Not a good time to buy a car

Yep, high prices and high interest rates are forcing the dealers out of ”greed mode”. I just found a new/leftover trailer for a very reasonable price. You have to really scour the ads & dealers to find a great or even a good deal today.

looking to buy first tractor with loader and backhoe

Not if you check it out before buying it, right?? I’m not saying something like the lights, fan, etc might not be broken, but pretty much start it up and test it out a little before buying should do the trick on an old 2WD backhoe. Heck, I’ve had brand new equipment break in first few times...

Truck & Trailer ideas to tow 14,000 and be under 26,000 pounds

That’s more of a ditch cleaning machine. The wheeled excavators are just like a tracked excavator. I think the wheeled excavator is great for DOT’s because they can put a guy in it and drive it to and fro without a CDL.

Great videos. Thanks for sharing. Makes us all realize how hard haying could be and that we who have the luxury of modern equipment are lucky. I like the excavator being used as a bale grapple. Great “swiss army knife”.

Picked up a cheapie lawn mower/utility trailer

Upgraded my single axle lawn zero turn trailer to a 7k tandem last week. The single axle was limiting me to moving one machine at a time and we frequently need both. Money is slim with today’s economy, so I found a deal on a close out 7,000lb dual axle trailer. 20FT Retco- made in Missouri. 2)...

    Dump Truck recommendation

Keep in mind a 1-ton dump truck cannot tow a fully loaded trailer and have a load of gravel dirt will overload the truck. 1-ton dumps are ok for payload in bed or a loaded trailer, but not both unless it’s lightweight material. at under 10k, with today’s used truck prices, you are looking at...

Truck & Trailer ideas to tow 14,000 and be under 26,000 pounds

In Europe, high speed tractors are used as trucks. They pull dump trailers, flatbeds with lumber, and of course Ag products. Then they can be used to push snow, too. They are licensed there, but not here (yet). It’s a great loophole for someone wanting to pull a heavy trailer without a CDL We...

    Big tractors on the dyno

That’s really cool. I loved watching my Magnum 270 hit the dyno. It made 273HP at the PTO stub. My Massey made 159 I think. Dynoing equipment has to be done correctly. Engine must be warmed. Controls operated correctly or readings can vary. Give me Cummins or Sisu all day long. Can’t afford...

I realize thats a new tractor, but you can get a nice used 15HP farm tractor with a loader and maybe 3-5K hours on it for that. And it would last about 20 more years and do 3X the work. There’s an upcharge for small-ness.

I was behind 2 20-something girls in a dually cummins pulling a very large horse trailer with living quarters. I’d say in CDL country on more than one count. They ran the trailer tires over a curb while making a turn and couldn’t pass a skateboarding license test, not to mention a class A CDL.

How does a glow plug work?

If the glow plugs are tied into thermostats, sensors and the ECM, it can get complicated. I had to disconnect my glow plugs from the ECM and install a manual switch for them. It was tied to an air temp sensor, a water temp sensor, a timer, the key switch and the tractor ECM.

They should all float, whether it’s a loader or a front 3 point. At least mine do…. Being able to have down pressure is great for packed/driven over snow. Customers appreciate the cleaner job. If the loader makes the plow too heavy for you you could install a plastic cutting edge.
