black Friday. Well worth waiting a few days. Thanks for the recommendation. I've ear-marked the site to give them a try -...

    Awaiting my Woodland Mills WC68

I think I can help you with that :-( Having zero experience with running a chipper, and no teacher, I learned the hard way - very quickly. I also learned that standing on the left side was the safe side. Face slappers tender to swing to the right side.

    Groan 3; the Sequel

This little old lady goes to the doctor and says, "Doctor I have this problem with passing gas, but it really doesn’t bother me too much. It never smells and it’s always silent. As a matter of fact I’ve passed gas at least 20 times since I’ve been here in your office. You didn’t know I was...

    Rant on shipping

It seems to be routine these days that "Item has Shipped" simply means that they received your order and maybe even printed a label. It sure doesn't mean that the item is on the way. That's obviously an easy way that they can bill you early and operate on your money - not theirs.

New (er) truck time, tell me what you think of this one.

Looks like a good buy from my uneducated eyes. Well cared for. I don't care for the bed liner, but that's a minor thing. And I was glad to see that they didn't wash down the engine compartment and spray it down with Armour All - that usually indicates some needed repairs that are being covered...

You'll end up with a fine ride that you'll never want to separate from. One thought passes my mind is...

Propane Tank, rent or buy 500gal

    Dogs.

I'm shocked at some of the prices some of you are paying shelters for a rescue dog. If you hit a dog in the road, would you stop

If it were my dog I'd want to know that it had died. If my dog were in the road and hit by a vehicle I would not blame the driver of the vehicle - not unless there were witnesses to verify that the driver intentionally tried to hit the dog. If it were truly accidental I would not expect the...

    Is Rural Living a Hobby?

Me too Piloon. Worked 50 years in the city and saved, saved, saved. Put up with the crowds, traffic, crime, and rude people as long as I had to, perhaps too long. Retired to the country. Nice shop, a little acreage, couple of ponds/lakes, lots of toys, distant neighbors, and little to worry...

Making riding mower more stable for hills

Wheel weights did help me some, but not enough to give me confidence to mow sideways. Nor did filling my tires. Duals and better traction tires would be my guess at being the most help. Meg-Mo swinging blades -- first impressions

Sorry Q/S-farmer and I don't mean to just sound critical, but from the 3rd picture in Post 6, it doesn't look to me like the Meg-Mo does a good job of cutting at all. It looks like the Meg-Mo just lays over the heavy grass rather than chopping it up like your rough mower. I don't envy your task...

    Hydrostatic Transmission Slipping ???

Got a new Duromax XP10000EH Generator, propane question

As you already know by now, the DuroMax runs correctly on a normal propane bottle. I've had mine for 3 years now, and love it. Although it's a dual fuel capable, I've never put a drop of gasoline in mine. Running on propane is so much better, just being able to run it, then shut it off and put...

Leather boot got soaked in diesel fuel. Will it be OK?

I suspect the diesel on your boots will be there pretty much forever. The odor will go away, faster if you left them out in the sun on a few warm days. The diesel isn't a bad thing though in my opinion. Helps with the waterproofing and probably keeps your boots limber. I spray mine down...
