    The chart is helpful, thanks!

    New tractor Grease Question

You’re looking at the wrong polyurea. Look one line lower. Shear stable (Kubota and John Deere are) actually is comparable with more different grease than anything else. Another reason I use them.

    New tractor Grease Question

I use polyurea on everything: mower, loader, backhoe, etc. I’ve got other brands, too, but my go-to is the John Deere, since I have a JD dealer local. This stuff used to be around $4 a tube. The last case (ten tubes) I bought was $55, after tax. Now, I see it’s even higher.

    Transportation Chain and Binders

Very few US companies make the hooks. Laclede is a US chain manufacturer. I contacted them to get some more hooks (bought longer chain and cut it) and the reply was that all of their hooks are imported. The chain links are made in US. Columbus McKinnon is one of the very few US manufacturers of...

    Hooks on FEL Bucket

I had a friend weld two on my BX bucket. They are in line with the lift arms, since the bucket is so thin. You can see how we dealt with the lip. They have been great and useful.

    Cleaning Up Substantial Yard Debris

Get the big stuff out. When the weather is right, burn the pasture. This will remove the small combustible stuff, by fire, and will expose all the other crap. Then, choose the best tool, for what you see. Good on you, for cleaning it up.

    No Rotella T6

Incorrect. When there has been any option on the shelf, it’s usually a Shell product. At least, in my area. No Delo, at all. Very seldom seeing Mobil diesel. She’ll is hit or miss, but I’ve seen it more than the others.

    No Rotella T6

Most common oils and filters are hit or miss, around here. I ended up ordering three Motorcraft 820S filters, because I haven’t seen one on the shelf in a few months. 5w-30 Mobil1 is hit or miss and over $5 higher, for a jug, when they do have it. I‘ve been looking for diesel oil, for a couple...

    Dump trailer prices

As far as trailer costs, the ones I’ve been watching have come down, from their peak. Still high, but going the right direction. In 2018, I paid $8,500, for my well-optioned Diamond C 24 LPD. I ordered it and waited a little over two months to get it. Tokay, the same trailer has an MSRP of...

    Pump upgrade for dump trailer

Let us know how big the difference is, at load capacity, when you get a chance. This is uncharted territory, from what I’ve seen.

New (er) truck time, tell me what you think of this one.

The first truck looked very solid. The second looks to have a lot more options, but they are the functional kind. The second truck has the 6.2L upgrade. More torque at a lower RPM. That’s a big win. That change came in MY 2017, so it isn’t a ”first year”, even though the change was minor. I...

Buying Advice Is it possible to go too big?

My advice is to hire things done, for a bit. See what equipment they bring, how they use it, and what they like it don’t like about it. Maintaining a previously worked or prepped area is significantly easier than working virgin or grossly overgrown places.

Mine, too. I’ve used it like a pickup one time….
  20. N

    Load divider dolly,

For a long time, this was true. Some of the HD pickups have started coming with the same ratings, regardless of WDH use. I believe it was around 2018 or 2019 that started, coming from the factory.
  21. N

    Load divider dolly,

Cool concept, for sure. I’m wondering how that will be viewed, from an enforcement standpoint. If it’s considered a towed unit, it may require “doubles/triples endorsement”, for commercial drivers or vehicles. Since it has safety chains, that makes an argument for it being a towed unit versus it...

    Dump Trailer Questions

Good post, but when I was reading the Missouri driver’s license requirements, they do require a “commercial“ license for anyone driving for hire, it’s their Class E. There are exceptions; such as a taxi drivers with vehicles less than 12k GVW and/or delivery of prepared food. Just another...

    Dump Trailer Questions

Well, I posted the link to the relevant State provided information. I’m daft to think that would be helpful. You got my vote. I believe California is the only one who really took the “commercial” part and screwed with everyone. If driving was about safety, motorcycles wouldn’t be allowed...

Except, it’s not relevant to the OP. The OP isn’t commercial and his State doesn’t require it, for his stated uses.

    Dump Trailer Questions

Good point. If you get a low profile trailer, you’ll have to pull forward more, to get the load out. Some trailers have the bottom of the rear of the box just above the ground. This can cause some issues. I’ve heard of some that even hit the ground, but haven’t seen that. I just bottomed mine...

Yes. The battery is what powers the brakes, when the break-a-way is used. When the trailer is plugged into the truck, the truck powers them. Some people have used their break-a-way as a parking brake, then wondered why their battery was dead. Hard to go wrong, with a 14’/14k. If you were...

    Dump Trailer Questions

I was never an authority, in Missouri, but I did just go check the Missouri resources. From what I’ve read, you only need a Class F, as long as you’re only using it, for personal use. If you decide to go “for hire” you need a Class E (not a CDL until OVER 26,000 AND the trailer is 10,001, or...

    Dump Trailer Questions

I’m the only owner/operator dump trailer guy, in my area with a DOT number. The rest run “farm plates” and do not have insurance that will cover their mishaps, on a commercial job site. Operating authority isn’t required, here, for raw dirt or rock products. Even when it is required, almost no...

From what I’ve seen, it’s very regional. The only dump trucks that even get close to hauling 22 tons (legally) are all in the big cities. In my area, if you want 22 tons, in one load, it‘s either coming from a semi trailer or a guy with no insurance running very overweight. The nearest quarry...

    Dump Trailer Questions

These guys gave good advice, overall. I don’t agree with the math you’re using, but it’s an easy to understand example (not saying you presented it as how it works). In my experience, the 10% of battery, per use, is probably close. So is the 50% battery not being enough. The 12v, from the...

    Trailer Tire Rotation?

The biggest benefit to rotating trailer tires is having the tire off to check everything else out. I have thought about rotating my trailer tires, on my dump trailer, but it’s more because the back axle has several plug/patches in each of them. The rears get beat twice as hard with all the...

My trailer is definitely heavy duty. Empty, it’s around 5,000 pounds. The box I have is the same one they use in their 24lk trailers (different axles, lifting mechanism, and couplers). If you need it done, anything is possible. All it takes is some know-how and money. If you do fab something...
