What was the best dog you've had?

Cassie was our 1st Keeshond. I used to tell her she was the best dog. We’ve had/have 4 more and they are great, but she was the best! Our current guy Cinder is pretty close though ... Frank

    Fueling tractor

I use a Terapump TFRA01 battery powered transfer pump to fill my CUT with diesel. I have a second one to fill the tank on our pontoon boat that never seems to be on the side closest to the dock! Very handy pumps for the last 3 years. Good luck. Frank

    Good morning!!!!

Good morning All. I have not posted anything this week. We’ve been busy with a project here at the year round place. Just a couple more weeks before we head north to open the camp for the year. The ice is already out on the lake, but we are waiting until after our 2nd Covid shot. Hope...

Good morning All. 39 here this morning when the dogs went out and still a bit wet. Headed to a cloudy and breezy 49. Wife and I got our 1st COVID shots yesterday. The Moderna vaccine. Our arms are a bit sore this morning, but that seems to be it for this one [emoji3516]. Today is one of my...

John Deere Z 225 mow quality

Is your 18 hp motor a 2 cylinder? You may have a bad ignition coil on one side that fails to fire that spark plug under load. The symptoms you describe are eerily similar to what I found on our JD zt a couple of seasons ago. Do a search on ignition coil failure on this forum and you tube for...

GM 2.7 I-4 Turbo gas engine.

I have a 2015 Silverado with the 5.3L V-8. I love that motor and would not consider a 4 cyl turbo that has the published specs- especially in year #1. YMMV [emoji23] Frank

    Solar for barn

We have a 4kW solar array on the roof that is grid tied. We also have propane backup generator. When the transfer switch kicks in to power the house from generator the output of the array goes directly to the ground. This is not designed as an off-grid solution, at all.

    Cool Nature Photos

My wife and I were out clearing off the deck Thursday afternoon when we heard this flock going over. This was group 1 of 3 and was the smallest. They were also the lowest so made a better picture. The last time we saw this many snow geese was the very snowy (for us) winter of 2009-10. Frank

Good morning All! We closed up our place in NY this week. Spent a lot of time there this year. No wifi there means that we chew through cell data pretty quickly. PTO Wood Chippers

The Wallenstein BXM32 chipper/shredder has a discharge chute that rotates at least 270 degrees. The deflector at the end of the e a chute allows you to aim the chips right into a trailer or wagon. Mine doesn’t have a trailer hitch, but it would be an easy modification. Frank

Woodland Mills WC68 on a Kioti CK2610 : is this a good fit for my tasks?

Hi Mangler. I have a jd2520 (19pto hp) running a Wallenstein BXM32 chipper/shredder. I like the shredder throat for grapevines and green branches under 1”. I do burn firewood so anything larger than about 2” or 3” gets set aside for burning. This spring my next door neighbor had a tree split...

    Potato Plow anyone??

I’ve used this setup a few years now for furrows to plant in and for digging. It works great [emoji106]. No excessive side to side sway as mentioned by one commenter. It was welded together for me by an Amish friend from a conventional potato plow share and some 2” receiver stock. Frank

Good Morning All. 37 at dawn today, 45 and cloudy with lots of wind! A very windy night last night lead to some very restless dogs and humans. We had no damage to the trees on the property except for small branches. The next door neighbor wasn't as lucky. Wifey and I got permission to cut...

How to make water bars in a driveway?

We made these from pressure treated 2x4’s and a 2x6 and 2” pipe nipples. Sunk 3 of them into my sister-in-law’s gravel driveway. They have controlled erosion really well. They can be kept clean of leaves and debris with a leaf blower.

    Snow pusher

I have been accused of overthinking my snow removal equipment for this location. My solution is a 6.5’ plow adapted the jd quick attach loader on my 2520 tractor. A strip of rubber horsestall mat (tsc) and hydraulics off the loader remotes for power angle completed the project. Your tractor...

    500 hour service JD2520

I traded for a used 2008 JD2520 in 2012 when it had about 300 hours on it. The dealer had recently changed hydraulic fluid and coolant. I’ve kept up with oil changes and lubricants. I am now coming up on the 500 hour service mark and was wondering what else I should be checking ... Frank
