    Advice for 1980 Kubota L345

True but if I get killed I don't have to fret about having damaged the tractor whereas if I survive... I'm honestly not sure what point I'm trying to make. Never mind.

    Advice for 1980 Kubota L345

Thanks for the great advice Dick. I changed the water pump (which was seized and leaking) and I also changed the tach linkage (but it didn't solve the crazy needle behavior) and changed the shutoff linkage... I was not aware of decompression as a method of shutting off an engine. Pretty old...

    Advice for 1980 Kubota L345

Thanks for your reply. I'm super happy with the purchase! I'll be using the Kubota to run the post hole auger, the brush chipper, the brush hog, and a box blade. I think there might be a flail mower in my future but I want to run the brush hog first to see if it'll do the trick. It's...

    Advice for 1980 Kubota L345

Hello Kubotans. I recently bought this tractor at auction and will receive delivery of it this weekend. I wanted to ask the community for any advice they have for me. I bought a brand new Branson 3520H in 2016 but this is my first used tractor. Also the Branson is a hydrostatic and this Kubota...

Thanks Slim. I just arranged for the shipping which is gonna be another $800 so total cost is about $3800. I can't wait to have an equipment trailer some day. Probably sooner would be better the way things are going. Totally agreed. Digging out stumps and roots is really hard on the backhoe...

Those WoodMaxx are top of the line. I was gonna buy one... they're built in Akron, near my hometown of Buffalo, NY. I ended up getting an Echo Bearcat CH9540H at auction. I haven't run it yet because I still have the backhoe on the 3520H. However last night I bought a second tractor at auction...

Too late! I'd not heard that about the smoke nor did it occur to me that might be the case. The hedge has really taken off just in the last week and adds so much to the landscape that I'm good with the possible tradeoff. Eric, I drove up to Mount Umunhum this spring and saw tons of this...

On the subject of grapples, I'm pretty sure they're not better for brush piles than my pallet forks. The pallet forks do really well with logs too and they weigh less than the grapples so there's more lifting capacity. I've never felt like I needed a grapple. I wish I had a buddy who had one...

What have you done to your Branson today?

We had a decent winter for rain. Historically we get about 30" per year and this year we got just under 25" including about 6" in March and April. That included a nice rainfall about two weeks ago. Also the weather has been very cool so it's been good burning conditions. Believe it or not, I...

    Battery powered chainsaw

I was an arborist for 10 years and have many thousands of hours operating a chain saw. The most important thing to keep in mind is that the battery and gas saws have very different power characteristics. Almost without exception the battery saws will have more torque and less HP (speed). When...

Great stuff... thanks! Yes the spikes are cantankerous. After I drill the pilot hole I spray both the hole and the spike with WD40 lithium grease spray and it probably takes about 40 blows to set the nails completely... two hands on the single jack. Also the spikes cost 75 cents each. I'll...

What have you done to your Branson today?

This weekend was trying to finish the deer fencing meaning building H Braces. I used a hole saw to make a round flat mortise and the FEL to help hold the brace in place. String level, hole saw, chain saw, chisel, battery drill, long bit for the pilot hole and a single jack to drive the 12" x...

    Draining new style fuel filter

Eric, I'm going off my memory which isn't very good. I recall a filter element in the clear plastic bowl which I unscrewed (or unclipped) and emptied out. Besides the filter element that needed to be replaced, there was some water that had trapped in there which I emptied out. I might not be...
