    Do both ends have sprocket teeth? We had a barn cleaner conveyor one time that had sprocket teeth at both ends and would sometimes cause problems. Obviously you need sprocket teeth in the driven side, but the passive side was replaced with a smooth roller. Things functioned much better after...

    Foam insulation on the inside would be more quiet, would be softer to slam your head against, and a smooth exterior would shed water better than all those exposed frame members.

    Isn't your speed going to be the same as the vehicle the transaxle came out of times a ratio of drive sprocket diameter/original tire diameter?

    Isn't welding the internal spider gears the preferred option? Fewer parts spinning around.

    You suspected correctly! Did you then have to fab an adapter to connect the differential output to the brake discs? What kind of coupler will you use for your axle, and will that go through a bearing mounted to the tub? Finally, do you roam an auto salvage yard to find just what you need?

    I've seen vids of people who have cut most of the sidewalls off tractor tires and used them for tracks - driven by rubber tires. It looked pretty slick and easy.
