Glue and Biscuits. I like it! With all the flour in the gravy, it sometimes comes close to wallpaper paste. And then there's the old saying my mom loved to use when serving comfort food like sausage gravy and biscuits, "It sticks to your ribs". 😋

Road base / crusher run has too many fines. Mixing #56 or #57 with road base to fix

I use a mix with a lot of fines (411), and then top dress with a light coat of #8. That gives a good tight base that repels water and has the clean 8's on top. Best of both in my case.

    Zero Turn Tires

15 years using AT101 for me too. I also had a set of 22 MAG tires on one of my Grasshoppers. They are a little more aggressive than the Carlisle bar tires, and slightly larger diameter. As someone else said, the bar tires provide much better traction but if care isn't taken they can dig fast...

Cover crop Winter Rye, dies after two weks

We use oats which will grow this time of year too, and they die out mostly with a winter freeze. Rye does really well but it does grow aggressively the following spring, so keep that in mind if you intend to seed with something else then.

My new pressure washer is haywire. Helllllp

Water on and wand trigger depressed is what works to relieve pressure. I did have an issue with mine this year though, almost exactly as you described. Water was flowing through wand with trigger pulled, but was a small stream. Nearly ripped my arm off. My son tried till his arm gave out...

A few years ago I was in TX on business with several women co-workers. We went out to a steak place one night and when the waiter finished taking all of our orders, he said "you're not from around here are you?". I asked if he knew that due to our "Ohio accents", but he said no it was because...

    Nut Gatherer

They work great. Make sure you get a quality brand and get the proper size for walnuts. We’ve used them for years to harvest black walnuts. I think the Nut Wizard is the original, or at least a better quality. It is made in the USA too. They have a website with details on sizes and use.

    B29 Overheard

We drove over to Toledo yesterday to ride bike trails, and had F16's flying over us all morning. Later in the afternoon while sitting outside at home, we heard a distinct engine sound flying overhead so I checked flight radar. B-25J directly over us. Pretty cool day to see and hear both of those.

    Cut Quality

A belly mower has the advantage since only the tractor's front tires are compressing the grass/weeds before the deck. A mower on the rear of the tractor has a tougher time pulling up the tall stalks after both the small front and larger wide rear tires pack everything down.

A bicycle or a lawn tractor?

You'll find that good bike shops have employees who love to ride, and want to help others enjoy their sport/hobby too. They will be active in the community, involved in bike clubs and trail maintenance. Good shops are very helpful and offer assistance well beyond buying a bike.

A bicycle or a lawn tractor?

Bikes have been, and continue to be, in short supply like may things these days. I've been looking at some of the Trek mountain bikes, which mostly range from $500 - $3000, with some extremes way above that. $900 - $1100 gets you a nice entry level MTB that will last and is serviceable. For...

    Fire Pit Idea Needed

As I understand it, the paver area provides an area to sit close to the pit but that area has the grassy weeds (between pavers). My wife wanted a paver or flagstone area surrounding one of our pits but I talked her out of it. I didn't want to excavate the area for base grit or sand under the...

Front end blade for a tractor?

I had an ARPS dozer blade on my Ford 850. It worked pretty decent with hydraulic lift, but I had to change blade angle manually. Even on the 2wd tractor it was very productive. Having a FEL plow on a 4wd tractor now is much better especially for deep snow.

Harbor Freight Tools that DO SUCK II

I have had the 35407 tap and die set for 15 years or so, and it's performed well for me. I really take care when using it though, expecting less than stellar quality and knowing most failures of taps and dies are due to user error. I have to add the O-ring sets to the DO suck list though. I...

Mowing Level (soon to be lawn) with tiller, disc or box blade?

Till as shallow as you can, and drag between tills to flatten and level the surface. Till, drag, till, drag, etc. The problem with deep tilling or disking is the disturbed soil will continue to settle (unevenly) for a couple years and you'll end up with dips and humps again. A shallow till...
