They are open cuff. I use them for handling the wood. I usually use something else for handling the chainsaw.

    BEST WORK GlOVES??

Walmart’s cheap hyper tough cowhide leather palm gloves with cotton back. They last through 10 to 20 cord of wood handling and stacking. Did i say, they are cheap too?

    PTO will barely turn

Never mind 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ I’m so used to just hitting the switch to my right, I forgot about the lever by my feet that shifts from 540e to neutral to 540. I kicked it into neutral.

Rechecked it. While engaged by the control, the shaft turns by my own hand. It rotated slowly due to vibration???.

    PTO will barely turn

It’s a 2020 Branson 4520r I’ve tried independent in neutral and auto while driving. It was warm enough regardless because I just used it to take up slack on the winch cable(no load).

    Blew a hydraulic hose ☹️

The gentleman from Alaska Rubber called me today and explained that they were an European style (i.e. BSPP) fitting and ended up costing me $30 each. Well, at least it wasn’t as much as the metric ones would have.

    Blew a hydraulic hose ☹️

Yes, I believe they are 1/2” Guess I assumed they were metric since about everything on these tractors are metric because Korean.🤷‍♂️

    Blew a hydraulic hose ☹️

So metric fittings are very expensive. I assumed this was metric. Would have costed me $40 per fitting to have it made by Alaska Rubber. OEM would have been cheaper. By the way a shout out to Ronnie at Reed & Reed sales in Chatsworth, GA. He has been great to work with in the past and they do...

    Blew a hydraulic hose ☹️

We have several large equipment rental and sales companies here. Likely one of them can do it. Also a place called Alaska rubber that sells hydraulic hoses and parts and they usually can make stuff. Should be able to find out today.

Branson 4520r Ta00001408B is the part number. Curious if I should just get an oem replacement or can these be built at a cheaper price? I may have to gave it shipped up here. 3520 cold start

Check your battery? old batteries can turn over but not fast enough to get it started. The cold will cause a large drop in amps in the battery. Also, a good battery will lose much of it’s power if left to sit many days in real cold temps with out getting used and recharged. Other cause is...

    EA Attachments vs Homestead Implements

I will break my front end loader before I will break my MTL grapple. My FEL will lift my back up if I’m not careful. My 4520r Branson weighs about 7k lbs with FEL, grapple, skidding winch, and filled tires. It rips out tree stumps and hauls around multiple logs that extend out a ways on either...

Anyone ever "delete" the dpf on a tractor?

Just get a Branson. No computer to deal with. When my DPF finally gives me problems I can just take it off and put a muffler on it and the tractor will probably love me for it.

Welded vs bolted scraper edge-3pt blower

But why? I am trying to get an understanding of how quickly they wear out on gravel and how easy it is to cut and weld a new one (for welded) If all things being equal, I would definitely go with bolted.

Welded vs bolted scraper edge-3pt blower

Looking to get a 3pt snowblower by this fall. A decision I will have to make is whether I want to get one with replaceable (bolted) scraper blade or to be okay with a welded one. I have a 1/8 mile of gravel (some larger rocks) drive and a good sized gravel parking area. Might do some work for...

    Radtech Blizzard quality?

    Radtech Blizzard quality?

Looking for a 3pt pto backup type snowblower. 42hp at pto. We get on average 10’ to 12’ of snow each winter. Used a FEL for the past two years which work well but last winter I started losing places to pile/push the snow. I will likely use it to blow out other drives for a little extra cash...

    Mid PTO 4520r?

Just found some prices 620 fm (60”) for about $12k and the 725 fm (79”) for about $15k. I think I will stick with a rear mount🤪. I know I would rather have a forward pull rear mount but I foresee too many times that might not be the way to go. We get about 12’ of snow each year near Talkeetna...

    Mid PTO 4520r?

Just curious if anyone here has any knowledge about whether a 4520r (year 2020) can have a mid pto? I doubt if I would ever put one on but the thought crossed my mind. I could not find any information on this from just browsing the internet so I thought I would ask here. My thought was a...

    Branson brand to be discontinued?

