Heavy medium-duty tractor options? Massey 67xx, CaseIH Maxxum, or Kubota M5-111?

That's a pretty innovative machine. I think I like it.

Heavy medium-duty tractor options? Massey 67xx, CaseIH Maxxum, or Kubota M5-111?

My Massey Ferguson 4707 is smaller than what you are looking for, but it's still part of the global series of tractors (4700, 5700, 6700). It had a few issues when I bought it new in late '21, but the dealer eventually got things straightened out and it's been fantastic since. This is a lot of...

John Deere 1050 loaders: why does a 75 have more lift than an 80?

This leaves my dad in a quandary because while he wants a 1050, he doesn't want to sacrifice loader lift capacity. It's bass ackward if you think about it. A 1050 is a fair amount more tractor than an 850 and an 80 loader is a bit more stout than a 75...but his little 850 will outlift the bigger...

John Deere 1050 loaders: why does a 75 have more lift than an 80?

We've got a 1985 John Deere 850 with a 75 loader, but my dad's "Holy Grail" tractor is a 1050. We found a 1985 JD 1050 for sale with an 80 loader and not only does it look more rugged and stout than the 75, the spec sheet also shows this, too. Except for one important category: lift capacity...

I bought the filter and oil from my dealer. I figure changing the oil will happen infrequently enough where I'd rather just pay whatever the dealer charges and have "Massey Ferguson" on the side in case something happens.

    4707

Just did my first oil and filter change. The two drain plugs were easy. The oil filter is not. It's also horizontal, so you're going to want to fill the new filter with oil and then let it sit for about ten minutes to get absorbed before you put it on.

Looking for fender decals/stickers for 1985 JD 850

The left fender of my dad's 850 was bent all out of shape when he bought the tractor almost two years ago. We took it off this week and stomped, hammered, and pressed it back into shape and it actually looks pretty good now. After sanding and painting, it almost passes for new. What we need now...

    Post COVID CUT tractoring “truths”

The older I've gotten the more I value performance and features. Ten years ago, I'd have scoffed at the expense of an air-ride seat. My newest tractor (4707) has air and it was worth every single dollar extra. I also sprang for the upgraded FL series loader. Spent money on wheel weights. These...

Anybody ever see a 3pt attachment that did the following....

Couple more pics, this time with the counterweight. I ended up leaving the Reese hitch on for the pic. Typically, I'd take it off if I was using the weight. The new counterweight will be roughly the same size, but it will have steel arms that come up and wrap over the top of the attachment, sort...

Anybody ever see a 3pt attachment that did the following....

My counterweight is 2,500lbs. It lifted it with no issues. It also tugs around my trailers perfectly fine. Why are you nitpicking it when I built it to suit my needs and does exactly what I wanted it to? This isn't my first rodeo.

I've learned a lot in the last few years. Here are a few pics that I currently have:

8Ns are ok. A '53 Jubilee or '54 NAA are better due to their engines. A '55 and up are better still due to improved rear wheel seals that don't leak on the brakes and you can also find some with live power and power steering. Those are the holy grails of antique/vintage small Ford tractors.

Anybody ever see a 3pt attachment that did the following....

No, you didn't see it, because it doesn't show up in either picture. The lateral bracing is behind the top rail, facing away from the camera.

Anybody ever see a 3pt attachment that did the following....

When I first talked to my dad about what I wanted to do, he thought I was referring to ^ this. I then considered it, but decided just to go with a dedicated 3pt hitch attachment, as I have no intention of ever taking it off the back of the tractor.

Anybody ever see a 3pt attachment that did the following....

I did use 1/4" steel on the tower. Also, I think I mentioned it already, but while you can't see it from the pics, I reinforced the top rail from the tower outward towards each side of the attachment. It should be plenty strong enough to tow trailers in the yard.

Anybody ever see a 3pt attachment that did the following....

You can't tell from the pictures, but the gooseneck tower goes all the way to the bottom. Also, the top rail is beefed up towards the tractor.

Anybody ever see a 3pt attachment that did the following....

OK, I finally finished it. I converted a SSQA backing structure for forks into a 3pt hitch setup. Also added a conventional hitch and a gooseneck hitch. Forks can be put on and taken off fairly easily. I imagine they'll be left off most of the time as I tow trailers around the farm more than any...

Yeah, I had big problems with my 3pt hitch control. Took the dealer two times to fix it, once at our farm and when that didn't work, they came and picked it up and brought it back to their shop.

    Manual Top Link Options

Hope this works. Sorry about the video quality, not sure why it's only 240p. Murphy struck again. Anyway, this is the telescoping top link my dad made. It works well and is easy to adjust the angle of the rear forks.

