    Rotory screw log splitter

Like the idea. Just getting big rounds to manageable size helps. Like to see how that works with a small tractor backhoe. Not sure I would have the ram strength on the curl function?

    Rotory screw log splitter

Have seen the screw type splitter used with post hole auger. Some have adapted hydraulic ssqa auger to their backhoe. They have a cage to keep the wood from spinning. Not sure of your hydraulic capacity but could be slow for splitting. Have used the grapple and backhoe with thumb on the...

Sell tires before they’re worn out, or not?

I replaced six, 13 year old, 35K, Michelin LT tires on the airstream with the same this year. Was getting poor service from from trailer tires. Started cracking between treads but no cracks side to side. Used tires sold one day for $30ea. Guy shoved them in the trunk and backseat of new Lexus...

Anyone use a CTL with a box blade?

Maintaining with a landplane has eliminated potholes on my driveway. Didn’t use rippers. Makes a durable, long lasting roadbed with 45”+ rainfall per year. Most of driveway canted on one side or the other instead of crowned. Do use 3pt hitch to tilt the LP to maintain the side slope. Some places...

Getting clay mud off tires easily

Advantage of having a long gravel driveway on a hillside cleans most of the mud off. Can drive in pasture to sling mud off the tires. Grass and stubble help scrub. Also drive in shallow creek with solid rock bottom. Dry falls off in tractor shed concrete floor and use aluminum scoop to shove out...

    KIOTI NX 4510 HST CAB

Congratulations on your new tractor! Both my hst tractors take a little time to be able to shift ranges. One the previous owner used muscle instead of time and messed up the position vs indicator timing. Little adjustment and bending the lever back but it back to proper spec. Shifting ranges...

L35 - no hydraulic power to backhoe

The M59 backhoe is unique is that it has two supply pump lines and one common return. Can connect the main supply to return when removed. Dedicated swing supply is a small line and disconnect size. Wonder if design is why sometimes some owners lose swing temporarily in one direction?

L35 - no hydraulic power to backhoe

Glad you resolved your problem. Wish I could better understand what caused the problem. Attachments like grapples can build up pressure stored off the machine. Reliving the pressure to reconnect may only involve a teaspoon of hydraulic fluid to be released. Larger, more complex equipment like...

    Tractor control modifications

B20 parking brake was an insult to engineering and hardly ever used. FEL bucket was the parking brake for 25 years. Upgraded to the B26. Caught wife and myself operating with the brake on. I tended to set the brake more firmly and more noticeably but it’s a powerful little tractor. Needed...

L35 - no hydraulic power to backhoe

Hydraulic cylinders sitting without relieving pressure can relax and possibility pull air in thru multiple seal points. Water too. Both cause all kinds of symptoms and problems. Had a dipper hose bust on a full size backhoe. After replacing took awhile to work the air out.

L35 - no hydraulic power to backhoe

If you had significant back pressure you couldn’t have connected the quick disconnects. On the M59, still have intermittent loss of either the left swing or down boom. No pump strain and can hear fluid moving. Recent as a few weeks ago. I spend 80-90% in 3pt mode with no problems. Exercising...

Just bought a Kubota BX2230 and have some question

Welcome to TBN. Tractors are problem solvers just like you. Learning new skills, from mistakes and successes part of the journey. I’m still on that path of learning and trying to find what works best on a ever changing target.

Thoughts On Lining Up Bucket to Front End Loader

B26 ssqa bucket and backhoe qa buckets have flares or wings to help guide. Small tractor has a good site line anyway. They all should be made that way. Bigger tractors I can’t see and often store FEL implements just inside the drip line of a barn or shed with uneven ground compounding the...

Front-End Loader Best SSQA trailer mover attachment?

It would seem easy to add the lugs for a snowplow. Add a 3rd function cylinder for chain lift and float. Have a 1965 dodge W300 with plow bought by originally by the Knoxville Post Office. Beast of a blade, hydraulic lift, manual angle. Moved more gravel than snow for our use. Don’t get the...

    Ordering Compact Tractor; What Options

We bought our B26 fully loaded, used 50hrs, 2016 model in 2016 from a rental company auction for considerably less than your budget. Replaced a B20 after 26 years. Has been a stellar performer. Not only can outperform similar ag tractors in many operations but is also considerably safer. Safety...

    Measuring a b21 for a 3 point hitch.