Biggest reason I purchased a Branson was for a lack of computers and the ability to eliminate the DPF because of the lack of a computer. Branson was getting a name for itself for being rugged and simple. I’m willing to bet that they will screw this up. but all of this is still rumor….for which...

Oil Viscosity--Food for Thought or Fuel for a Flame War?

If it 20 degrees Fahrenheit….don’t worry about. If it’s -10 to -40 degrees Fahrenheit like here in Alaska…worry about it. a 10w or 15w at -20f is not lubricating your engine because it is nothing but a gel at those temperatures. The qualities of the oil that provide lubrication within those...

    DPF Removal

Interesting I purchased my 4520r in August 2020. Not sure if the manufacture date. Do you have more info on this? I am also understanding more of what you are talking about. We can gut/remove the DPF but just can’t disconnect the warning light on the dash for newer models. Again I am curious...

    DPF Removal

Your Branson doesn’t have a computer. The tractor won’t care. You might want to just remove the whole thing and replace with a muffler. This has been done before. You may want to hold off till tractor is out of warranty?

    Krpan forestry winch

Give these guys a call They are in Irma Wisconsin They carry Igland 3501 is 440 lbs plus cable weight and is for tractors 30hp and up. Might be still too big for yours but HP recommendations is for getting the most “use” out of the winch’s ability. A 25 HP can still run it, but just not as...

Just broke a knuckle arm 4520r

Shipping was never upgraded by FedEx. FedEx was horrible. Finally got the part on the 12th of January. It is fixed. Lots of lessons learned. One of them is to ask a lot of questions and be on top of it as far as making sure the parts are ordered correctly and how it’s being shipped.🤦‍♂️

Do you take it to the dealer for maintenance or do it yourself.

My dealer, actually any dealer, is over an hour away for me. I do all my own maintenance and so far my own warranty work. Takes too much time (time = money) and energy to take it to them. My warranty work consists of replacing third function joy stick and a broken knuckle arm.

    Castrol 0w40 a3/b4 for tractor?

I looked that up too. Owners manual says nothing about it but the service manual says CG. CG is a higher rating than CF. CG is for engines meeting 1994 emission standards. CF is 1990. As I started researching this more it became clear the main difference between these standards is emissions and...

    Castrol 0w40 a3/b4 for tractor?

So a little update I was going to return the expensive John Deere oil but one of my kids had apparently opened one of the jugs.🤦‍♂️ My next change will be the Castrol. I would like to say that the John Deere 0w40 starts like a charm at sub zero temps. Much better than the 5w40 that was in there...

Looking at Bad Boy Tractors, thoughts?

I purchased my Branson prior to moving to Alaska. I called and talked to one of the main guys that run the dealership up there beforehand to make sure they would be “okay” with that. Cold weather start, with glow plugs and block heater. Why does my tractor not start at minus 20 C?

I strongly recommend changing your oil to at least a 5w40 if not 0w40. Your battery will turn it over much easier and the engine will thank you it.

Looking at Bad Boy Tractors, thoughts?

I would like to make sure the OP understands what tractor he is getting if he goes with Bad Boy. It’s a Branson tractor. Just different color and stickers. I would change the oil for you for doing that…lol Friend plowed our drive a couple times now and loaned us her good sized snow blower which she doesn’t use. Already have 6” on ground from overnight and more coming down. Usually takes me 2 hours to plow us out with the tractor….🤦‍♂️ So on...

I’m sorry too🤦‍♂️ I’m not really mad with the dealer here. But I am puzzled about why he didn’t order the part right away. He said he was waiting to see if the part they had on hand matched mine. What that hell, he was going to wait till I was hauling it to Anchorage on Jan 5th for the...

    Castrol 0w40 a3/b4 for tractor?

2020 Branson 4520r. Cummins engine, no turbo, and the emission is a simple passive catalyst style. I live in Alaska and my area is normal -25f at night and I use the tractor when it is still -10f and it sits outside, so the 0w40 is necessary. Only decent choice is John Deere Plus 50 II 0w40. So...