    Manual Top Link Options

My dad made a telescoping top link out of scrap so he could adjust the pitch of his 3pt forks on the fly. I'll take a pic tomorrow and post it.

Anybody ever see a 3pt attachment that did the following....

Well, I bought the backing structure to a set of pallet forks (no forks though, as I have some spares) that is rated for 4,000lbs. We will use this as the starting point for my idea. I'll keep y'all updated as I go.

This is for my 4707. It'll be fine. Lift capacity is nearly 5,000lbs.

Anybody ever see a 3pt attachment that did the following....

I watched that video and the idea intrigued me...but then researched the product and found the heaviest model only has a capacity of 1,700lbs. I need something that will lift my 2,500lb counterweight.

Anybody ever see a 3pt attachment that did the following....

    A. had both gooseneck and regular Reese hitch capability B. Could mount skid steer fork tines when needed After researching, I have not found anything like it and may have to start with the backing structure of pallet forks (not the fork tines themselves) and modify it to add the gooseneck and...

Comparison Kubota L6060 Air Ride Seat

The air ride seat in my MF 4707 is the best, most comfortable seat I've ever experienced on a tractor or piece of equipment. Well worth it. Between the large sidewall radial tires, the rubber mounted cab, rubber floor mat, air suspension, and nice foam material, nothing beats it for operator...

    Belarus 5440 tractor

My dad bought a new 525 with FEL back in '88. It is crude and clunky and the hydraulics on the loader are far too strong for the loader itself and the front end. You have to really respect the tractor or you'll destroy it in short order. It's been down for five years with a blown head, but up...

    4707

Mine had a handful of issues early on after I bought it a year ago. I think they've all been addressed and I'm very happy with the tractor. A few people have commented that they think the 4707 is underpowered, but I don't necessarily agree. It's a stump puller.

    4707

Love my 4707. As has been documented, the 3pt. hydraulics are sort of finicky, but other than that, this tractor is the best one I've ever owned or operated.

Yes, the temps do run fairly high, but my A/C is pretty decent and I have no complaints with it.

    100hp Tractor for 240 acres. M6? 5711? 5115M?

I agree with this post. Last fall I purchased a new 2021 MF 4707 with the upgraded loader (FL3615), cab, and air seat. The combination of rubber mounted cab, air seat, and well placed controls make it a comfortable tractor to operate for hours on end. I've checked out other tractor cabs in this...

Excavator v. Skid Steer for Hobby Farmer?

We have a 10,000lb mini excavator on our farm and a CAT 262 skid steer that weighs around 8,600lbs. They both have their place and do jobs the other machine isn't good at. As others have said, a purpose built TLB like Kubota makes is a pretty good compromise. Their M62 TLB really interested me...

    New Tractor manufacturer

The 23hp TYM I bought new about 15 years ago was a 2spd hydro. Nothing wrong with it and it worked well. Never felt like it needed anything different.

Yeah, if you don't shut that valve off, your A/C won't work very well.

I grew up with nothing but geared tractors (no shuttles whatsoever). Then got a Massey 1540 Powershuttle in 2007. It was fantastic. Had to sell it due to the economy in '09 and replaced it with a 1643 Hydro in '13. Replaced it last fall with this 4707 Powershuttle and am happier now...

    4707

Hydro is is ridiculously easy and fast for loader work, but it does come with a few penalties: 1. On farm equipment (things that are not yellow), hydro is typically loud. 2. Hydro sucks HP way more than geared transmissions. 3. Many times you have a need to change ranges while operating the...

The only remaining issue on mine is the hood not raising and staying up. It's scheduled to get new shocks, but they haven't sent out a mechanic yet to do it. Other than that, the tractor's been more or less trouble free now (60 hours).

Thinking about a 100% custom trailer idea for my construction company

I load cages of panels onto trailers in the yard with a big skid steer and have a boom truck to unload cages on jobsites, but half the time (or more), the jobs are either not big enough to warrant the boom truck or the site makes it not worth the effort to use the truck. So that means you're...

Thinking about a 100% custom trailer idea for my construction company

Except they are not easier to handle that way. They are significantly easier to handle when off the ground by about 12-16" or so. That's part of the problem with my current trailer. The bottom of the panels should be about a foot or more higher than where you are standing.

Thinking about a 100% custom trailer idea for my construction company

Basically, I'm looking for the following: 1. Gooseneck trailer with GVWR of 12k 2. Single axle dually axle like you'd see on tandem dually trailers with 16in. wheels 3. 16' long frame from the vertical gooseneck supports to the back end of the frame with 4' of frame behind the trailer tires 4...
