    Hoarding

When my bro in law died we had to clean out his apartment. I've never dealt with a real hoarder before. Holy crap it was nasty. Took about 3 days to be able to see the carpet. Filled many dumpsters and a few dump runs. Ended up hiring a company to remove the furniture. No one knew he had a...

I'm sure there is a law somewhere but had to drag it home only about 15 miles and buddies house is only 5 miles away. We also see maybe 1 sheriff a month around here As long as the equipment is secured, I'm not gonna sweat the small crap

Have any strange delivery experiences being rural?

Fed ex does that with my meds. I tell them to leave at basement door. It's covered and shaded. Nope...only thing they leave at the front door is a styrofoam container that needs to stay cooled that costs around $21K in the sun

    Land conservancy decisions

Win/win for us. Knocked almost 5 grand off property taxes and we hired a Forester that specialized in deer habitat for the logging. Been great, financially and wildlife

    Land conservancy decisions

I don't know. We have 100 acres here in Ottawa county in SW MI. I'd love lower taxes I just don't know much about the issue. I'm happy we got the school millage knocked off the taxes by having it logged.

Have any strange delivery experiences being rural?

I know our fed ex drivers here can't read. Even with addresses on mailboxes and houses, everyone gets each other's stuff. Wife came home one time and found a nice 2 up kayak by the door. She was excited that I got it for her....nope guy 3 houses down. She called me once asking why I bought...

    Losing weight.

I never had this problem since I've been 170 for over 30 years but I have watched my wife struggle with it. It sucks and if your doing good on weight loss, my hats off. She lost over 80lbs and keeping it off. She's disabled but still forces herself to walk 4-6 miles a day, firewood and other...

    Bear Trouble

Could be a couple of reasons. His dog was out. People like their pups. I've found out brown/grizz are easier to chase off than blacks. Show of force? Grizz usually don't want to deal with humans unless food or cubs are involved. Walking up quiet and startling them isn't the smartest. Browns...

    Bear Trouble

Shot a blackie once. 206 yards with rem 7600 in 35 Whelan with 225gr grand slams. It must have heard or smelled me but it stood up and and was facing me. I punched him in the chest and it ran off. A few minutes later I heard the death moan (still freaks me out). Ran about 70 yards. Took 5...

    Bear Trouble

Folks have different ideas on shot placement of bears. Some say vitals, some say to disable the bear then the kill shot. I'm in the disable group. Obviously a good CNS shot to drop it is optimal but doesn't usually go that way. Now if it's quartering towards or away where I can get a shoulder...

    Bear Trouble

My wife was a taxidermist for about 14 years in AK. She specialized in bears. She had quite a few empty coffee containers where she would put slugs, buck shot and bullets that were lodged in the hide and fat (hunters, for the most part do not know how to properly skin and flesh a bear) Shot a...

Society and predators don't mix well. In Anchorage, there is a subdivision that is mainly upper middle class +. They complain about bears yet they don't want hunting. I would get in arguments/ discussion's all the time with residents there. The place was called bear valley for a reason

4 cubs...wow. don't see that everyday. It's all about education and gov control. If folks who live in bear country are educated and then gov lifts the dlp requirements, I bet you will see less bears killed. In 18 years I only shot 1 dlp bear (defense of life and property). Otherwise I used the...

    Bear Trouble

Guns and spray can be iffy. With a gun you gotta practice. Spray..well.... After my first double bluff charge, I told myself #1 thing is to stop the charge. Killing is the first choice but if I can turn it, it gives me time. I hardly ever carried a pistol in the bush. Mid 90's I carried a...

Blackies are the worst. If they are iñ distance, shoot them. Their is a reason for the old saying " if it's brown, lay down. If it's black fight back" Everyone thinks the brown bear is predatory, they can be but black bears I never put up with. Only thing worse than a black bear is a stirred...

    6x12 Tandem vs 6x14 Tandem?

    6x12 Tandem vs 6x14 Tandem?

We have a 6x14 tandem with a spring loaded ramp. 90% of the time it works great very rarely do I trailer the tractor with an implement. Hauls the mini just fine. Bought a couple of surplus generators

I'd like one and mount a welder on it for at the property. As for wet stacking, your not joking. Once a month we had to put our ground power units on the load bank and run them at full capacity. Airport job. Those duetz engines would smoke out the area until they finally cleared their...
