LS MT357 starts poorly after sitting for a month

Just trying a couple of different methods to see if it makes any difference.

LS MT357 starts poorly after sitting for a month

Update. Let the tractor sit for 2+ weeks and tried a restart. No battery tender during this time and the temps were even colder (20F) but tractor is still inside an unheated pole shed. After the glow plug light on the dash went out I waited another 10-15 seconds before a start. Engine lit...

LS MT357 starts poorly after sitting for a month

I do work with people that work on diesels but they are marine diesels which rarely get run below 32F. Just looking for comparative product knowledge.

LS MT357 starts poorly after sitting for a month

I'd guess the light on the dash was on around 20 sec before I tried to crank it the first time which resulted in a failed start. I did not turn the key off and on again after the start but I've been told from some of the diesel techs at work that on most diesels the glow plugs stay energized...

LS MT357 starts poorly after sitting for a month

I was thinking in this same direction. I'll let it sit for a week or so and see what happens. I know last winter I let it sit for more than 2 weeks and it started normally even at a colder temp. Between the fuel jelling posts and this type of an issue it makes me glad I kept my 1972 model...

LS MT357 starts poorly after sitting for a month

This model does have glow plugs and there is an indicator light showing that at least a request was made for their use.

LS MT357 starts poorly after sitting for a month

I haven't started the MT357 for 5 weeks and went to start it with outside temps around 30 F. Tractor sits inside an unheated pole shed with a trickle charger on the battery. Cranked over fine but had at least 3 failed starts. Then when it did try to run it had a few loud combustion knocks and...

LS Tractor Oil, Gas, & Air Filter Information

The reason for the bypass circuit is in case the filter plugs up (or oil is really cold and can't flow through filter normally) there is a bypass circuit in the filter so the engine is not starved of oil. Not all engines run the same oil pressure and the filter is generally chosen with this...

    Digging 400' Trench for cable

Spectrum has been laying fiber optic cable in my neighborhood which isn't within 20 miles of being able to get cable. I think they got some cash from the government to improve access to broadband internet in rural areas. Anyways, they surveyed the layout and decided to lay the cable from the...

USA or Canada Manufactured TRACTOR 3-Pt. TRANSPORT BOXES / DUMPING CARRYALLS

MK Martin also makes a dump box but it's not intended for digging, just carrying. Not sure how they come up with the cubic ft size since the measurements of the box don't add up to what they state. https://mkmartin.ca/products/dumpBox.php

    Titan dump box review?

I do fill the bucket with the big chunks. Can't get many in the loader bucket. The 30 cu ft dump box Titan sells can hold a lot more wood than the bucket I have. I thought with the box on the back it would be a nice counterweight to what I put in the loader bucket.

    Titan dump box review?

Saw this Titan dump box on their website and thought it might be useful when I'm cutting wood. You have to manually fill it but it does have a hydraulic dump feature available. I'm surprised it doesn't isn't available with a rear gate. Anyone out there bought one of these?

What's Up With Titan these days???

I haven't look over every position of the pivot bolt but I didn't see anything on the top or side. Here's a closeup of the upper pin. Maybe there is something on the bottom or back?

What's Up With Titan these days???

Received the Titan post puller today. Got it in less than a week with no issues. Seems to be heavy duty and no issues thus far. Installed it on the tractor but couldn't hook up the hydraulics since it had larger flat faced fittings (1") than I had fittings for. I see there are no grease...

What's Up With Titan these days???

I've been trying to buy US made implements when I can. Got a CID set of forks and a King Kutter brush hog locally. I prefer buying from a dealer but very few around my area stock many implements and if they do they are not what I am looking for. I've also run into the multi month wait...

Looking for the right Rake Grapple

Being able to easily remove an upper section is a good idea. Might work on one next year since I just bought a post/tree puller for the quick attach that may also be a reason to have some protection in this area. Was going to buy a grapple but the multiple month wait allowed me to evaluate...

What's Up With Titan these days???

I made my first order from Titan last night on the post puller they sell. It is already on its way to be delivered on Monday (supposedly). Didn't see this post until today so I was a little concerned I would be another victim. I'll see what I get but for the money and what it looks like in...

Looking for the right Rake Grapple

I agree that a good grille guard is needed but how much light do you get through it when needed? Some of the expanded metal mesh is pretty tight. Seems like something more easily removable might help. Or is the whole guard removed when the grapple is off?

    MT3 57 OBD II connection

Good to know about the coolant temp since it seemed a little low. Yep, using Torque Pro. Use it on my automotive vehicles for troubleshooting error codes. I've got a generic ELM bluetooth device to talk to it. Boost reading was at PTO 2400rpm speed no load. I was just looking at what...

    MT3 57 OBD II connection

I was able to use my automotive OBD II tool to connect to the MT3. Spent a little time to find the connector. Manual inferred about where it was located. Needed to remove the right lower panel by my HST pedals AND the plastic center kick panel which is where it is located. I don't get why...

    Grapple width

I've been looking to get a grapple (which isn't easy with the backorder situation) for my LS MT3 tractor and have been pondering the pros and cons of the width I should buy. I'm looking at getting a rake grapple and have mostly looked at grapples between 60-72". My tractor front tire track...

    MT3 57 Delivered

I've noticed that R14 tires also have grooves in the lugs like you have created. Do you get better traction with these grooves due to the lugs being more flexible so the tire clears out better? Not sure what the circumferential groove would do to improve traction though. Interesting.

