Does anyone have the Nikki "ramshorn" carb setup?

I have a JD LA175 and the throttle lever does nothing to actuate the throttle butterflies inside the carb, and my engine is racing way above normal RPMs (worried I'm going to blow my 26hp Briggs & Stratton engine). While taking off the Nikki carb, I believe I must've screwed something up, lost...

Governor spring(s) on LA175 with Briggs & Stratton 26 HP twin

My LA175 has been phenomenal, but was recently surging. I bought a new carb and after installing, it runs smooth as can be! But, the RPMs are a good bit higher than previously. I believe I've found the issue to be a missing spring on the governor linkage with the throttle. When I look on a...

Husqvarna LGT 24K54 - mower deck belt jumping off. AGAIN

Hi all, I may be resurrecting's an older post (below) when I had issues with the mower deck belt jumping off. Just like in that post, I think i've checked everything, from drive pulley under the motor, to the deck itself, all spindles are on the same plan, none are bent or lose. As noted in...

What does "oil - low pressure" light mean when it just barely starts coming on?

I'm out there brush-hogging and noticing, after 10-15 mins that the oil - low pressure light on my odometer is flickering/glowing coming on when really under load and then goes off when rpms climb back up. I checked oil level before use and it was good. Any thoughts? Normal?? Thank you, Jay

1983 Ford 1700 ...just won't get rpms up

Seemingly overnight, my awesome 1700: Had a harder time than normal starting Actually seemed to 'catch' and run okay, but, just wouldn't get it's idle or rpms up It surged for a minute or two and then ultimately ran ...okay. I've got the brush hog on but not slogging through anything crazy or...

    Surging on an LA175

Hi all. I work on a lot of small engine equipment, and am often stumped by "surging". Often times, carburetors need a good cleaning, or swapping, and that resolves the issue. But on my LA 175, with 250 hours, I recently removed carb and cleaned it ...pretty thoroughly. (Not saying I'm the...

Tuff Torq K46 - rebuild or just drain/refill oil?

As many of us know, these Tuff Torq transmissions lose power over time. On my Husqvarna LGT 24K54, it lost virtually all power to climb the slightest of inclines after only 10-15 mins of use. I spent the $400+ and bought the rebuild kit from TT and ...rebuilt it, added new fluid and...

Trying to replace Ford E1NN6714BB OIL FILTER - on my 1983 Ford 1700

Continuing my big "tune up" maintenance, and today is oil change day, but not finding this oil filter noted above. A regional tractor parts shop says there's a New Holland number (but they didn't want to give out the number and for $38 (shipped) I thought I'd see if anyone here knows where I...

Changing hydraulic lines on '83 Ford 1700

Hi all, I'm about to replace many of the hydro hoses on my Ford 1700 and, especially on the shorter ones, am noticing that when I try to loosen the securing threads ...the hose resists mightily; getting all coiled and kinked. This may not be that big a deal when taking off the old, as they're...

Husqvarna LGT 24K54 - seat change, wont run when I disengage brake

I bought a nicer, taller seat with armrests for my Husqvarna riding mower. When I sit down, starts right up, but, as soon as I release the brake, it turns off. I assume the mower doesn't realize I'm sitting on it, so it cuts off. It's a 4 wire connection, both from my old seat and on the new...

Starter spins, pinion gear jumps up to flywheel, but, wont turn engine over. Battery well charged...??

Hi folks, My starter has been slowly losing it's ability to start my riding mower. Sometimes it would start the machine immediately, other times I'd hear it spinning with the pinion gear not "up" into flywheel, but, after backing off the key and trying again, it would start right up. This...

John Deere 285 - no starting, but, lots of clicking... and some other oddities

Working on this JD 285 and it won't start. Has new battery, fully charged - showing 12.5v. When I turn the key, I hear fast-paced 'clicking'. Doesn't sound like typical solenoid clicking, but, faster. Sounds like it's coming from up above the battery, behind the dashboard guages. Very...

JD Hydro 175 - no spark (new coil, still no spark)

Subject above pretty much tells the story. I've checked the ground strap next to engine block (cleaned it, tightened it on solidly). I cleaned the magnets on the fly wheel. Bought new coil (first time I ever encountered a new coil with not connector for the spark plug - but quickly figured...

    Control valve rebuild

I hope I am using the correct term above. I have an '83 Ford 1700 with 770 loader and the 2-lever control for raising/lowering bucket as well as rolling the back forward/back. In my manual it says this part # is DV23FATS005 or 23FATS2P4KA. The lever that controls the roll of the bucket has...

Engine rebuild (Tecumseh 5hp - "H50") with reverse sheave - proper placement of gear?

Engine rebuild (Tecumseh 5hp - "H50") with reverse sheave - proper placement of gear? I am trying to salvage an older Tecumseh H50 (Horizontal/5hp) engine after the piston's connecting rod let go and things got ...messy inside. This engine has 2 sheaves/pulleys, 1 that comes off the crank and...

Mower deck belt jumping off again

Hi folks, I have a 2011 Husqvarna LGT 24K54 rider and love it ...when it's not giving me fits. And I realize that machines don't give fits, owners who aren't clever enough to keep em' running proper are the issue :-). I had a lengthy post at the end of last season where the mower deck belt...

