    Top Brands

When I was looking, I went to a used dealer near me and looked at just about every brand there is. They sell a lot of tractors there and it's not uncommon to have 40 or 50, or more, tractors to look at. Kubota and Deere both seemed to hold up pretty well. Some other brands surprised me by...

    Concrete step

Instead of using concrete, I've had good results using grey thinset. It's a cement based mortar used for setting tile that sticks to everything extremely well. If allowed to cure for 30 days, it even works underwater in swimming pools.

face mask for mowing tired of the dust?

I have one of them. I'd have to check to know the exact model. I use it for spraying oil based paint on cabinets. It works OK, but it's not great. After an hour or two of spraying, I'll have paint inside the mask. There will be a line going to my nostrils from where the paint gets through...

Why would a mower melt 20 amp fuses?

Thank you for all the advice. I've been messing with this all weekend, and I guess I lost it. I cut out all the wires and I'm going to just wire up the basics. No more safety switches, no more hour meter, no more water temperature gauge, and not one extra wire then what I absolutely have to...

face mask for mowing tired of the dust?

What type of mower are you using? My zero turn used to be almost impossible to operate because of the dust it threw up into the air. Eventually I figured out there was an adjustable bar inside the front of my mower deck that cut down most of the dust when it was in its lowest position. Any...

Hope this helps. Especially for anybody willing to take the time to look at it and help me understand what's going on here. This is the link to my wiring diagram. If the link is messed up, its on Page 75 https://www.scag.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/STWC_2009_-Book03220Rev3w-Spanish.pdf...

My new Massey Fergusson 4707 is here!!!!

Thanks everyone. My 6 foot mower couldn't handle the power from the tractor. I started another thread about it, and most likely, my slip clutch wasn't working. I never adjusted it and that's probably why the drive shaft failed. The other reason could have been that the drive shaft wasn't...

    Barn metal roof: 26ga v. 29ga

I have 26 gauge on my house, but my shed and barn both have 26 gauge. The difference is significant, but I'm only willing to pay the extra for the thicker material for my house. When you walk on it, you'll know the difference really fast!!!

Why would a mower melt 20 amp fuses?

I replaced the PTO Clutch this morning and I cut off the holder for the fuse and installed a new one. The wire to the fuse became too hot to touch after a couple minutes of just starting it up. I never turned on the PTO, I just started it and held the wire to see if it would get hot. It got...

Goats and electric fence - finally giving up

I just looked it up and I don't recognize it, but I do have a variety of vines and ground cover type plants out in my woods that I don't know what they are, and maybe it's greenbrier? There is nothing like that inside the pasture with the goats, so the best I can say is that maybe they eat it.

Rotary Cutter Driveshaft failure. Your suggestions.

I was looking at their website and some YouTube videos and I'm wondering if there is any advantage to using two remotes? I've never had a batwing, so I'm just guessing, but I can't think of any reason that I'd want to lift the wings and not lift the wheels. I'm not taking it off of the land...

Rotary Cutter Driveshaft failure. Your suggestions.

I wasn't clear. The 12 foot mower is rated for cutting material up to 2 inches thick. Small trees and branches. On mowing height, around the house, I cut it as short as I can with my zero turn. Out in the pasture, and in the woods, I agree that 4 inches is ideal. My biggest issue is that...

    Portable work benches?

I have a pair of wooden saw horses that I like the best, and a set of plastic saw horses that fold flat, that are OK. I also have 4 different roller stands that are easy to adjust their height. 90% of the time, I work off of my tailgate. But sometimes I'll set up a tool on a sawhorse and use...

Made some big bales this weekend

On a YouTube video, the guy was saying that there are only two designs for hay bailers, the Krone and the Massey. Everyone else copies one of those two designs. He was using a Massy round bailer when he was saying this. Do you think he's correct?

I called my dealer that I just bought the tractor from and he had a Titan 12 foot batwing for $13,000 in stock. I'm debating if I should buy the bigger mower or keep fighting with the one I have. 19 year old light duty 6 foot cutter or a 12 foot cutter rated for 2 inches that will fit my 70 HP...

Rotary Cutter Driveshaft failure. Your suggestions.

I just looked on Amazon and they have two measurements. L is the total length, which is 64 inches and C to C, which is 54 inches. I'm hesitant to try and use the slip clutch again. I'm worried about it being strong enough for the bigger tractor. Or is that incorrect thinking on my part?

Rotary Cutter Driveshaft failure. Your suggestions.

I have never adjusted the slip clutch. I don't know how, but I guess it's time to figure it out. I'm thinking that I'll just buy a new one. The distance from the gear box to the PTO shaft is farther on the new tractor then my little tractor. I probably need a longer one this time. I...

So I just got a bigger tractor that has 70hp. The tractor that I've been using since 2003 was 37hp. My rotary cutter is a light duty 6ft Land Pride. I don't remember what hp it's rated for. I was cutting with it today for several hours and it was working great. Then all of a sudden, it...

I finally got my 6 foot mower attached to the 4707. The tractor is Category 2 and my cutter was used on my 37 HP Category 1 tractor since 2003. I never thought to ask any questions about this, I just assumed it would be a simple thing to go from one tractor to another. Finding bushings...

Why would a mower melt 20 amp fuses?

Thanks. I replaced the PTO Clutch a few years ago. How long should they last? I forget why I replaced it or what it was doing. I've also replaced the switch for it 4 times so far. Scag makes a very strong, heavy duty mower with the very worse electrical system I've ever dealt with...

Why would a mower melt 20 amp fuses?

PTO Clutch is probably the correct term. I thought it was a generator because it also charges the batter. Or does it? I'll have to do a search on YouTube to learn how to check the ohms of resistance on the clutch. That will give me some good keywords to use in my search. I'll look at the...

Why would a mower melt 20 amp fuses?

I have a Scag Wildcat zero turn with a Kawasaki liquid cooled 26hp engine. All of the wiring diagrams for it leave the engine out. I can't even find anything that says what start is has. One of the odd things is that since this started happening, the water temperature gauge isn't working...

    4707 3 Point adjustment issues

I don't think so. in the picture, the part that connects to the lift arm is bent. This bend limits how far the arm will go together once the threads are screwed all the way in. I'm heading to the store now to get some new new Category 1 lift arm pins. The current ones on my rotary cutter...

    4707 3 Point adjustment issues

I understand that it doesnt make sense. I havent figured it out in a way that makes sense. I'm 100 persent positive that with the threads in, there is more travel in the arms to go closer together. I just cant explain why.

    4707 3 Point adjustment issues

I thought the same thing, but the more I turned it, and the more thread that I saw, the wider the arms got. So then I turned them the other way, and the less threads that I saw, the farther out it slid, and the closer the ends got to each other.

Goats and electric fence - finally giving up

What is hog wire? If it's a field fence, you have to make sure that the openings are 4x4 or less. If it's any bigger, a goat with horns will put its head through it and get stuck. I'm installing 2x4 horse fence around my place and eventually removing my electric fence.

    4707 3 Point adjustment issues

I just looked my 4707 and I found that when the threads are visible, it does not slide out very much. When the threads are not visible, there is a lot more movement. Try turning the turnbuckle all the way in the other direction so you cannot see any of the threads.
