That’s the million dollar question though. He puts the old oil back in and it works fine, like before the oil change. So the question is…what oil did he use which caused the issue? He may never admit…😉

Like I asked above. Did he install hydraulic fluid….or Tractor Transmission/Hydraulic fluid? They’re NOT the same. Also why I asked GeneV what he installed in his. He installed the correct oil, not so sure about the OP.

After all this you’re asking us what fluid to use? You need to check with your MF dealer or your Owners Manual for the correct specs. Once you know that you can shop around if you want to. Never a problem when I order Amsoil. They warn about delays etc., some greases in short supply, but my lube orders keep getting delivered. 😉

So if the loader is off the tractor (I do the same in the summer) is the loader lever in the neutral position? I’m still thinking that there’s a lever that’s in the on position somewheres, that shouldn’t be…🤷

Psst. Is it possible that the lever to the rear remotes has been switched on, and if no hydraulic implements are hooked up, the hydraulics are now dead-heading or flowing through a relief valve?

Probably a by-pass if the noise goes away upon using the hydraulics. Does the tractor have rear remotes? Is it possible that you've switched the lever "on" to the remotes, and with no implements hooked into the lines you are now deadheading the hydraulics? Not good to run like that, if that's...

The first rule is read your Owner’s Manual. Then Go to your local dealer and buy the proper oil and filter, use what they suggest at least for the first time. That way you can relax with the knowledge that you’ve used the correct oil etc. You should also consider changing the transmission oil...

Welcome. Clean the key switch, check relays and do you hear the regular solenoid clicking sounds or not? How many hours, how old is the battery? BTW, Battery needs to read above 12.5 volts to be any good …

I think they would, but I’m not certain. What if you have someone sitting in the seat when you jump the starter? Also it’s possible that a relay is malfunctioning so check those. How many hours on the tractor? Is it stored out of the elements? Keep us posted

Diesel engines have their own unique characteristics, way more than stupid gas engines. 😬 Maybe even Sorta like Harley engines? Once you figure out how that particular diesel starts/runs they’re awesome…but that’s the challenge.

You guys are missing the point. It’s the “always” and the “all the time”. Not just if it’s a slope, or muddy, or snow, or ice, or…. There’s a reason the tractor comes with an in or out switch/lever 😉

Not a good idea. If the tires are ALWAYS on a slippery surface, sure. But if not, you’re putting extra strain on all the mechanical contact areas. For the few seconds it takes to switch into 4 by… But it’s your tractor not mine. 😉

Take an extra 3 seconds and cut the engine speed right down to low idle… That’s the trick for my tractor.

You do realize that there’s 4qts in a gallon? And yep, it might need a little bit of driving to settle the oil. However, you only need to add .19 of a gallon, or 2/3s of a quart if you got the old oil completely out. Probably there’s some residual…😉

Have you checked the oil level? Make sure that it’s not high!! In case of diesel fuel in oil. How did you shut it down after it started?

Update-Second time around with Keyed Ignition Switch issue on my CK30. See post #32 for my solution to a similar issue.

Yep, try the 3by the fuel tank. However mark them 1, 2, 3 before you rearrange them so you can determine which one might be the culprit…Keep us posted.

If that’s true….the tread will be backwards. The tires are directional for forward pulling/pushing.