B26 Pin sway bars and gear leveling box I got from weaver’s tractor supply. They have a variety of after market arms, side links and sway controls. Pat’s quick hitches lengthen the lift arms which I like. Makes swapping attachments and connecting pto much easier. Kubota TLBs have little T-Rex...

    log grapple design/dynamics? 3 pt

Nice work. The smart grapple used a lot to T1 steel. Twice the strength of regular steel and abrasion resistant so considerably weight savings. Stress-proof king pin at slight angle would self center when raised. A disk holding the grapple controlled the rotation. 3/4-1 ton free floating axle...

Front-End Loader Best SSQA trailer mover attachment?

Polesaw mounting is as important to me as trailer moving. Use the same reinforced 2” receiver hitches. Current hitches welded to bucket or grapple. Wanted lower weight and less interference cutting in wooded, hilly roads and perimeters. New receiver hitch plate gives several mounting options...

Ditching blade on Kub L45 backhoe

Have a friend who thought he discovered a novel way of yarding firewood logs by chaining to the B26 backhoe bucket and would swing and crowd the boom as needed thru the woods. The weight for traction and articulation helped drag to wood. I warned him to no avail. Didn’t take long for the control...

Ditching blade on Kub L45 backhoe

Pretty clever. The video helps understand and the chain is necessary. Don’t want to put too much strain hydraulics and valves. Remember the hydraulic system control valves, lines and cylinders are not protected with relief pressure valves when external loads are exerted like that.

    log grapple design/dynamics? 3 pt

Smart Grapple out of Montana used to make 3pt and ssqa grapples. Bypass tongs would completely close. Could easily pull up small trees. Optional hydraulic winches. Very well made and very expensive. Bought a ssqa model going out of business sale. modified to 3pt hitch also. 3pt works best...

    Backhoe M59 backhoe quick attach

The excavator quick hitch comes with 3 pins. I didn’t tell them that mine had a thumb so thumb pin was short. No problem using my old pin but having a spare 14.06” pin wouldn’t hurt. Used a 1.5” split shaft collar to secure it instead of a roll pin. Also needed two 1.5” washers for spacers...

A cautionary tale about fiber board bench tops.

    Stump Buckets

A piranha or wicked bar might be a better choice. Combining lift with force driving forward puts more pull on small trees. Cut roots on bigger stuff. Danuser Intimdator. Never underestimate what a 26 hp tractor can do. Grab low and drive forward to pull up trees works best. Excavator teeth...

A cautionary tale about fiber board bench tops.

Thanks for relaying your story. Might save someone. Bought a used steel roll around industrial cabinet that had a fiber top. Eventually added a 1/2x 30x60” plate and additional supports for a welding bench. 20 - 5/8” threaded holes for clamps or tooling plugged with set screws.

Oil & Fuel M6950 Ezy Checker Warning light

The M5030DT had a similar warning lamp on the hydraulic filter. Explained in the owners manual better than the shop manual if I remember right. Never had it come on while running. It had a stem magnet that extended into the center of the filter to collect fines. Cleaned when changing filter.

    Logging winch build

Glad you are putting on a back lash screen for protection if the cable breaks. Logging is high hazard so anything you can do mitigate the better. Backhoe M59 backhoe stabilizer pads

Yours is similar to what my 4500 Ford had. It had longer reach out and down than the M59. Good stability but left divots. Kubota uses the same rubber pads for all three of the TLBs. B26 has the rubber pads and saw how they improved the grip. Couple of inches height helps too.

Gathering materials to improve the pads. 2.5X more area. 4X heavier, 82#. 5.5” longer to the outside. 6” taller on rubber pads. Hopefully kinder on hard surfaces and lawn. OEM rubber pads engages 1.5” before steel cheats on soft or steep ground. In paint shop. Paint cost and much as the...

    Tire track graveling plate

With a dump truck or trailer the delivery of crushed stone is gauged by the check chains on the tailgate opening and speed. I used an 5-6” angle iron on the tailgate to block with about 3” opening. Before that used about a 3’ piece of 6x6” timber centered by the tailgate before loading stone...

    Tire track graveling plate

Early Bobcat had a GP bucket that had a hydraulic chute that would allow you load a bucket normally from a pile then swing down to funnel the contents as needed. Always thought It would be handy way to load a concrete mixer. A version of that could have a lid for one or two tracks. Once...
