Does anyone have the Nikki "ramshorn" carb setup?

I have a JD LA175 and the throttle lever does nothing to actuate the throttle butterflies inside the carb, and my engine is racing way above normal RPMs (worried I'm going to blow my 26hp Briggs & Stratton engine). While taking off the Nikki carb, I believe I must've screwed something up, lost...

I don't. Here's more pics - with it being dark out, maybe it will stand out better where the other spring goes?

Governor spring(s) on LA175 with Briggs & Stratton 26 HP twin

Found this listing on ebay that shows (I believe) my setup. I think it shows the governor & throttle linkage, and the 2 springs. I believe I have the larger spring...

Governor spring(s) on LA175 with Briggs & Stratton 26 HP twin

My LA175 has been phenomenal, but was recently surging. I bought a new carb and after installing, it runs smooth as can be! But, the RPMs are a good bit higher than previously. I believe I've found the issue to be a missing spring on the governor linkage with the throttle. When I look on a...

Sorry for my delay. Installed new oil pressure switch, have run it now 4 times without issue. Problem ostensibly solved. Thank you everyone.

What does "oil - low pressure" light mean when it just barely starts coming on?

I understood pretty much everything you said, JC, especially at the end where you said it's likely the sender. If that's the case, then the sender is just failing (if I understand correctly): The light comes on when I turn the key to 'ignition on' When the machine starts up, the light goes off...

What does "oil - low pressure" light mean when it just barely starts coming on?

I hadn't thought of that. Stupid me: Do a good search for "oil pressure gauge" that has an actual "read out", analog or digital, and wire it in place instead of the idiot light?

What does "oil - low pressure" light mean when it just barely starts coming on?

Hi JC. Coming back to this original post topic of the "oil pressure" light flickering under load. Just to confirm, (I'm 99% sure but need to confirm), the idiot light in my tach/mph is for when the oil pressure is too low, correct? I just changed my oil with Rotella & new filter and made sure...

Husqvarna LGT 24K54 - mower deck belt jumping off. AGAIN

Hi all, I may be resurrecting's an older post (below) when I had issues with the mower deck belt jumping off. Just like in that post, I think i've checked everything, from drive pulley under the motor, to the deck itself, all spindles are on the same plan, none are bent or lose. As noted in...

What does "oil - low pressure" light mean when it just barely starts coming on?

SHE RUNS!!! It was the bleeding!!! Found that I had a service manual in the folder and it talked about another bleed screw below the inject fuel lines. Bled that and she fired right up. THANK YOU ALL.

What does "oil - low pressure" light mean when it just barely starts coming on?

Machine has 2031 hours. It was owned by my neighbor who I believe took impeccable care of it. When I got it about 8 years ago. I think I did a good job of annual maintenance; oil changes, hydro fluid check/update. I also pay incredible attention to how it is running and would address any...

What does "oil - low pressure" light mean when it just barely starts coming on?

Its a 1983. And I know anything is possible, (with respect to an engine wearing out), but, ....man - this machine was running great up until the last month or so. Can't believe it would be caput now. But again, anything is possible

What does "oil - low pressure" light mean when it just barely starts coming on?

Thank you, JC. That may be where I'm at. I have fuel seeping out of air bleed screws by fuel filter (even without cranking engine) but with both fuel lines disconnected at injectors, no fuel is coming out. Weird that machine was starting effortlessly yesterday and running pretty well overall...

What does "oil - low pressure" light mean when it just barely starts coming on?

So I believe I'm catching on; (thanks guys!). In my pic here, am I correct that the entirety of the device shown is the INJECTOR and the red arrows are pointing to the "back plate" that, if removed, I'd see/expose the governor? Someone posted a video with a clear plastic plate in place of the...

What does "oil - low pressure" light mean when it just barely starts coming on?

I do not believe I have changed this oil, in the injector pump. But, I do think I may be onto the issue with my 1700: I checked the fuel filter, even though I just put a new one in about 15 hours ago, the plastic cup around it was cloudy and when I took it off, there was a fair amount of crap...

What does "oil - low pressure" light mean when it just barely starts coming on?

Thank you all. The oil and filter were changed about 35 hours ago. Relatively "new". Oil level is good. I'm thinking, in addition to the other post of I have where rpms are lower than normal after heat up and machine losing power after 10-15 minutes that I might have governor issue. I will...

What does "oil - low pressure" light mean when it just barely starts coming on?

