Truck & Trailer ideas to tow 14,000 and be under 26,000 pounds

Yep class A one the county had remember I saw in county days I believe it had a 10 speed? Couldn't imagine the "joy" of driving that relic above slow moving vehicle speeds.

    Dump Truck recommendation

One more thing my truck was 2wd was able to get a little more traction when needed by raising the dump bed. Could fully load with a old L2850 w Bf 500 loader. Biggest thing for my occasional use was getting it semi reliable and making it run, drive, stop, and dump.

    Dump Truck recommendation

In my opinion an Older GMC 1ton might do the job. I owned one needed some work when I bought it. Bought it for a few hundred over scrap prices. Had the indestructible 5.7 350, coupled to the slightly stronger 4l 80E trans compared to a 60e. Frequently over loaded with gravel and sand hauling on...

Truck & Trailer ideas to tow 14,000 and be under 26,000 pounds

I'm talking about these with the extendable stick. I remember seeing similar but larger going for practically scrap prices.

I cordially disagree with your definition of an unpaved road. Imo you were probably talking to a minimally paid phone rep. A AAA wrecker driver isn't going to go two tracking, or tear up a lawn to fix some folks lack of judgement nor are they going to shovel your driveway so you can get out of...

Truck & Trailer ideas to tow 14,000 and be under 26,000 pounds

US Counties and municipalities used them for ditching. Probably find one pretty cheap at an auction?

Also quick pet peeve of mine one of many lol if your broken down on a freeway and call a friend or family member to pick you up please don't have them park directly in front of your disabled vehicle. I must have made hundreds of loops on interchanges so the person "helping" disabled driver...

    AAA

Not being a staunch advocate for AAA but they have been around quite a while they have a dispatch system that works with local towing companies. When not swamped during a weather event we had 1/2 hour or less service call times in a metro area and suburbs. When I left my towing company AAA...

Truck & Trailer ideas to tow 14,000 and be under 26,000 pounds

In formative, easy to follow, but I already pretty much understand that and know certain states have different laws how it all comingles with federal and other states is confusing for me anyway especially when your no longer driving commercially, have a valid class A with farm endorsement...

I be I believe it was 5 service calls or tows under 20 miles with AAA plus forgot the number with basic, and RV. Folks still would manage to take advantage of it city I worked in towed cars with out parking permits, one company them in we towed them out. Seemed to me anyway a neighborhood...

    AAA

One final kind of humorous memory of AAA related towing. Casino parking garage on a Sunday morning. Had to get one of those newer fangled AWD crossover vehicles out with a wrecker. I had to block both lanes in parking garage. Owner of car was unhappy AAA sent a wrecker I assured him when I put...

Never heard of unpaved road clause? Back in the day we only didn't take a call if you were off on a two track or worse and there was a good chance of the wrecker getting stuck.

Truck & Trailer ideas to tow 14,000 and be under 26,000 pounds

Interesting no plans to test state laws, debating weather it pays to keep it mostly symbolically at this point. Thanks

I remember a pickup truck and trailer were in the ditch. got the call, had basic AAA coverage meaning technically I was only supposed to pull the truck out either pay extra to pull trailer or unhook it and leave it in the snow bank. he kind of resisted and starting giving me a hard time when...

Truck & Trailer ideas to tow 14,000 and be under 26,000 pounds

So if you have a class A lic but no med card can you legally drive a private non commercial vehicle weighing over 26k across state lines around the country?

Imo aaa RV premier is a good deal had them for about 13 yrs since I owned my old 1 ton dump truck not only did they tell me they'd tow the truck but the trailer I was towing with it which was an older 14k equipment trailer with my l2850 on it. Up to 200 miles. Being non commercial, and having...

Truck & Trailer ideas to tow 14,000 and be under 26,000 pounds

For using a tandem axle equipment trailer folks should be familiar loading and balancing it correctly not to mention securing 5 or more tons of load.