    MT3 57 Delivered

Like mine, it looks like your dealer didn't remove the plastic from the seat either. Thought that would be part of getting the tractor ready for delivery. I also had way too much air pressure in the tires but they blamed that on the new guy they just hired. Since my dealer also installed the...

    MT3 57 Delivered

I'd be interested in your feedback on the camera display update frequency. The one I put in is a little slow which makes the picture a little choppy and delayed when moving. Really clear when the tractor is stationary. I mounted mine to the front wiper cover bolts.

    2022 MT357 Cab Hitch

Pin size of the top link on the tractor side is 3/4" and, as you stated, 1" on the implement side. Seems to be pretty standard for this size tractor as my 50 year old JD 2020 has the same size pins on the top link. Lift arms pins are the normal CAT II 1 1/8". Guess this keeps you installing...

    R4 Tire Pressure

I went down to 16psi in the rears (noticeably better than the 24psi the dealer put in after adding the RimGuard) and even with the wood chipper on the back (800+ lbs) the tires are still not flat on the ground. I'll probably drop them some more but doubt I would go less than 12psi.

    Fast Internet

A few months ago I signed up with Frontier and the only thing available was DSL with 20down 1up speed but it was easy to install since I already had a phone line installed 30 years ago. Looks like they are going to run more fiber down my road (and it seems every road in my area) so I assume...

What did you do on or to your LS Tractor today?

I don't live too far from where the address is for that place and it looks like a side business out of their home. When I went on the website they didn't have any info on a grapple bigger than 55" and the pictures I saw were more of a root grapple. I'm looking for about a 60-66" rake grapple...

More impressed with LS MT3 series tractor

I'm not that concerned about the frequency of the regen but it is noteworthy what others with about the same size tractor see. Unless I'm hooking up something or need to get out of the cab for a short time, I generally run above 2000rpm. Most of the time I'm using the tractor with the PTO so...

    R4 Tire Pressure

Dealer set the pressures quite high and not evenly. Had 36psi in the fronts and the rears were 21psi on the left side and 24 psi on the right. I set the fronts to 30psi and that put the tread nearly even with the floor. Set the rears to 16 psi. Left side was no problem adjusting the pressure...

Jacking the rear tires off the ground on a MT357

Has anyone found a good jack point to lift the rear tires? The loader frame is in the way to get a clean shot at the rear axle and I don't think I want to lift on the loader frame or the 3 pt stabilizer mount.

    R4 Tire Pressure

I've looked through the owner's manual for my MT357HC to find nominal tire pressures for the R4's I have on this tractor. Nothing listed for the size of R4's installed. About the only recommendation I found in the manual was a drawing showing the tread to be flat with the ground and not cupped...

    LS mt357

I did the same comparison of tractors (MT357 vs 5520) in 2021 with the Branson dealer being the closest one. He was unable to get any tractors throughout the year for me to drive so I moved on and started looking at the MT3. If you are looking at a cab version the MT3 definitely has more bells...

More impressed with LS MT3 series tractor

I am going to investigate tire pressure vs. ride. Hopefully that will make it ride better. Not sure if it will improve traction though but it might. I can lift the mower higher with the 3 pt but have to use the stop on the control lever to prevent the mower from hitting the tires. That's why...

    Recommended wood stove brands

I've heard really good things about the Quadfire wood stoves as a friend of mine has had the same one for over 25years. Had to replace some components that eroded over the years but it seems to be a nicely built stove at that time. I've had a Hearthstone woodstove in place for nearly 28 years...

More impressed with LS MT3 series tractor

Yep, both tires filled with beet juice. Tried to measure tire pressure with the schrader valve at 3 o'clock. All that came out was the syrupy mix. I'm envious of the MT5. Does it have an adjustable tire stance width on the rear? Seems to be a tall tractor so I wonder how that feels on...

    Joining LS Club

Nice! Like the layout of the 3pt and remote controls compared to the MT3 series cab tractors. The other thing I noticed is the dealer prep did not remove the cardboard on the floor or the plastic on the seat. Thought my dealer was the only one that didn't do that. I still haven't pulled the...

More impressed with LS MT3 series tractor

It's been over 6 months with the MT357HC so I have a few notes as I became more familiar with the tractor. Before I bought it I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what I needed and good some good advice from a lot of the members on the forum. Thanks again. 1) R4 Tires. I'm sure they...

    Wand for radiator

I did the same with some 5/16" diameter copper tube, plugged the end, drilled some small holes and also put a rubber cap on the end so it is less likely to gouge anything. I may also added a valve to restrict the air pressure but the air gun I started with has pretty good control of the...

Backup & front camera on LS MT3

Backup & front camera on LS MT3

I found the one in the photos on eBay. At the time its brand name was XRoose but it seems to have changed names for the same item. Paid a little over $100 for this China made device. Thought it would be neat to get a split screen with both front and back at the same time or front or back...

Help me find a LS Mt342 or 347 hydro

Yeah, the rear 3 pt control lever at the back of the tractor is super handy especially with a cab tractor. Not sure why more tractors don't have it since it is a simple linkage to the main lever.

Rake grapple able to pull brush out of the ground?

I'm cleaning out fence lines with a lot of smaller brush including buckthorn and want to find a easier and faster way to clear it out. Can a rake grapple have the gripping capacity to pull the brush out from the top or do you need to dig in the ground to pull it out by the roots?