Wiring diagram for a Toro 8-32 Professional riding mower

Hi, I'm working on an 'older' Toro (not exactly sure how old - looks like the one Forest Gump mowed with :-)) 8-32 "Professional" and can't get the machine to spark. Model # 56150 and serial number 9000001 - 9999999. At first, I thought it was simply the ignition coil (or magneto) so I got a...

Husqvarna YTH1542XP with Kawasaki engine - need help getting carb

Hi All, Working on this Husqvarna lawn tractor that will run on starting fluid, has fuel coming To the carb, but, won't run on it's own. Feeling like a new carb (or cleaned/rebuilt one) will solve the issue. But can't for the life of me find the carb on line. Engine number: YKAX4942CA...

Ride on mower bogs down, stalls, when mowing blades engaged

I have a 2001 Husqvarna LGT24K54 ride on mower that has been great since I bought it. I am on top of maintenance, etc, and think it's kept "up to spec". I pulled the mower deck out of winter storage in my shed and greased the 3 spindles and then rotated the drive belt by hand. I did not...

    eBrake won't disengage on 1983 1700

Weird situation today that when after thinking I 'removed' the ebrake ...the brakes remain engaged. Wondering if I pressed the pedal too hard (I was on a decent decline and wanted to make sure I engaged the brake good & hard, plus I'm about 240lbs). I'm pretty sure I set the ebrake properly...

Oil type for '83 Ford 1700

Hi All, I'm a little confused as to what type of oil to put in my machine. Reading owners manual shows 10w30, 10w40 for year round use OR 10W for severe cold below 32, 20W for winter use between 32 to 50F and 30W for summer above 50. Then an internet search came back with a bunch of C-rated...

Snow Equipment Owning/Operating Greasing (or not) snow chute rotating base?

I have on older Husqvarna 10/30 snowblower with 鍍hreaded screw adjustable base to rotate the direction of the snow chute. I知 pretty sure when I bought the machine, (used), 6 or 7 years ago that it had grease in and around the moving or contacting surfaces where it rotated. I noticed a few times...

Husqvarna LGT 24K54 - Choke lever spring (need new one - can't find engine schematic)

I have an '11 Husqvarna LGT 24K54 with (obviously) the Kawasaki 2 cylinder 24 horse engine. I noticed the spring that returns the Choke lever to an Open position has gone missing. I've mickey-moused a replacement in there for the time being, but, would like to order an OEM replacement, but...

Husqvarna LGT 24K54 loses ability to go up hill

Hi all, After figuring out my issue with the new mower deck belting jumping off (because I can be an idiot at times) I'm now working to figure out why I have a hard time getting up hills after the machine is warmed up. If I try driving up the hill next to my house when the machine is freshly...

Brand new mower deck belt keeps jumping off

Hi all. I have a Husqvarna LGT24K54 and love it. I've had it since brand new and it's 8 years old. Getting ready for this season's mowing/etc., I changed the oil/filter/plugs and decided new belts would be a fine thing to do. The mower Drive belt was working ...okay, but, only for about...

In the market for a new hydraulic control "lever" for my '83 Ford 1700

Hi all, My great ol' 1983 Ford 1700 is telling me I should be in the market for a new Hydro control "lever" setup. I have the "2 lever" control today (boom - up/down, bucket - roll up/down) and it's the 'bucket' control that basically ...won't turn off. I've setup a bungie cord at this point...

Is Sta-Lube Hypoid gear oil hydraulic fluid?

Please don't laugh... I'm actually a solid driveway mechanic, but, find myself at a loss right now with the jug of Sta-Lube Hypoid SAE 80W90 "Gear Oil". Is it hydraulic fluid? I have a Ford 1700 tractor with a nice Woods backhoe 7500 attachment and it's a little low on Hydraulic Fluid. I...

Husqy 357XP chainsaw leaking bar oil

Any idea what would cause my chainsaw to lead bar oil? Not a massive leak - maybe a table spoon over night. Just odd. Not sure what to check. Saw isn't all that old, maybe 7-8 years with 100 hours on it. Love this saw! Thanks, Jay

    1983 Ford 1700 - Clutch stopped working

Hi all, I searched and couldn't find any posts about this issue: My '83 Ford 1700 has been great since I inherited it about a year ago. GREAT machine. Occasionally, it would be a challenge to 'quietly' either get into a gear or shift from one to another. This past weekend, it stopped...

Do you need to use M2C-134A exactly or will anything else work - Ford 1700

Hi All, My hydraulic fluid is pretty low - is it typical to "lose" fluid over time, does it kindof cook away? (this 1983 Ford 1700 is new to me so I don't know it intimately yet). Anyhow, manual calls for M2C-134A and Tractor Supply doesn't have it. Can't find any on eBay... Thoughts...

    Weird hydraulic operation(s)

Everything on my tractor has been working fine - but today, after raising the bucket, I went to put it down (actuated the lever TO lower it), and it raised/went up. Why would it do that? Also noticed the other day that, while mowing and holding the bucket up in the air, it would...

1983 Ford 1700 - possible thermostat problem; gauge shows overheating...

Hi all, I recently inherited an '83 Ford 1700 and love it. What a great yard tractor. While doing light work the other day, I thought I noticed steam coming up from the front of the tractor. I immediately glanced at the analog gauge which showed the temp all the way to the right of "H". I...

Snowblower attachments on light garden tractors?

Hi All, I bought a brand new Husqvarna LGT 24K54 last spring and love it. Mowing about 2 acres and doing lots of landscaping (bought a great steel cart).