I understand your point and other folks with similar pov. I feel what some folks say or think they can safely do and what they actually do or what happens are usually different in my experiences.

Truck & Trailer ideas to tow 14,000 and be under 26,000 pounds

I disagree just cause you can afford to own a dually 1 ton and a 30' gooseneck doesn't mean you should drive it. However imo they really need to clarify laws better, make certain exemptions easier to get and understand, and as you mentioned earlier truck and trailer makers need much better...

    Carport Weight

Now I'm going to measure my spacing lol anyways lots of options some I agree with more than others if the op chooses one. The execution of method will be worthwhile to follow for me anyway.

    Carport Weight

If it were me I'd be more concerned with the structure failing during move. I think those uprights are every 20-24" on mine so imo when it's static there's a lot more support to carry the weight of a few slightly weekend square tubes. I'd also direct my welding arc to the actual braces not the...

    Carport Weight

I like that idea. Plenty of options most will work imo all depends on skills, materials, time, and patience of the op.
  25. jjeff

    Carport Weight

Imo and experience welding is stronger than any fastener, and will add more ridgity to bracing the frame work on baseplates and uprights are probably at least 14 gauge. over the years I consider my self profecient using wafer wheels and flap disks lol.
  26. jjeff

    Carport Weight

Speculating does the op have the means to acquire repurposed steel, weld? Imo even if a trailer large enough to move a carports that size a few hundred yards the amount of work and modifications to trailer deck and baseplate would be prohibitive for me anyway. If I had only one tractor that was...

    Carport Weight

Interesting, a couple thing I learned from trial and error over the years moving carports and structures. Truck & Trailer ideas to tow 14,000 and be under 26,000 pounds

I think They presume your putting 3k on the bumper. 14 k axles +3 on bumper = 17k I d be happy to take a picture of gvwr tag on trailer to verify for you. Using a pintle hitch added 2k to the max listed capacity vs 2 5/16 ball. Yes I was probably over loaded and don't endorse or advocate doing...

One thing I learned was dot med card requirement to have one doesn't matter if it's interstate or intrastate, for different states. NX5510 - No hydraulics after filter and fluid change

On her mower last time I jacked the back up, run the drives on mower with the hydraulic over flow/ fill reservoir cap off until all air bubbles are out of reservoir. Probably not the best way to do it but it worked. I think they were tuff torque 3400 drives? As I mentioned previously I have...

Might not matter, just throwing this out there and I've never owned a hst tractor but hydraulic functions in a static position? is 3pt lever up or down? Loader in float mode? Owners manual say anything about it? Good luck. Hopefully it's simple what you find.

    How to spend your legacy?

The Navy Marine Corp relief society, DAV, and PVA come to mind for other vet orgs they seem to spend less money on marketing for donations more money on actual disabled vets in need, imo.

    Anyone had a lumbar fusion?

I gave no credibility to the chiropractor I was seeing when I gave him a cd of my neck mri's shrugged them off and he insisted all he needed was his x-rays. However I believe some chiropractors are very credible, I had pretty bad lower back pain about 20 yrs ago before my neck problems was...

    KFI plow updates

large volumes? In my humblest of opinions I think you've narrowed down your problems you've experienced. In my experiences neither the 6x6 with tracks nor an ATV plow are designed to withstand the amount of force you are exerting on either plowing with tracks. A 326 SS with tracks is however...

Snow Equipment Owning/Operating Pictures of your snow weapons

Snow Equipment Owning/Operating Pictures of your snow weapons

Had to get old "Betty" out yesterday to push banks back lol. A 4wheeler is much quicker than a gear driven DT7 trans even having to do multiple passes with a 4wheeler especially when it snows under a foot and don't require your roads to look like an interstate in my experience.

    Seafoam testing

Best I've paid recently was a little over 50 bucks for a gallon. Advance auto rarely allows you to use promos on pints for seafoam and a host of other things however they do allow the 15-25% promos on gallons of seafoam. So that's less than 50 cents an ounce.