I'm out there brush-hogging and noticing, after 10-15 mins that the oil - low pressure light on my odometer is flickering/glowing coming on when really under load and then goes off when rpms climb back up. I checked oil level before use and it was good. Any thoughts? Normal?? Thank you, Jay

1983 Ford 1700 ...just won't get rpms up

Thanks JC (as always). I bled the fuel lines and it seems to be running ...well(?). Still feels like the rpms aren't audibly as high as I recall, but, the tachometer says I'm running at the proper rate. I'll keep an eye on things, but, thanks again.

1983 Ford 1700 ...just won't get rpms up

Seemingly overnight, my awesome 1700: Had a harder time than normal starting Actually seemed to 'catch' and run okay, but, just wouldn't get it's idle or rpms up It surged for a minute or two and then ultimately ran ...okay. I've got the brush hog on but not slogging through anything crazy or...

    Surging on an LA175

Ah, good ol' Taryl. Very helpful videos - painful sideshow BS (IMHO). Maybe my buddy was onto something with replacing the fuel line, as the surging was going on pre-carb removal & clean and post. And I cleaned the mating surfaces and new gaskets before reinstall so don't think I've got leak...

    Surging on an LA175

Hi all. I work on a lot of small engine equipment, and am often stumped by "surging". Often times, carburetors need a good cleaning, or swapping, and that resolves the issue. But on my LA 175, with 250 hours, I recently removed carb and cleaned it ...pretty thoroughly. (Not saying I'm the...

Tuff Torq K46 - rebuild or just drain/refill oil?

Well, I think from everything I've learned, there's certainly no harm in draining and replacing the fluid. Obviously, you gotta remove the tranny from the machine and that's a little work. But, a fresh bath of new fluid should help it live a long healthy life. If I could impart one thing that...

Tuff Torq K46 - rebuild or just drain/refill oil?

GREAT UPDATE: IT'S WORKING ....VERY WELL!!! I don't know what the heck I did, other than remove the tranny, bring it back on the bench, checked the fluid level again (just where it was when I first topped it off after rebuild). I did spin/turn the splined shaft of the tranny again (that the...

Tuff Torq K46 - rebuild or just drain/refill oil?

Thanks. Someone else posted his complete rebuild earlier in this thread. I watched it the last time I rebuilt my TT tranny and did again for this one. Wish he didn't do the plastic teeth or hair, but, whatever. I knows what he's doing. Very helpful

Tuff Torq K46 - rebuild or just drain/refill oil?

Thanks. I did drain it. But based on all the metal filings on the magnets - I rebuilt it. But something went wrong when I put it back together; or I assume something went wrong. Because it sure isn't working. Whining... Trying to figure out what to do.

Tuff Torq K46 - rebuild or just drain/refill oil?

UPDATE: Dropped the transmission and checked oil level - spot on right where it was when I topped it on the bench. Is there any chance that a TINY bit too much fluid in the tranny could cause this problem? Instead of being 3/4" below the rim of the fill hole, it's 1/2"... I can't imagine...

Tuff Torq K46 - rebuild or just drain/refill oil?

Hi Jaxs. I just went back through and read all 6 pages of this thread and don't see anywhere where I said anything about a "mysterious c-clip that I found on the floor". Are you possibly referring to a different post or different person?

Tuff Torq K46 - rebuild or just drain/refill oil?

Okay, I think i follow. "Kick and cuss" as in the machine might have bucked (jumped violently forward or back)? Not sure what I'd email TT, other than my post a few entries ago with my update that "she don't work". Maybe I'll try that. I have a feeling it's going to be: remove transmission...

Tuff Torq K46 - rebuild or just drain/refill oil?

Hi Tomm. Not entirely sure what you mean, "kicking or cussing". The machine didn't move or even feel like it was attempting to move. Keys are in slots of axles with wheels - check!! No change when pulling/releasing bypass valve; (I assume this is the "free wheeling" lever at the very rear of...

Tuff Torq K46 - rebuild or just drain/refill oil?

UPDATE: She no work. I topped off oil level to about 3/4" below fill line with brand new TT fluid they sent me. I spun the splined shaft 50 times, and the axles, to try and circulate fluid while it was on the bench. Installed on machine and it whines noticeably, right from the get go. Will...

Tuff Torq K46 - rebuild or just drain/refill oil?

Thanks a ton, Jaxs on both my TT rebuild and the situation on my Husqy. Very curious how TT designed them the way they did - i.e. no checking or -refilling. Some very cool recommendations on the mowing operation of my Husqy. I do a ton of small engine repair work and had never heard of the...
