Instead of using concrete, I've had good results using grey thinset. It's a cement based mortar used for setting tile that sticks to everything extremely well. If allowed to cure for 30 days, it even works underwater in swimming pools.

Pins are out. It will only slide out farther with the pin out. You cannot turn it with the pin in.

I thought the same thing, but the more I turned it, and the more thread that I saw, the wider the arms got. So then I turned them the other way, and the less threads that I saw, the farther out it slid, and the closer the ends got to each other.

I just looked my 4707 and I found that when the threads are visible, it does not slide out very much. When the threads are not visible, there is a lot more movement. Try turning the turnbuckle all the way in the other direction so you cannot see any of the threads.

I just got my 4707 two days ago, and I'm planning on attaching my 6 foot cutter to it later today. I'll see what happens and comment when I've figured it out.
