What is your favorite Quote or Saying?

I think I have, but not sure. I generally look at the post whenever I get an alert for a new post, but I often don't check in for a week or three.

    pto backup generator

My guess is that it is a slight misinterpretation/misunderstanding. It seems to me that the OP's concern was that he had to be on-site to facilitate change-over from utility to on-site power. Yes, "un-interrupted" power for anything more than a few hundred to a thousand watts or so is going to...

Sears? The only Mail Order place near us when I was growing up was Monkey Wards. Only had to drive about 10 miles and you could get almost anything you wanted!

Snow Equipment Owning/Operating Cutting / Groving / Siping R-4 for snow

If that were true, tire companies wouldn't spend millions producing new moulds, they would simply use different rubber in their summer or all-season patterns.

What is your favorite Quote or Saying?

Sorry, both on wrong accounts. Did you ever see how they built the original Panama Canal? Hardly more than guys with shovels. As far as doing a small job with a big tractor, I sure can think of many that are totally unsuitable for a Caterpillar 6090 FS. Most residential driveways would cave...

What is your favorite Quote or Saying?

Right, but I was reminded of sayings that could have been misunderstood due to regional dialects or the "telephone game" syndrome. Unlikely someone would get from "box of rocks" to "bag of hammers" though almost anything is possible with enough mind altering substance(s)...

What is your favorite Quote or Saying?

My parents always said "Don't let the bedbugs bite"... Reminds me of these two versions: Dumb as a box of rocks. Dumb as a box of frogs.

What is your favorite Quote or Saying?

My Mom had one in our kitchen growing up. Not sure what happened to it. Probably yard saled or "recycled".

What is your favorite Quote or Saying?

When I was maybe 8 years old my Dad borrowed a friends 1950s F100 to go to a local sawmill for sawdust for our chicken coop. Not sure why.- maybe my 6 year old brother was in the passenger seat, but I rode in the bed. This would have been early 70s and so the truck was "very old" to my young...

    Snowblowing rules of thumb

That only works so far. * When you have 6-10' of snow in a year the snowbanks get so high that what is plowed just falls back down behind the plow. * Even with more moderate snowfall, say 4-6', the snow from parking areas/turn-arounds etc has to be pushed somewhere. Unless you have LOTS of...

    Mounting tire chains

This year my son was over helping out with getting ready for winter, so he was here when I put the chains on. The second set of hand definitely made the process much more streamlined in the above mentioned regard, but the method is still very valid for a lone operator.

    Mounting tire chains

Put my OFA studded chains on today, using the method shown in post 1 (which is what the included instructions call for). Makes it quite easy for a one-man operation, and even easier (as today) with two people.

What is your favorite Quote or Saying?

What is your favorite Quote or Saying?

"What the farmer doesn't know, he doesn't eat." Another one from my Dad that I've never heard elsewhere. This was always in relation to us kids not wanting to try something we never had before. But I know that one came from his home country of Germany because he always said it in German.

What is your favorite Quote or Saying?

What is your favorite Quote or Saying?

When my youngest brother was being born I was staying with my grandparents. My uncle Steve was from "Family, Part 2" and only 6 years older than my 5. We were in the back shed and he was splitting pieces of wood with a largish knife. He offered/encouraged me to do the same. I didn't end up in...

Putting the R1 vs R4 debate to rest?

If it hasn't been said on this thread, it's certainly been said elsewhere on this site: there is no one answer-to-everything for any question. And even if you narrow the category down, you are unlikely to get a clear winner. If you could, that would mean that the opposition would soon be out of...

What is your favorite Quote or Saying?

According to some sources, chicken is just barely behind pork as the most consumed meat in the world. So, pretty good chance (about 35%) that it IS chicken. By the time you add alligator, iguana, scorpions, etc you probably do have a winner - more protein tastes like chicken than anything else...

What is your favorite Quote or Saying?

The US standard railroad gauge (distance between the rails) is 4 feet, 8.5 inches. That's an exceedingly odd number. Why was that gauge used? Well, because that's the way they built them in England, and English engineers designed the first US railroads. Why did the English build them like that...

What is your favorite Quote or Saying?

Well, frankly, when you look at history, and how "successful" various governments have been (if you can measure that in dollars), and how successful private enterprise CAN be, it's not terribly surprising, I suppose.
